I don't know whether anybody noticed, but the acting and dialogue in ANH weren't exactly world-class, either.
I liked III for the same reason I like V. Lots of exotic settings on different planets, a shitload of battles, and Vader killing people left, right, and centre. Yes, the plot and directing of V were miles better, but still.
However, Lucas should NEVER write a dialogue, let alone a screenplay, EVER AGAIN. What made V (and to a lesser degree VI, though the Ewoks fucking ruint that one for me) great was that Lucas was less involved.

Episode I was actually all right. Episode II was an affront to man and science. Episode III was good in the way Terminator 3 was good, with fun action but acting and directing that made me want to nap in a furnace.

I didn't find she wasted ammo, she is awesome the an MG. She only got in a may a few times, and did save my ass a few times. She didn't do much in way of killing, but she had her purpose.
