With only a couple weeks left of the '08 movie season, I thought we could look forward to 2009, and see what everyone's looking forward to.
There are a few that I think everyone has on their list...but personal preferences vary. But 2009 looks to have a good chunk of potential good ones, and surprisingly, they aren't all sequels (although reboots and spinoffs are there)
So post your personal Top 10 movies you are looking forward to seeing in theaters for 2009 (and maybe an explanation why).
Here's mine:
1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Love Hugh, and despite his height and good looks...he fucking IS Wolverine. One of my favorite comic book characters, so I'm stoked.
2. Terminator Salvation - Right now, I don't know if Bale can do any wrong. This is a film that most everyone who has ever seen the Terminator movies have been wanting to see, including myself.
3. Public Enemies - Bale + Depp + Mann = spooge. Michael Mann is one of my favorite directors, and with him having Bale and Johnny Depp, it will be hard pressed to not be good.
4. Star Trek - I think Abrams has "it". Don't know what "it" is, but he has it. The cast looks great, and not being an insane Trek fan, I can go into this without picking apart every detail.
5. Watchmen - It's extremely sad how much I am looking forward to this movie, seeing how I've still yet to read the novel...
6. Sherlock Holmes - Great character, done by a fantastic actor. Within the span of barely a year, Downey has comepletely redefined himself. About damn time too.
7. Year One - I look forward to almost anything my boy JB is in, but I really think this could be epic.
8. Land of the Lost - I'm almost more intriqued by this as I am "looking forward" to it. It could be lots of fun, or painfully bad.
9. Fast and Furious - The first one was such a perfect popcorn flick, that to see Walker and Diesel back together might make this series interesting again. Plus cars! They go fast!
10. Drag Me to Hell - My wildcard pick. Raimi back where he belongs...with blood being splattered. Don't know if it will be R or PG-13, but I will at least keep an eye on it, because I know Raimi can do a good horror movie. If only the lead was The Chin, though...
