Ok, so the new season has finally come back to regular television for those of you who don't have Direct TV. The time line seems to have advanced since last season's episode. After watching the first episode of this season, will it be able to hold up?

Looks like the show is heading towards a new reboot of players but still keeping the Coach and Mrs. T around. With Riggin's going off to college, I would imagine we'll see more new characters coming up. By the way, it's going to be awesome to see how Coach deals with Julie taking it from Saracen.

Yeah, I had seen a few rumors of a two year deal. If it is true, that is excellent news, because it feels like the writers have rushed some story lines in the past perhaps thinking they might get the ax.

Yeah I've noticed that to. It will be interesting to see how they handle the graduations in the next season. Great news about the renewal though. It's definitely one of the top 5 shows on TV.

I'm sure it will be like they did this season. The graduates will appear in a few eps to wrap up their arcs, but the focus will be on the coach and the new kids. Maybe Saracen will be more involved if he's still dating Julie, but the rest will probably be in just a couple shows--at least that's what I read will happen with Minka Kelly's character, because she's also got a new pilot.

That's the part I found silly. I mean, it's not like Coach didn't win a title and get runner up in three seasons there. And they dump him because a guy is willing to pump money into a program for three more years until his son moves on? And he can just pick a coach? McCoy wasn't even an established guy in the community. They just moved there.

Coach should sue the shit out of them.

I know she's losing her mind, but she just had that conversation with Julie in the stands about not wanting to hold Saracen back. So you'll let him be your primary caregiver and not go to art school?

The closing shot couldn't have been more depressing. That field looked like total shit, but if I had to bet the East Dillon Lions will better than the Dillon Panters.

I just find it hard to believe that a school that takes its football as seriously as they do would dump a coach that brought them a title and a runner up in three seasons as quickly and without notice as they did. If it was about money, I think having a successful and proven coach who gets you to a title game twice in three years probably brings in plenty for the district. And McCoy just does his own negotiations to get a new coach? That is completely out of protocol. No way this all goes down like it did. It's just as ridiculous as how coach left and came back like he did (though I think the writers may have written into a corner there thinking they wouldn't get a second season).

Maybe they could get away with it because it was a reassigning of sorts, but I still doubt it would be handled in this way.

How big is Dillon supposed to be? I was under the impression that it was basically an Odessa knockoff (like the movie/book), which is 90,000. But if the town only has one high school, no way that's the population. Maybe more like 30K. Anybody remember what class they play in?
