And watching Skip Bayless literally discount Lebron as a good player COMPLETELY turned me off of ESPN.

one thing I hate about espn is how they take ever single opportunity to advertise. I think it first started with the "Budweiser Hotseat", but it has gotten ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, it is brilliant from a revenue generating segment, but it is just too much. It is like a movie that is too obvious with product placement.

Quite frankly I can't believe that there are some of you out there that have the audacity to talk about ESPN - a channel that changed the way you, me and the world look at sports - with such indignance. The confluence and capitulation that peppers the verity of your words is pugnacious. And quite frankly I cannot sit here and comprehend with any kind of understanding why y'all wanna turn your backs on the sports font of information. I just can't believe it.

Wow, that Outside the Lines article on ESPN about the two high school football teams in San Diego is surreal. I played against both those schools on multiple occasions, and its just cool to see them in the national spotlight.

Oceanside, one of the schools in the article (the poorer school), has won 4 straight Division II championships. Pretty impressive.

some comments regarding some annoying espn VCAST commercials:

1). "NANCY!!" [sarah fisk, you dumb bitch: what, you do not own a car? Nice planning. Plus, you seem awfully butch, must have been checking NCAA women's scores.]

2). GUY CHECKING SCORES ON HONEYMOON [dude, go screw your bride while she still wants sex and then just turn on the tv afterwards. ]

Even though I dont follow it, I've done surprisingly well with hockey. I think I got over 70% right when i picked it the last go around. That and soccer were my two strongest i think.

Another example on the West Coast Sportscenter of why I hate sportscaster's random double standard for PEDs in baseball. Neil Everett was talking to Shawn Merriman, someone blatantly caught and punished for using steroids in football, and was joking around asking "I weigh 175, how many times could you bench press me?"

While baseball PED users are being treating like they're clubbing baby seals to death with baby people.

Especially when they don't lie. Sosa hasn't gotten shit on that much because he suddenly forgot English (lie). Raffie was hot for a week (finger lie). Bonds didn't get hammered until much later when the fed gov't made a witch hunt (laughable lie). Giambi got hammered for the non-apology (did not lie) and Mac continues to be the anti-christ because the scumbags in congress brought him in under false pretenses and made him look bad so they could grandstand in front of their constituents (took the 5th instead of lying).

the sign that the apocolypse is approaching:

the last 45 seconds of ESPN's Jay Harris interview with Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree:

what suit are you wearing?

I have about 5 suits, man I need to choose

you gotta pick one..what color?

that's the hardest thing for me, man..choosing what I am going to wear.

give us an indication

you want a sneak peek?

yeah!

It might have some blue in it

ok..some blue. Michael Crabtree--in some blue--the draft this weekend...thank you brother

So I'm watching ESPN 1st and 10 and they are debating which trade was better, Billups or Cutler.

First, its pretty hard for the Cutler trade to work out a lot better than the Billups one. And two, how the fuck can you compare them when one has played out and the other has not? Typical ESPN caca.

He has appeared as an anchor on the Sunday morning edition of SportsCenter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SportsCenter), but on April 17, 2009 announced on his website (http://stephena.com/?p=54) that he would be leaving ESPN on May 1st, 2009. The Los Angeles Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/04/stephen-a-smith-leaving-espn.html) reported that ESPN commented that, "We decided to move in different directions."

I can see him being a huge prick to work with, but I really did like his NBA analysis whether I agreed with it or not. ESPN just doesn't seem to like the guys that bring controversy like him and Whitlock. It wouldn't surprise me if Simmons leaves one day in similar fashion.
