Please. The Cards and Eagles got hot at the right times...Your "Steelers" barely managed a .500 record vs the NFC this year. Not to mention, what the Giants did you your "unstoppable" Pat's last year. The AFC reign is over, regardless of this game.
Not to mention...you found a way to have a worse divsion than the NFC West...a miracle in itself, with the AFC West...the Worst Division in Football.

Steelers by 24 or they suck
I'll be interested to see how Whiz and Grimm try and exploit Pitt's weaknesses since they're the ones that used to try and cover them up.
But I still see Pitt winning by a decent margin. I'm stuck between hoping it's a blowout and wanting a good game.

Warner has the quick release. That's big against the Steelers. The key is bringing Roth down when you have a chance, and not giving him the extra time to make big plays.
Oh, and not having penalties which take you from 30 yards away from winning the game, to backed up on your own 15.

A few years back Gruden left Oakland to take a surprising Tampa Bay team to the Super Bowl where he axed his old team. Whisenhunt is going to do the same thing.
The Arizona defense did not look as solid yesterday as they did against Carolina and Atlanta, but the Cardinals are peaking. They are playing better in the post-season than they did the last month of the regular season.
I also think the Steelers beating the Ravens could be the equivalent of the Lakers beating the Spurs in 2004. The Lakers ran out of gas afterwards with everyone thinking the Finals would be a cakewalk, and got steamrolled by Detroit. After watching that brutal game in Pittsburgh, I could easily see the team being too worn down to stop the thriving Arizona offense.
I admit I just want to see Arizona win and would not be surprised to see Pittsburgh's defense win, but the Cardinals have all the karma.
Fuck karma, this is sports, not a My Name Is Earl or a Disney Movie

If the Steelers are still beat up and tired after two weeks of rest, they deserve to lose.
This will be a boring game, the Cardinals will manage less than 80 yards rushing, Warner will be sacked 3+ times and will rush a throw that will be intercepted, Parker will get 100+, most of it in the second half, Roethlisberger will throw for around 270 and 2 scores, and Pittsburgh will win comfortably but won't blow Arizona out.
Polamalu vs. Fitz is where it's at

Fitz all day long. Polamalu is great at blitzing and knocking someone out but I am not sold on him covering a great WR like Fitz all day.
Genius
01-19-2009, 03:57 PM
Because Polamalu won't cover Fitz. At all. Ike Taylor will cover Fitz, James Harrison and Lamar Woodley will force Warner to throw before he wants to, and Polamalu will step into the throwing lane. Just like Pittsburgh has done all year.

Its going to be a tough game and a closer game then most of you think. Warner picks up a blitz as good as anyone in the league. Pittsburgh is the best at blitzing. Its going to be awesome watching these two go at it.

I just found out something that is kind of fucked up.
The NFL always has an 11 member military detail that does the color guard before the game for the National Anthem. It has always been the practice that after the color guard the service members are allowed to stay and watch the game. For some reason the NFL has decided to change that policy this year. After the presentation of colors, the color guard will be escorted out of the stadium and not allowed to watch the game. Fuck the NFL, that's bullshit.
Hanover Fist
01-23-2009, 09:43 AM
Link?
There is no link yet, it was just related by members of the color guard that they were informed that they were not going to be able to stay and watch the game. There have been inquiries to the NFL on some of the blogs I visit, but they haven't received an answer from the NFL yet. As soon as they do I'll post it. I'm sure once this gets out the NFL will suddenly change their minds.
The original report of this came from Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of Multi-National Force–Iraq when the parents of one of the Marines in the color guard called him and told him what was occurring. He was asked if he could contact someone in the NFL and have the policy changed.

The real game everyone was waiting for this Sunday, has been canceled!
LAND O' LAKES - The football event (http://suncoastpasco.tbo.com/topic/k/football-event/) of the season has been canceled.
No, not the one at Raymond James Stadium. The one with scantily clad women (http://suncoastpasco.tbo.com/topic/k/scantily-clad-women/) playing tackle football at Caliente Spa and Resort.
The Lingerie Bowl (http://suncoastpasco.tbo.com/topic/k/lingerie-bowl/) has been officially canceled, Stephon McMillen, a spokesman for the Lingerie Football League, announced Sunday in an e-mail.
The cancellation is the result of a conflict over where nudity would be allowed during the event. The Lingerie Football League, which is organizing the game, has requested that people stay dressed in certain areas of the resort. That's something the clothing-optional resort would not agree to.
McMillen (http://suncoastpasco.tbo.com/topic/k/mcmillen/) wrote that the league was "forced to cancel" the event because Caliente officials have "chosen to breach their agreement in relation to our previously agreed upon 'clothing mandate' during our broadcast and events at the resort."

The Party Essentials: The Big Game
Having a gathering to watch the Super Bowl is a traditional party, full of a lot of fun, and a lot of food. When it’s time to watch the Super Bowl, and have a gathering at home, it’s tough to find the tailgate fare that will please everyone, and be party appropriate. Whether you’re firing up the grill at home, making do with a broiler inside, or even tailgating at the stadium, the big game demands grilled food, cold beer, and enough to please the crowd at your party. How can you put on the best Super Bowl party at your house? There’s some great beers and great recipes for you to try, as well as some great cigars to enjoy with the Super Bowl. The SportsLife 5 Greatest Super Bowls (And What Makes Them Great)
In the NFL, there’s four types of games for the Super Bowl to be labeled: A blowout, a yawnfest, the Upset, and the Instant Classic. Now the first two are never fun to watch for the average fan, so unless you’re a diehard fan for one team or the other, we can dispense with how a blow out is great (starting the party early), and the yawner (the highlight is normally the commercials). That leaves us with the final two type of Super Bowls we may wind up with this very year: The Upset, and the Instant Classic. READ MORE (http://www.lifeepicurean.com/?p=1701)

What's the difference between encroachment and offsides?
Encroachment is called when a defensive player comes across the line and makes contact with an offensive player before ball is snapped.
Offside is called anytime a defensive player is in the neutral zone or beyond the line of scrimmage (without making contact) when the ball is snapped. This can happen when they've lined up in the neutral zone, or when they've jumped early.
