I had the day off work today, so I offered to do my dad a favour by going to vancouver to pick up a car he was having shipped up from california... I should be more specific, it wasn't in vancouver, it was in langley having some work done at a car dealership, and there are no direct bus routes that go from the ferries to that area... so I had to take the bus off the ferry to downtown, then the skytrain to surrey, then another bus to langley, before finally having to walk for about 30 minutes to the car dealership... all was fine when I picked up the car, and started on my way back to the ferries, but halfway there the dashboard lights started flickering on me a little bit... then more... then still more, until finally the entire dashboard just stopped working, all the lights, the speedometer, the odometer, everything just stopped working! But the car kept running fine, so I was okay to keep going. I get to the ferries and shut the car off and figure I'm home free, but when the line starts moving to load the ferry, the car won't shift out of park... turns out the entire electrical system is shot, and the shifter lock, is part of the electrical system... so, I can't move the car, so I'm stuck... fuck

so what else can I do but have the car towed BACK to the car dealership so they can fix it AGAIN, and walk on the ferry

so in short, I spent 12 hours running around vancouver and ultimately accomplished nothing

but hey, at least I got paid

I had the day off work today, so I offered to do my dad a favour by going to vancouver to pick up a car he was having shipped up from california... I should be more specific, it wasn't in vancouver, it was in langley having some work done at a car dealership, and there are no direct bus routes that go from the ferries to that area... so I had to take the bus off the ferry to downtown, then the skytrain to surrey, then another bus to langley, before finally having to walk for about 30 minutes to the car dealership... all was fine when I picked up the car, and started on my way back to the ferries, but halfway there the dashboard lights started flickering on me a little bit... then more... then still more, until finally the entire dashboard just stopped working, all the lights, the speedometer, the odometer, everything just stopped working! But the car kept running fine, so I was okay to keep going. I get to the ferries and shut the car off and figure I'm home free, but when the line starts moving to load the ferry, the car won't shift out of park... turns out the entire electrical system is shot, and the shifter lock, is part of the electrical system... so, I can't move the car, so I'm stuck... fuck

so what else can I do but have the car towed BACK to the car dealership so they can fix it AGAIN, and walk on the ferry

so in short, I spent 12 hours running around vancouver and ultimately accomplished nothing

but hey, at least I got paid
