So I'm not entirely sure if this is gonna be a weekly event after he takes office, but for now, I understand that as long as he is the President-Elect, this will happen every Saturday.

Enjoy and discuss.

Smart move on the part of Obama. He could have gone to the conference and otherwise stole the spotlight, drawing criticism about how we should only have one president at a time. Instead he speaks out through the Internet.

Short on substance though, save for the bit on unemployment benefits.

Hey Claydon! He hasn't even taken office yet. How are you going to up your righteous indignation level when he does, if you've already maxed it out now?

Is that bitterness I detect, or is it the feeling of abandonment that is shining through in the form of cynicism?

Wait, save it. It doesn't matter, because Barack Obama is gonna be President.

neither actually.

I will wait for him to fuck up and then rub your faces in it.

Oh yeah, thats bitterness alright. My friend, I know it well, I've been dealing with it the better part of 8 years.

But, in reality, by saying:

I will wait for him to fuck up and then rub your faces in it.
You essentially have already made the case that Obama will fuck up, and the first mis-step he makes you're gonna pounce on. There is no way on God's Earth I, or any other sane and rational person, could possibly argue with that kind of mindset and expect any degree of success. Your contempt for and bitterness surrounding Barack Obama is overwhelming, (considering he hasn't even been sworn in no less...) and so I'm willing to wager there is little to nothing he will ever say or do to break through that mindset.

But its cool, I felt the same way about W about six months after the invasion of Iraq, and still do to this day. So I know how you feel, and for what its worth, thats ok with me. Good luck convincing the rest of my more liberal brethren though...

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds like the left in 2001

Everybody--everybody--in this country was wiping Bush's cum off our chins after Sept. 11, 2001. Before that, yeah, the Left was bitter about the way the election was decided, but nobody was saying Bush would ruin the country, which is what everyone on the Right seems to be claiming Obama will do.

You really do sound like the left in '01 Claydon, you betcha. And just in my opinion, I'd say the left was vindicated in their feelings.

Will the right be vindicated in their feelings? Will Obama be as bad as W? Hey, anything is possible.

But I'm gonna put my money where my mouth is, and attest that I think Obama will be leaps and bounds better at governance and diplomacy than W was. But like I said, anything is possible, and I will keep an open mind.

I have never seen a president-elect keep such a high profile. he needs to just stay out of the limelight. announcing your cabinet picks should be all the press he gets until closer to januray.

it's called either "wait your turn" or "show some class" ...take your pick

Hey Claydon, hang in there.. You'll get your shot again with Palin in 2012... Best of luck with that...

Of course, it's quite obvious that Obama will be a 2 term president... He's just too cool for skool!

Actually, most conservative AND liberal feedback for this has been really positive. This seems like it could be the next logical step from the presidents newspaper -> radio -> television address.

Good luck republicans with the backlash if something did happen to him. A lot of people are already pissed at the right as it is. Something like that would 'encourage' an army of 'jack ruby's to pursue vindication.

Didn't you know? Only right wingers can assassinate!
Duh!

I mean, if Obama gets killed and the country goes 90 democrat with the sympathy backlash, you can see the benefits of the Republican party doing it...right?

This isn't really relevant but due to thread being about Obama and the net. I was amazed to find that a president can not use email of any kind and none have used a laptop in the oval office. He is going to be having withdrawals.

No, but it is the extreme right who are and have been, since Obama was nominated, making the extremist claims. How soon we forget the chants of 'Kill him" at republican rally's, or the foiled nazi plot, or the spike in hate crimes in republican areas in the south. It hasnt even been a year and you guys on the right have forgotten all about that.

But yea, lets all pretend that its not the right wing nutjobs that would/wish to/claim to/have planned assassination attempts. We can all live in dream land.

The laptop restriction might be because of security concerns. Those things kind wind up missing pretty easily--especially if Obama carries it with him around the White House and even AWAY from the White House.
