I think considering he probably still has several good years ahead of him, he still has a good legitimate shot at making the superbowl with some team somewhere.

3 Pro Bowls, no Super Bowl appearances, no MVPs. Owns one marginally significant NFL record. Has had a significant injury, calling his long-term durability into question. To me, right now he falls behind Rich Gannon, so at this point, the answer is a resounding no. He will have to either a) play on better teams, or b) show the ability to carry a team on his back to the Super Bowl, or c) play for a very long time, or perhaps two of those three.

He shouldn't get it today but this is certainly a guy who can make the hall of fame if he gets on a better team. If New Orleans got a better defense they could also make a really legitimate run at a title. Besides, there are very few Qb's who are playing right now that deserve to go the hall of fame.

Brady, Peyton, (Favre). Not a bad group.

True, but consider how small of a group that is. How many teams are in the NFL? How many QB's per team? Of any of the non shoe in's, Bree's probably has the best shot. Besides *maybe* the other manning brother.

Brees will have to win some hardware whether it be an OPY, MVP, or a Superbowl (At least one appearance). I would say he'd be a lock if he could replicate this season two or three times over (near or past 5000 yards), even if he didn't get any hardware for it, but I find that feat nearly impossible.

He plays in a sick offense and puts up sick stats. While the Saints continue to struggle defensively and to run the ball this will continue. Plus we all know how much voters love stats.

Hah, Warner won't sniff the Hall.
Hah, Warner won't sniff the Hall.
Twice MVP, Superbowl champion, hyper efficient, TD machine? The only thing I see potentially keeping him from the Hall is limited career playing time.

For Brees to get into the hall, he'll need to play at least another 8 - 10 years and pretty much more than double all of his stats to have a chance. Spruce in a visit to a Superbowl, a string of Pro Bowl apperances, and greatly improve his win/loss record (can't find accurate record of it, but I imagine is not as good as Marino's at the same point in Dan's career)

Hall of Fame QBs don't sit on the bench for years. He had those three great years (2 really) in St. Louis (which I'm sure people will look and see that he had two HoF WRs and a HoF RB to play with), but then went into mediocrity until last year in Arizona. And he was going to be relegated to the bench again this year but Leinart failed to take the starting job. Warner is not a HoF QB.

I am with the Jew on this one. Warner could sneak in one day, but there are plenty of people ahead of him.

I think by the time his career is done, he'll have HOF numbers. He's still got a ways to go.

you can squarely place the blame for the injury on Marty Schottenheimer.

No, 3 really. And there isn't a player in the Hall who has had a better 3 year stretch than that.
How many years did Steve Young sit on the bench for?
You guys are talking about 3 fucking years.
STFU about Warner. Jeff Garcia had 3 good years too. HOF for Garcia! Fuck, anyone else out there have 3 good fucking years we can throw in the Hall? Lets throw Romo in the hall after next season. Duante had some good seasons.........
Steve Beuerlein was bad ass too. HOF!

Why did he sit on the bench? Oh yeah, JOE FUCKING MONTANA.
Warner? Um, cause he fumbles like it's cool and he sat behind 2 rookies. ROOKIES.

Mattingly had a set of good years, Koufax had a set of good years. One is a HoFer, one is not. Just saying "good year" is not enough, there is a difference in level.
Yeah, no shit. HOF is a level. Warner is another level.

I think Brees will make it one day, if he makes it to his 15th/16th season.
He is playing better in New Orleans than in San Diego, so I don't buy that he has to switch teams or make it to the Super Bowl. If he gets to the 50,000 career passing yards mark, I'd say he is in. Whether he lasts that long - right now at 26,000 in his 8th year - is a toss-up. I think with his fame and those high stats he has a great chance irrespective of the lack of awards.
Warner has one of the highest career passer ratings and career completion percentages in the league. I would not be surprised to see him make the HoF after 5 years or so of allegibility. He has name recognition, mediocre stats, 2 MVPs, and a Super Bowl MVP. He is in no way a shoe-in, like Favre, Brady, and Manning, but I would not count him out. I'd say, it depends how he ends his career too.

He has a chance, but at this point in time, I have to say no. He's gotta get deeper into the playoffs or put up some Manning/Brady type numbers for a season with regards to TDs. I agree with Genius that he's somewhere in the neighborhood of Rich Gannon, although I think he will be more highly-regarded since he has many good years left.

Warner's 2000 year wasn't that great. 21 TDs, 18 INTs? That's Favre-ian. And as I said earlier, dude played with two HoF WRs and a HoF RB (and I forgot he had HoF LT Pace guarding his blindside).
