OTTAWA (Reuters) – Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday.
The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.
The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court. The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands.
The appeal had been launched by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet.

As a fat person, on behalf of fat people everywhere, I would like to say that I am not pleased with this ruling. Fat people don't need to be babyed by the system and expect special treatment just because we're lazy and have a bad diet. That is bullshit.

I know a guy who got 6 DWI's, and was considered disabled due to his "crippling addiction". Because of that "disability", he got a full scholarship to trade school, they even pick him up from home everyday.

My Sister in law got stuck in between the 2 fattest people on the plane on the 8+ hour flight from Dallas to Alaska. I think the worst part of it was that my wife and brother in law sat all together plaing cards, watching movies, and getting drunk the whole time while she just sat there and got sweat on by a white fat dude and an extremely obese fat black chick. She got off the plane and burst into tears.
AS far as being accomidating to fat people, I think the people that suffer the most from fatties on a plane are the ones that get stuck next to them. I think The least they could do is make every 2 fat people split the middle seat. And I hate that they are calling being a disgusting fat bastard a "disability".

See Canada, this is why nobody respects you around North America, not even Mexico. You want to give fat people 2 seats for the price of one, fine. But do they get 2 meals? Do they get to watch 2 movies? How many overhead bins do they get to stuff all of their fat luggage in? In other words, where do you draw the line? People have a hard time understanding this concept, but it’s okay to tell someone “no, you can’t have this.” They might be pissed temporarily, but they’ll find a way to get by. Or they kill themselves. In America, it’s always been one person, one seat. Except in the Macon City Council,where it’s one person, one seat, one bribe, 6-9 months in the slammer.

I've known for some time that the only thing our Supreme Court is good for is generally pointless "human rights" cases, but this sets a new and genuinely impressive standard of fucking pointlessness. A big fat fuck can now get two seats instead of one, and I can pay even more for my seat because fat-ass up at the front is taking up extra space on the plane. Why don't you just give him my shitty meal while you're at it because, after all, he does have a "disability" and must be accommodated in all ways possible. MAN THE FUCKING PLANE WITH TWIX BARS SO THE DISABLED FAT FUCK IN SEATS 15A AND B CAN SURVIVE THE RIDE!!!!!! This is exactly right and I couldn't put it any better. I agre 100% that the real issue is the people stuck next to them. I travel a lot and this is no fun at all.
