Picking up immediately where Resistance: Fall of Man concluded, Resistance 2 follows Nathan Hale as he finds himself once more in a world transformed by war and invasion. Undaunted by their defeat in London, the Chimera have continued to advance and are now poised to attack the United States. Entire cities have been leveled and communities annihilated. In this war where the odds are so heavily stacked against the human race, few are left who are willing and able to fight. Fortunately, Hale is not alone. A group of super soldiers known as the Sentinels will fight alongside Hale as they collectively attempt to thwart the inevitable.
Players will once again step into the war-torn boots of Nathan Hale, who not only faces near impossible odds on the battlefield, but also constantly struggles with the Chimeran virus raging inside his own body. In addition to an epic single-player campaign, Resistance 2 offers a truly unprecedented eight-player, class-based online co-op campaign with a separate, parallel storyline and 60-player online competitive multiplayer built upon a massive battles, greater intimacy mantra. Players can also visit a re-designed MyResistance.net, featuring social networking tools designed to enhance a user's gameplay experience whether they’re engaged in single, co-op or competitive combat.

About This Game
A new chapter in the epic PlayStation 3 franchise, Resistance: Retribution takes on a third-person perspective in the ongoing fight with the Chimera. Set in the weeks after Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance: Retribution follows the story of former British Marine James Grayson. After a personal tragedy -- he is forced to kill his own brother inside a Chimeran conversion center – Grayson goes on a vendetta to destroy every conversion center he can find. Eventually Grayson learns that his efforts have been futile ... in Western Europe the Chimera have evolved a new method of converting humans to aliens. The European resistance -- the Maquis -- enlist Grayson's help, and he joins Cartwright and Parker in Operation Overstrike. The war to retake the European continent has begun.

We tried playing this at PAX, the gameplay was just ok, but the real problem was connection issues, they could barely keep the game running.

Shit, sorry. Codes gone. Forgot to edit my post.
Co-op is like doing a world of warcraft instance in an FPS with no aggro. You have 3 classes, Soldier (tank) Medic (healer) and Special-Ops who's job it is to supply everyone with ammo. Enemies take quite a bit of damage and bosses are like giant sponges. Teamwork is pretty much essential. The only downside about all of this is the AI. Regular enemies aren't bad, and even some of the elites (thats what I'm going to call them) cut the mustard. Bosses on the other hand pretty much just stand around. If you surround him it looks like he gets confused and doesn't know who to shoot.. so he just doesn't shoot. Objectives are randomly given so you'll never have the same string of objectives in a row.
Haven't put to much time into competitive but it's your average multi-player. TDM, DM, and skirmish which is objective based. Gets pretty crazy with 60 players.
Easily the smoothest online. No lag, ever.

if someone happens to have a beta key for this... i would be greatly appreciative. didn't get to play the first one, but i've heard it's almost a must-buy for ps3 owners who're fans of fpsers.

Started playing competitive.
Alot better in my opinion.
but im sure its because I can't really get into the co-op when everyone keeps leaving mid-mission.

I picked this up last night because I really enjoyed the online beta. I'm 2 hours into the campaign and so far I'd give this game 7.5/10. It's very linear and the controls seem awkward compared to other FPS I played. Having to hold the zoom button down is a terrible idea. If anyone figures a way to make it a toggle switch please let me know.

I wasn't a fan of the first one until about 2 weeks ago when I replayed it with a friend out of boredom of COD4.
This one the controls were awkward, but holding down to zoom is nothing new. You have to do it in COD4, and it's the same button so no biggy. Gameplay was good. Graphics were good despite being only 720P.
The ending was awesome.
Don't read this if you haven't beat it.
.45 a.c.p where's the back of your head Hale?

I'm completely addicted to the online co-op mode. I've been averaging 2+ hours of playing time per night.

Hey, EG....or anyone really. What's the best weapon to use on the hordes of weaponless chimera that hatch and just swarm towards you in the dozens. The carbine ain't cutting it. I'm getting my shit pushed in

If so nothing. You have to run away from them until the Doc figures out to run them into the generator then you shoot them with an EMP cannon.

I absolutely love this game. Tons of fun, great shoot. They really work the music well and the gaps in action to add alot of suspense. There have been many times when I haven't done anything in 30-40 seconds, then I get a big weapon, or there are alot of weapons around and scenery that makes me think, "whats coming, who is going to try and kill me and where is it coming from?"
I also love the I Am Legend style fights with the Zombie type guys running at you in huge packs.
The only thing I don't like is that you cannot kill the swimmers, those things piss me off sometimes.
I haven't played online yet, since I want to beat the game before I move to that, but so far I am giving the game a 9.5/10. The only reason it loses some points is that the graphics could be better, but I am willing to give that up for awesome game play.

I like to use the Magnum. I shoot the first one, wait until some guys get near him then blow him up. Rinse and repeat.
If I cant use that the carbine or the shotgun are my fav to use.
I just learned that you can kill some of the bigger guys with one shot with the Marksman or the Sniper rifle if you get a head shot.
Oh and the spider bombs seem to work well to the the hordes.

I think overall, my favorite weapon overall when I could find it was the Marksman. I kill fools. And about the swimmers, you ain't supposed to kill em. You stay the fuck outta that water

Yeah the Marksman is awesome, but runs out of ammo fast.
Yeah I know to stay out, and I do for the most part, but sometimes I would just like to shot those fuckers.
