We'll get a chance to see both of these future Hall of Famers in action this weekend, and I was wondering who you guys think is better. If you had to win one game, right now, who would you take?

Polamalu, because fuck Ed Reed.

In reality, I have no idea.

One totally biased vote for Polamalu.

I'm not sure at this point Troy Polamalu is in the sure hall of fame category just yet.

Reed is.

I like Troy a lot... but this shouldn't even be close.

Reed's name has come up so many times this season...easily better

Ed Reed is a fucking monster. Troy is good but Ed Reed is on another level.

Brian Dawkins is a beast as well. Some really good safties going at it this weekend.

I'd go with Reed, but that's no slam on Troy. Both are beasts.

I only know who Polamalu is because Richie told me my prom date looked like him with the crazy hair.

I think that right now Reed is better, but he's about done (Came into the league late, lots of serious, nagging injuries that will never go away).

This year: Ed Reed. I feel like offenses should send a WR deep every time just to keep him busy. His ability to cover ground and make plays is just unreal.

For the future though, I'd take Polamalu, he's got more years and more leadership (nothing to knock Reed, it's just he plays with Ray Motherfucking Lewis).

Reed... but I am a bit biased.

And Troy Polamalu plays with the defensive player of the year...

No contest this year. Ed Reed blows em all away.

Ed Reed is more of a ball hawk but, Troy has a certain presence on the field. They are both great safeties, you couldn't go wrong with either one.

Chuck Cecil would have killed either one of them on the field....literally.

Looks like the right answer is Polamalu.

Looks like you don't understand what you're watching, unless that post was satirical.
10 INTs in 8 games and you're judging this entirely on one performance - in which Reed takes on one of the league's most experienced postseason QBs and Reed takes on a rookie.

Tua used to be funny or at least had some of the dryest wit on GMF. He's just an annoying blatherer now. Why is he still a mod?

Ed Reed 0-3. Troy Polamalu 3-0.

After yesterdays game we have the answer......

Polamalu does a lot of the small things that make a difference. He Blitzes and is involved in almost every defensive play on the field. If you haven't seen the interception he had against San Diego during the regular season, check it out. That may be the play of the year and tells you alot about his hustle. (He also had a fumble recovery that should have been a touchdown in that game, but I'm not bitter.)

After that one handed interception against San Diego a month ago! I gotta go with Troy

I don't watch enough football to know the answer to this but is Ed Reed just a great ballhawk (and one of the best ever at returning INT's) or is he as complete a player as Polamalu who seems to be involved in every play?

Some people view INT's the way they view blocks and steals in the NBA as the tell all defensive stat when they don't really say how many times the player let his man completely get past him only to bail himself out every once in a while with a steal or a block while the rest of the time, the guy has a free run to the basket. This as opposed to a truly great defender who may not get many steals but will deny the ball all day and then deny any path to the hoop if the guy does get it. People thought of Deion as a great corner but he didn't get many pics because nobody threw it his way. An OF with a cannon in baseball frequently won't get many assists because he never gets tested while the shitty OF can lead the league because he's constantly tested and has 5x as many opportunities for assists. I believe Bill James made that comparison back in the day with Lonnie Smith and Dave Winfield.

I would have to go with "Other", namely Brian Dawkins.

I'd have to go with Polamalu for my team. He brings more of a presence and is a much better leader. Ed Reed is too much of a "me" player.

Oddly enough, I thought Polamalu was actually pretty poor in the superbowl. How may tackles did he absolutely whiff on?
