I'm pretty sure Shane's gonna die, quite possibly by Vick's hand.
Something's got to involve Ronnie big time. He's been so obscure through out this series. Maybe he feels the pressure of the whole situation and after Vic kills Shane, he kills Vic. Either that or Shane kills them both. I don't know. Those are my predictions.

And Season 7 will end with a bang. I'm calling it that Vic and Shane shoot each other. No way either one is going to prison.

Claudette dying seems like the only one I have a strong feeling towards. they've been building up her disease for the last couple seasons, making it worse and worse, and really what else can her character do now that shes chief?

As I watch the final few episodes of the Shield, I am reminded that I still want Aceveda to be disgraced and ruined and Shane to be dead. I wish there had been time to develop the earlier storyline involving Dutch turning into a serial killer. Dutch was better as a unstable cop and should go back to strangling cats. Dutch will probably get Billings fired which is fine since Billings is even more of a joke than Dutch.

Jesussss christ, that might have been one of my favorite episodes of any show ever. I thought Claudette was going to fucking shoot every motherfucker in the ICE building.
My predictions:
Mara commits suicide, potentially Shane as well, if not, standoff with either Vic or Ronnie being the only survivors to either continue with ICE or go to jail, respectively. Probably not even close to what happens. Amazing.
I`m going to miss this show, but few series can say they`ve had 7 fantastic seasons with little to no shittiness. I think the only storyline I disliked was the Shrek Mackey daddy issues and rebellion
The Batman
11-19-2008, 11:51 AM
I thought mara was going to bite it last night, but I don't think she will go there just cause she is pregnant and has the kid. Shane however will bite it. My hope is that Vic lets Ronnie know what he did, and Ronnie at the very least can skip town. And the scene where Vic just spilled the beans on everything, whoah...
Ultimately, I am with everyone thinking that this is going to be a Departed ending, but I do think it will be more noble. Vic won't die in vain. And I hope there is some closure on Dutch's case with that psycho kid.

Great Episode this week. I’m surprised it took Vic that long to go back for the deal. I expected him to go back as soon as Ronnie took off. There seem to be some loopholes in the contract that Vic signed. Wasn’t one of the conditions that they finish the takedown of Beltran and Vic needs Ronnie to pull that off. It just seems that something in the fine print of the contract will comeback to bite Vic in the ass. That is if Ronnie doesn’t find out about the betrayal and kill Vic first. The Claudette meltdown and Vic confession scenes were superb.
So many possibilities for the finale. I say that Shane either is killed in a robbery, overdoses or eats his own gun. Ronnie probably goes to prison. Claudette is relieved of her command. Dutch and Billings continue to be douchebags. Acevada’s political aspirations are ruined by Vic’s confession. Vic is shot by a paranoid Corrine or maybe Corrine pulls a gun on Vic thinking he knows about her betrayal and Vic’s daughter kills Corrine or one of Vic's kids is killed in a struggle. It seems most likely that Vic survives and everyone else around him dies or is ruined in some fashion.

[QUOTE=Bastard;250374]Acevada’s political aspirations are ruined by Vic’s confession.QUOTE]
Yeah, that's likely. I think he and Claudette are going to work together towards nailing Vick, as the promo for next week shows the two of them together in the barn. I think Aceveda's going to put a wrench in the spokes of the drug deal with Beltran in order to take down Vick & Ronnie.
El Torpedo
11-21-2008, 02:07 PM
The Beltrame bust is supposed to be like the biggest drug bust in history though, so I don't see anyone getting much leeway in trying to prevent it just to nail one person (Ronnies already fucked)
The look on that ICE chick when Vic dropped the Crowley bomb was amazing
The Batman
11-21-2008, 02:42 PM
I think Vic will succeed in the bust but ultimately will die. So, does anyone think this guy is a hero? Anti-hero? villian? What catergory would you put him in??
Platzhouse
11-21-2008, 03:39 PM
I guess you would have to call him an anti-hero or a villain. He's done good in the past, stayed loyal to his team members and his family, etc. However, he's also done a lot of god awful shit, as the scene with him confessing to Olivia showed perfectly. The last few seasons you've had Cavanaugh on his ass about the things he'd done, but it took him actually saying it like that to realize what a villain he truly could be.
I'm interested in Chiklas's thoughts on the character, as he said when the season is finished he will discuss whether he was playing a hero or a villain. It's a tough question though, if a person does villainous things for the greater good, does necessarily make him an anti-hero? Keeping in mind, Vic also looks out for A, #1. most of the time.
Platzhouse

Holy good god damn. What does everyone think? Shawn Ryan said previously he hated David Chase's ambiguous ending of 'The Sopranos', do you think he was too vague himself? In my opinion it was pretty great, Vick delegated to office duty-the apotheosis of everything he hates, was perfect. I'm excited to see everyone's opinion. This show is my favorite.

Did you want us to think Dutch might have killed Rita (Frances Fisher)? There was that whole cat-strangling after all…
I never felt like Dutch was that far off on the deep end. But we joked about how, in the finale, Dutch would come home and unlock some padlock on a door leading to a basement and there would be a bunch of kids chained to the wall.

Not to get all deep and meaningful on you guys, but do you think this went on too long after Lem's death? That was the most shocking moment on the show, and it could have wrapped up much quicker without all the secondary character bullshit.
El Torpedo
11-26-2008, 06:17 AM
I loved the seasons after Lem but I think the buildup and that finale, Shane dropping the grenade and yelling "I'm sorry" was one of the best scenes I have ever seen. This show was as close to perfect as you can get, I don't think they lost anything by continuing on two seasons after Lem. They needed closure with Whitakers character that they couldn't really just wrap up quickly and needed to flesh out in season 5, and there was really no way they could focus on that and the strike teams realization of Shane murdering Lem, in my opinion.
I don't think it was Dutch that murdered Rita and I liked how they left that open, I think if he hadn't focused himself on becoming a detective he easily could have been a serial killer, but I think his thrill is from killing cases so to speak and not people.
The finale was excellent, I felt so bad for Ronnie the whole time because really, aside from Lem he was the most honorable of the strike team. Though to be fair they all really did make their graves with Terry Crowley, I think Lem was the only one who truly believed it wasn't Vic. The rest of their shit was fairly justifiable. Going to miss this show but I'm glad it wrapped without any shittiness.
Annnnnd I think the last scene was pretty clearly pointing out that Vic Mackie was going to become the Punisher.

Hahaha, I thought exactly the same thing.
And yeah, the kid was the killer, there are no doubt in my mind. They tried to acknowledge everybody in the finale, which was nice, they did it without pathos, which was great. Shane got the greatest ending, of course, the "happiest" one, they left as a family, on his own term, and they're probably better off that way. Nothing good was waiting for them for the rest of their life.
And now that Vic is stuck in an office, maybe they should do a spin-of/crossover with the Office. Vic, Michael and Dwight sharing the same space should be fun.

In the note, it said Shane drugged the drinks of his wife and son and obviously neither was aware of what Shane had planned. Shane always was a weak, fucked up individual. I thought the scene with Shane and Vic on the phone was excellent. It summed up both characters pretty well. Shane always wanting to be like Vic and Vic hurting and driving everyone around him away.
I enjoyed the finale. The only minor point was not seeing Acevada fail but since that too was left open to interpretation, I’ll just assume he loses the election or is hurt in some manner. Overall, the Shield was a really great series that ended on a high note and is worth having in everyone’s video library.
