I picked this up today. I gotta say, that Rewind option is gay as fuck and thank God it's removable, otherwise it'd ruin the game.

And I picked up the Special Edition XX one, the cyber player uniforms are pretty damn cool.

It's pretty much gay in the sense that you get a second chance (or six, depending on how many you pick) for either screwing up on a play or having a player get injured.

Screwing up and injuries are part of the game. It's a ridiculous feature.

Other than that, I like it a lot more than last year's. Presentation wise, it blows the other next-gen system releases out of the water. The Madden IQ is also a pretty cool feature. If you don't feel like using that, the four difficulty settings are still available too.

Yea, you can even use the Rewind feature on game changing plays, like a pick-6. My friend was a little bitch and pulled that one on me.

But I agree, the graphics are amazing. I played a snow game at Heinz Field and it looked so damn realistic. I'm definitely looking forward to playing this online.

The players seem harder to control. They can't change direction as fast as they did in 08. I don't like how they do a panoramic view at the start of each play. Makes it harder to see which player you are, and takes longer to call audibles.

Yep. Head Coach is for the franchise extreme person. It is very in depth in controlling the team and staff. I would justify buying the collectors edition just for head coach. It is suppose to go on sale by itself in the beginning of September.

Picked it up a few hours ago and played 4 games against my friends. This is a true next gen game. The presentation is great, from commentary to the player animations. The Do over, ahem "Rewind" is the lamest thing to come from EA so far. It took my friends and I like five minuets do decided to allow it at all and how many. I was lame b/c twice in one game I had an amazing touchdown and an epic return "rewound" and taken away.

Ok I've never really did superstar, but it seems to suck at least for me. I made a fullback, got drafted by the Colts. Ok great so far. I get little playing time which is ok, but when it's time for me to get on the field fucking Manning throws horrable passes and then I get negative influence, or I get no love with the blockers.

Is this normal or I'm just getting no love as a fullback?

Also there was another post by an EA employee that said he was able to narrow down where the lockups were happening the most, when someone would press the buttons very fast between the play finishing and trying to select your play for the next down. It would then lockup on the play calling screen. This has happened to me at least 6 times, and in the thread it happens on PS3 and 360, and on the regular game and collectors.

For me, Ryan has an awesome arm, but Harrington for what ever reason, makes all of the clutch passes for me, like 4th and 20, and he threads the needle for 23yards.

Yeah superstar sucks b/c even if you run your route correctly if you don't get good blockers your fucked and you don't get influence.

if your pushing buttons to quickly sometimes it freezes. Like trying to skip animations.

I've only played a handful of games since I got this for PS3, but its pretty cool. I played the shit out of Madden 08 for PS2 (I didnt like the PS3 version enough to buy it and have it for both systems). It is a little more challenging, but I think its just the learning curve of getting used to the new design.

I tried superstar mode with a WR first but I realized I am terrible at running routes and catching passes during training, plus I was drafted to the Rams. I started over with a QB which is nice because you have much more control. It sucks when you start playing games though because they always pick terrible plays for you and if you want to make any progress you usually have to audible (since you can't control the RB at that time).

Oh and for anyone else who feels like they suck...I played on pro mode against the Jets and I was the Pats. I threw like 3 picks with Tom Brady and Pennington couldn't miss a pass. I think he had a perfect QB rating. I somehow managed to win by a field goal, but its discouraging when you are used to playing 08 and blowing people out 63-10.

And I also heard they were going to do a roster to update to put Brett Favre on the Jets but I haven't seen it yet, and I don't remember where I read it.

Ok what I can't stand it playing online and people go for in on like 4th and like 28. I've finally found my stride with Taylor and Carter (Skins) I can sack them three times in a row, and then they go and get some b.s. 40 yard pass b/c I'm set up for a punt return. It's part of the game yes, but that not skill pushing the ball up field and making a legit touchdown is more fulfilling.

I would imagine that EA will turn its focus towards making Franchise and Super Star mode feel more like they should next year. It drives me nuts that they had it down so well on the Xbox version and as soon as it went to Next Gen, all that awesome was tossed for flashy graphics.

Yep that's been my problem. I've played only 3 games online and every one was me (Skins) vs the Chargers. Each one did a 3 and out and then got some miracle 53 yard pass and run in for the TD.

I on the other hand try and play a real game and get ok yards, but have terrible yards against avgs.

You just have to look. You can get a good indication by their career profile. Be smart about it.

Then once you find a person or two that play sim, then add them to your friends list.

I've been playing the same 20 or 30 guys since 2004, more or less. I'd rather play the same people over and over, and have awesome games...then EVER play lobby games.

that's what I normally do but with school starting back and everyone schedules all over the place there's not gonna be time for me and the guys to meet up and play. And even if we can we're prob just gonna watch the real games on Sunday.

why? even if they go without Merriman, I assure you they're getting at least 11 wins. plus their schedule isn't bad at all other than their matchups with NE, Pitt, and Indy.

unless Rivers and Gates aren't responding to the pounding following their respective surgeries, then possibly but I still think they'll do better seeing they went 9-7 a few years ago with arguably one the NFL's toughest schedules.

It's not really the team it self it's bs players who are like 4th and 18-29 and get lucky plays that open up for TD. I mean no real NFL team goes for in on 4th and 18

I don't run pass coverage really, because I almost always play as the middle linebacker. Doing that, you either spotlight a back, TE, rush the QB, or drop into a zone-type coverage. it's pretty simple to get the hang of....and then extremely effective once you get used to it.

Well it's b/c I play with the skins and always take control of Andre Carter. It's his job to go after the QB. I'll do pass coverage when I need to but when it's second down and their in the shotgun I'm coming for em.

It's when your in the selection for plays He'd be all like " go to the air and they'll never see it coming. I know what it is now. It's my brother when he picks plays he uses "Ask Madden" (loser) that's what it is. If you pick plays for your self it doesn't seem to do that.

I played a few Madden moments at my friends place... boy do I get lucky. I tried the Ravens vs. Patriots one, and somehow completed a 40 yard Hail Mary pass to Wes Welker in tight double coverage. I seem to have better luck passing than rushing when I play games too.

Don't fret my brother played football since we were 5 and plays madden every year once a day all during football season, He's gone 62 and 3 on me many of times.

The key to madden is treat it like an RPG first you find you species (team) what are their special skills (run, pass, defense etc) then you go and just keep playing with that team over and over again. (level up)
