I've been doing some work on my home network and I realized I probably have too many fucking computers. I was curious what all you other bastards have for a setup. Here's what I've got going on right now.
PC#1 - E-Machine W3644: Workstation
Processor = 2.1 Ghz AMD Sempron

Monitor = Dell 22" Widescreen Monitor
PC#3 - Dell Dimension 3100E: Workstation/Media PC
Processor = 2.80 Ghz Pentium 4
OS = Windows XP Pro
Memory = 2GB
Storage = 320GB SATA x 2, 320 GB External WD MyBook x 3
Monitor = RCA 46" Widescreen LCD Television
PC #4 - Dell Studio Hybrid 140G: Workstation

NETWORK
Modem = Arris GM450 Cable Modem
Router = LinkSys BEFSR41 10/100 Wireless A/B/G

Apple Airport Express 802.11n = Streams Audio From Mac #1 to seconday reciever. Remote controlled by an 8gb iPod Touch.
I figured it out that compared to the ISP I work for my shit, minus the rack mounts they have is rival to their setup. I also have what basically amounts to a personal phone company setup between my house and a buddie's house... The guy on the other end of my VPN tunnel. He actually has a few rack mounts there, the sister to my Domain Controller, a TrixBox (Our Phone Company), 2-3 Macs, and 2-3 PC's, etc.
With just a nudge we could be a full blown ISP/Phone Company.

Business.... I have GMF, plus the ISP I work for, plus I have other investments/ventures that you assholes don't know about. A lot of the crap around here is for testing. Like I setup a Visual Source Safe Server a few days ago just to learn how to do it for work.

I built the main desktop about a year and a half ago. Incredibly fun, I'll probably never buy a pre-built desktop again. Desktop 2 was an old Gateway, I replaced all the internals about 3 years ago. The T40 was free, nabbed it from work. The D400 I picked up for $200 about 2 years ago. They're old and cheap, but they do what I need them to. I also have a couple VMs I run, one is Server 2003 with SMS installed. I use this for testing, we're implementing a new deployment system at work. The other is the Windows 7 beta.

I have no idea. I had a geek buddy do it all for me. I know it's got 1 partition for the OS and then 2 others. 1 for baby pics and 1 for crap.
I'm thinking about adding another monitor but not sure if it's really worth it when I have a 22 now and have been using a dinky little laptop for months now so this thing seems like a drive in movie screen already.

What did this all set you back, if you don't mind my asking? (or prices per each item?)
Everything looks pretty decent there overall. What OS will you be installing? Purchased, or other?
The only thing that catches my eye, as you'd mentioned in another thread a SLI setup, is your power supply. Are you planning on setting up SLI in the future with this card? Or would you possibly be upgrading your Vid card/etc as you see fit? If you do this you may find that you'll want to upgrade your power supply as well. As it stands i think yoiu'll be fine, and although there are more powerful components out there (there always are, right?) what you've got as a setup now should be very nice.
Depending on how much stuff you're gonna have running, I may recommend at least another 2GB of RAM. Only because I have 8GB installed, and with having all of my "useful" programs running in the background see an idle usage of appx 3.5GB at any one time. So in leaving yourself plenty of space. . .but again always something you can upgrade.
Your system itself will surely last you a good while, and I'm sure you'll be happy overall with your purchase!

I wasn't home at all today and have yet to try it out. it's one of the games I"m most excited to try however I've not done it. why? Setting up my joystick on my overpopulated desk is a pain in the ass. I will do it most likely tomorrow or something tho.
I also have TrackIR set up on my system so this should make FSX VERY interesting.

SLI? Sorry but I'm a techtard. I know how to use it and that's it although I'd like to learn more about hardware at some point.
I wanted a fast box but not necessarily cutting edge never mind bleeding edge. It gets to the point where price increments go from $10 to the next step to a huge jump for the following step.
He had Windows XP for me which is what I wanted.
$1050 plus I threw a friend $50 to put it together.
I'm not a gamer so I wasn't planning on upgrading the vid card. This is really just for surfing and editing baby pics/vids. Probably overkill if anything.
I was going to upgrade ram but he said I don't need it now but there's room on the board in the future to get up to 8 GB if need be.

You have Windows XP, is it the 32-bit version? if so, you'll not quite get use of all of your RAM. If you ever upgrade your memory you'll need a 64-bit OS. Depending on how much editing you're doing and how much you have going on you may end up wanting more RAM. .otherwise you should be good.
For what you're wanting, this system should definitely keep you happy.
You dont' need SLI for what you're doing anyhow. I'd thought you might be doing more gaming at some point.

Honestly Microsoft's 64bit line of Operating Systems is so poor you'll prolly get better performance sticking with 32bit. Big mistake installing Server 2003 64bit for my Exchange server, things always been flakey
And Syndicate, you are a beast with that setup.
As for my setup, I just installed Gentoo about a month ago. Before that was Ubunutu, Vista, and even Windows 7. 2 gigs of ram and a core2duo doin me well here.
