Could be worse. I could be a Trekkie.
Original Star Wars, this poll doesn't even make sense.
Hell, where's Back to the Future, that's a better choice than the non original Star Wars options here.

When was the last time someone dressed up as Marty McFly at Comic-Con?
Exactly. Never.

Back to the Future >> X-Men or new Star Wars (and close to LotR)

If you forget which Star Wars is which you probably shouldn't vote in a nerd trilogy thread.

I'm going to suggest a nerd trilogy; The Evil Dead series.
That might make some people mad. You know who it makes mad? Nerds.

I just got done with a marathon LOTR session last week. It's better because Tolkien owns George Lucas as a storyteller, and Peter Jackson is better filmmaker than any of the hacks (including Lucas) that directed the Star Wars movies. The original Star Wars trilogy is grand, epic, and wonderful, and wins if by going by nostalgia points alone. But Lord of the Rings is a much better crafted story, made by a much better filmmaker. So it wins.
FUCK
I clicked wrong, I wanted 4-6, not 1-3

Lord of the rings is the modern generations equivalent of star wars.
And what, no love for Matrix, I mean sure, they sucked but they could have at least been mentioned.

The X-Men trilogy was a piece of crap. Worst third installment of a trilogy ever. Ever.
I voted SW4-6 because I was a kid when it was out and I'm nostalgic.

I didn't forget, I just read it quickly and saw 1-3 so I voted for that. Then I noticed it said 'episode' before 1-3.

Leia's gold bikini FTW!
As bad ass as Leia in a gold bikini is, the teddy bears kinda took away the mistique.
And LOTR is the first trilogy that got better with every movie. most go down hill or go up and down like Xmen and Star Wars. X Men 2 was awesome. 3 had the potential to be awesome, but the director fucked it up. If he would have fleshed the stories out a bit more, it could have been better, but he would barely introduce it, then ignore it, then tie it up.

When 2 thirds of a movie goes straight to DVD they don't get a choice, and TMNT is just fucking gay.

With the possible exception of Indiana Jones, none of those are in the same league with Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Terminator is dragged down by the awful third movie. Evil Dead has a very high nerd factor, but without it, they just aren't very good movies. Terror Dome eliminates Mad Max. Blade? No. Matrix? Absolutely not. The Spider-Man movies are worse than the X-Men movies. Only the first From Dusk Til Dawn is worth mentioning. This poll really could have been the original Star Wars trilogy vs. LOTR.

That's nice that you think that, however it's well beside the point. LOTR shouldn't even be on that poll, if you want to get all elitist. It doesn't even compare to Star Wars, and it's really not just my opinion, it's influence extends far beyond LOTR's. What does LOTR have? Warcraft and role-playing games? What does Star Wars have? Annual conventions all over the world, books, video games, a pertinent, original mythology that actually extends well into every day life, toys, cartoons, lunchboxes, I'm sure they even have flame throwers, etc. Star Wars actually has people gather money so they can make their own Star Wars episodes. Again, what does LOTR have, what do the movies have that wasn't handed to them on a silver platter? Production value. Which Star Wars has at least equal to. Without the money that LOTR had.
And yet, X-Men is on the poll. And the Star Wars prequels. Pardon moi, but have to go one way or the other with a poll like this. If for no other reason than you included the word "nerd."

You weren't the least bit let down by the HUGE BATTLE in Return of the King, when the ghosts swarmed in and killed everything in about 15 seconds?
If you say the ewoks were shitty, at least they beat the empire with half a fucking effort. Ewoks > Immortal pissed off ghosts.

You seriously want to compare the Star Wars books to the LOTR? That's like comparing Pokemon fan fiction to Tolstoy.
Further, the question wasn't "what nerd trilogy has most invaded popular culture", or "what nerd trilogy has the nerdier fanbase", it was "best nerd trilogy", putting the emphasis on the quality of the films. And even the most ardent Star Wars supporter would have trouble convincing me that Lucas's disjointed "OMG letz make Leia Luke's SISTER" story is better than LOTR.

this poll is fucking pathetic. star wars, star wars, x-men, lord of the rings... my guess is that the OP chose these because they're the only ones he likes and thus must be the only ones worthy of being included in a nerd trilogy poll.
unfortunately there are plenty of other trilogies that deserve to be on this list as well even if they don't receive a popular vote count or are shunned by the self-proclaimed "nerds" of this board (i'd rather be a fucking geek any day of the week).
others have mentioned them, so i'm not going to go into detail... this poll is just gayer than two faggots fighting over a bag of gay dicks and fail.

The reason only those options were included is because, just like everything else in life, I put little to no effort or thought into it before hand, and just half assed it.

Terminator isn't in this poll because the third movie sucked?
Okay. Fellowship was pretty gay. 3 hours of setting up and character development. Woo hoo. I never cared for Jedi - it would have kicked righteous arse, but Lucas had to put the fucking Care Bears in it. And T3, while nowhere near as good as its prequels, kicks the shit out of any X-Men flick besides X2.
And if the trilogy had only had T2 and two gay porn episodes, it would still kick arse.
Because T2 is one of the best bloody flicks ever.

robert patrick was on "lex and terry" this morning talking about his role on the unit. no matter what... robert patrick is full of fucking win. he burns through win like rich fucks burn benjamins to keep themselves warm at night. and by extension, if for no other reason than his amazing mug graced the scenes of that movie, t2 is fucking amazing.
