That's pretty good stuff, but I tend to get annoyed with music when it turns out to just be noise. It's only really enjoyable live.
I've been listening to Loscil a TON lately. It's relaxing but not boring, and perfectly put together.

The main problem with indie music is that there's too much bands out there and it's kinda hard to find the good ones.

Last.fm and myspace are great tools. Myspace because bands are typically friends with bands that have a similar sound, and last.fm has an actual SIMILAR ARTISTS section under each band.

yeah, but sometimes last fm recommends me the gayest shittiest music ever. Like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
It's supposed to be similar to the national, the shins, interpol, vampire weekand and neutral milk hotel but i don't like it. at all.

Quantum Leap
01-26-2009, 02:31 AM
So I happen to like a group that Pitchfork like? They had Radiohead at number 1 for the 90's...that means anyone that ever bought OK Computer is a Pitchfork stooge? Fuck you.
mongo
01-26-2009, 02:34 AM
that means it isn't indie. that means one of the top 3 music publications in any form of media gave it the highest ranking possible. yes, pitchfork did give radiohead #1 for the '90's list, but do you consider them indie? yeah, i didn't think so.
Quantum Leap
01-26-2009, 02:42 AM
Who ever said Radiohead was indie? This thread is Indie/Electronic music...If I'm not mistaken The Knife fall into both of those genres. I was making a point mentioning Radiohead, lets not make them the basis of our conversation.
mongo
01-26-2009, 02:45 AM
you compared the knife to radiohead in your argument. thus, you drew the comparison, not me. all i'm saying is, how can radiohead be #1 on a site and not be indie, and yet the knife can achieve the same status and stay indie? electronic, yes. indie, no. the knife, sufjan stevens, modest mouse, etc... have jumped the shark. get the fuck over it.
Quantum Leap
01-26-2009, 02:48 AM
I compared the two because you called me "Mr. Pitchfork". They were both given top accolades be Pitchfork, and if I'm not mistaken (I can't believe I used that phrase twice in a row) The Knife are signed to Rabid Records, a label they started themselves to distribute their music...which makes them very much an indie band.
mongo
01-26-2009, 02:51 AM
every label starts to distribute a band all on it's own. grow the fuck up.
Quantum Leap
01-26-2009, 02:57 AM
I should grow up? Good to know coming from a pedantic little fool overly concerned with bullying people.
Anyway, The Knife - Silent Shout is one of the greatest electronic albums I've come across. I was pretty burnt out on the whole "techno" thing since Dig Your Own Hole, but I've been pretty much obsessed with Silent Shout for 2 years now. I can't wait to see what they go for next.

I know far more about music than you do. The Knife isn't mainstream (yet). The end.
Modest Mouse are all over TV and Radio. Sufjan Stevens and the Knife aren't.
Oh, and P.S. if he just heard about The Knife now, from Pitchfork, then he is a faggot, but it doesn't change my stance that the Knife isn't mainstream yet.
