about my not having a intro post. I guess being around here since 04-2005 (http://archive.gorillamask.net/member.php?u=1750) and not having a large post count. Demands that I introduce myself every time I post, for some people. So for those individuals here's your intro post.
Been here since 04-05 and you don't know how to read THE FUCKING RULES (www.meatspin.com)?

Here you go
The short version:
I was stabbed in the right eye by a civilian after he slit my throat.
The long version:
A little background before I get into the meat of the story
In January of 1994, my unit (1/187INF, 101st) was on a field training exercise conducting static defense training. Basically these amounts to digging full fledge fighting positions armpit deep with 18inch overhead cover, triple strand concertina wire, and claymore mines. So we deployed out on the exercise on a Monday and started to digging late that night, we proceeded to dig in positions until Wednesday morning. On Thursday morning we woke up around 04:00hrs and got into our positions for a live fire exercise. This basically means for about an hour we unload as much ammo as we can, to included 66mm and 88mm mortars, 50cal MG, Mk19 AG, M60 mg and various other standard arms, this lasted from 06:30hrs to until about 07:30hrs. At around 08:00hrs we were given the all clear to begin to disassembly the defense and prep to return to the rear. We completed the recovery of the defense around 22:00 Thursday night. Now imagine we spent 2 and half day installing and prepping the defense and we were able to recover all the sandbags, concertina wire and pickets from the field, load them on the trucks and police the area fro equipment all in about14 hours. Give you idea how much material this is, my platoon of 30 men had deployed roughly 24 x 50ft rolls of concertina wire, 200 ft of tangle foot, 150 x 1ft pickets, 200 x 12 ft pickets,75 x 6- 8 in logs and 10:00hrs sandbags. We also dug 12 x 2 man fighting positions, 2 x M60 positions and 1 platoon cp, all with 18in of overhead sandbag. So after recovering all of that information we began to walk toward the truck pickup location, about 6 km. After loading the trucks and returning to the barracks, around 00:00hrs. We immediately began to clean weapons and equipment, this lasted to around 05:00hrs on Friday. Once we had all the equipment clean and turned in we were dismissed around 06:00hrs.
We this is were the story gets interesting. After being dismissed one my buddies ask me to give him a ride home so he did not have to call his wife, so I gave him a ride home. When we arrived at the house around 07:00, we were meet by to guys that were friends of his wife. They informed us that she had left my buddy, but wanted to talk to him in a public place. So while my buddy took a quick shower they made arrangements to meet his wife. So after they return from making the arrangements, roughly 08:00 we all loaded in to my car and headed out to the meeting location. I was driving and my buddy was up front. We went about 10 mins down the road to a closed muffler shop to meet the wife. AS we pulled up in front of the shop, the guy behind me reached up and slit my throat, luckily he was not real bright and was using a serrated steak knife, I think it surprised him when I reached up and grabbed the knife blade, because dropped the knife and began to choke me with a sleeper hold. I am not sure how many times I passed out but I remember waking up at least twice, with his arms around my neck. After the second time he suddenly let go of me, it was at this time I was, or so I thought, punched in the right eye and then it was really quiet in my car. Not knowing where or what was up with my buddy. I quickly gathered my self together and went to get help. I did take a look in the review mirror before getting out of the car and thought to myself, I am going to have one hell of a shiner when I go back to work. I then ran out into the street to get help, by now it was about 09:00 and right in the middle of morning rush hour. Of course very few people are willing to stop for a guy covered in blood, camo paint, dirt, and dress in BDU’s.
It does not bother me that the single women in a car by themselves did not stop, but when a dually F-150 king cab with 4 construction works slow down , look at you and then stomp on the gas, you get e little pissed off. Well finally I got a car to stop and I just sat on this poor ladies hood until a sheriff arrived. From here on I don’t remember a whole lot of what happened. I remember the EMT arriving, and them having a discussion about cutting the boot strings out of my boots. I remember some of the ride to the post hospital, and I remember being rolled into the ER. I remember taking my wedding ring off my finger, so that they did not have to cut it off. I remember talking to my wife before going into surgery. I remember telling some nurse, in recovery, to leave me the f’ck alone because I had not had any sleep in about 30hrs, I think it was a Major, but I am not sure. I remember waking up around 20:30 with the Chaplin hold my hand and praying. You know it can very un-nerving to wake up and find a Chaplin there. You never know if he is praying for you or giving you last rights.
I was told later that I was in surgery for 10hrs; I had a laceration to my left hand between the middle two fingers, down to the bone, from grabbing the knife. I had a 10-12cmlaceration to the right side of my throat; luckily he missed the jugular vein by a millimeter. I had a 21mm laceration to my right eye; again I was lucky he missed the retinal artery by a millimeter. The doc told in both cases had he been a little better with his knife I would bleed out in the car almost immediately. I guess he should have found a better knife.
Over the next 6 months I went through 3 more surgeries to repair the damage to my right eye. But in the end they were not able to repair the eye, at the time my vision was 800/20. I continued on active duty until April of 1998, when my vision had degraded enough in the right eye to warrant being medically retired from the service. So here I am a retired disable veteran with only one good eye.
One of the funniest thing that came out of this entire event was when the hospital called my wife to have come in. The nurse on the line would only tell her that I had been hurt in an incident. So when she asked about my buddy the nurse told her he had been stabbed. I guess they figured she would not put 2x2 together.
As post script; the guy that slit my throat was sentenced to 17 months for Aggravated Assault. The jury just did not believe that he was attempting to kill me when he slit my throat. They never were sure which of the two guys stabbed me in the eye.
I hope you like my story. It normally stops people in their tracks when I say I was stabbed.

Buddies wife wanted the GI insurance more than her husband and friends that were willing to help her obtain it.

He suffered ten minor stab wounds to the face, hand and buttocks. After he left the hospital, he moved back in with his old lady, had a kid and she left him wit half his paycheck and the kid. She was a BAQ bitch.
