Activision is still fucking gay. They are completely retarded when it comes to what people want.
They took over the Guitar Hero franchise and fucked it up. Then they buy out this developer, and decide that a extremely hyped Ghostbusters game is not as worthy as a fucking Clatchet and Crank or whatever that fucking series is called.

n February 2008, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios head Phil Harrison resigned to become president of Atari parent company Infogrames. Since then the gaming world has been eager to find out what he's been up to. Today, Harrison, alongside Infogrames CEO David Gardner, used the Matter nightclub at London's O2 Arena to reveal all. One of Atari's first announcements from the event was for Aki Corporation's Ready 2 Rumble Revolution. Originally teased (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6166749.html) as a multiplatform venture between Aki and 10tacle, the cartoon-styled boxing game is now a Wii exclusive and is expected to arrive in March 2009.
Next, Atari announced a partnership with famed rhythm-game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Q! Entertainment on a new music-based game for the Wii. Details on the game are slim, and it's operating under the working title "QJ." Atari will also be packaging three of Q's previous Xbox Live hits--RezHD, Lumines Live, and Every Extend Extra Extreme--into one package, titled Q3 (pronounced "cubed"). In addition to the three games, Q3 will include some extra content and has been priced at €30 in Europe.
Atari also outlined its partnership with Namco Bandai, whose games it distributes in Europe. The Japanese publisher used the occasion to reveal a new trailer for Tekken 6, saying the game will hit the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in fall 2009. Namco Bandai also has three other games lined up for spring 2009: Family Ski on the Wii, Afro Samurai on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and Eternal Sonata on the PS3, which includes new music, quests, and playable characters (http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/eternalsonata/review.html).
Atari then moved on to its own internal brands, such as the Dungeons & Dragons franchise Neverwinter Nights and the long-dormant Baldur's Gate. Developed by BioWare and published by then-D&D rights holder Interplay, the 1998 original Baldur's Gate is considered one of the best role-playing games of all time. Former Interplay staffers at Obsidian Entertainment developed Neverwinter Nights 2 using technology created by BioWare, which made the original Neverwinter Nights. It is unclear who might develop the new Baldur's Gate; reps for Obsidian, which just released the latest NWN2 expansion (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/neverwinternights2stormofzehir/review.html), declined to comment.
The game maker acknowledged that developments were under way for new entries in some of these franchises and hinted at new installments in the Test Drive Unlimited, Backyard Sports, and V-Rally series.
Atari also officially confirmed (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6201774.html) the console adaptation of CD Projekt Red's fantasy PC role-playing game, The Witcher. Subtitled Rise of the White Wolf, the game will use the original's story and is set to ship for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in fall 2009. Another PC game, the racing sim RACE Pro, will arrive on the Xbox 360 in January, with 12-player Xbox Live support and the complete FIA license.
Atari was bullish about its movie-studio support, talking up deals in place with Universal and Columbia for The Chronicles of Riddick and Ghostbusters, respectively. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena will hit the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC next year and will combine a new story and multiplayer mode with an HD remake of the 2004/2005 Xbox/360 hit Escape From Butcher Bay. Ghostbusters, meanwhile, will arrive in June 2009 to coincide with the first movie's 25th anniversary. It will hit six platforms: the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, DS, and PC.
Paulina Bozek, who joined Atari in September (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6197373.html) after heading up the SingStar brand at Sony Computer Entertainment, appeared at the event but didn't reveal anything she was working on. However, she did note in an open Q&A session that her upcoming game would be "social [and] multiplatform."
GameSpot will be holding interviews with Atari executives and game developers over the coming days, so stay tuned for more news and previews.

Atari may have wanted to hold off on this a little bit longer, but it looks like Sony Pictures Home Entertainment got there first. Ghostbusters (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3168503) finally has a date. Buried in the slew of press releases that went out with CES 2009, Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/sony-pictures-dates-ghostbusters-game-for-jun-16/) noticed that a press release giving a June 19 release date Ghostbusters for Blu-Ray also mentioned a date for the game. Atari has now confirmed that Sony Pictures spilled the beans early, saying that the game will indeed be coming day and date with the Blu-ray release.
So if you're a Ghostbusters fan, now you have two things to cheer -- the Blu-ray, and the impending release of a game that had fallen between the cracks during the last year's Activision-Vivendi merger. After all that, it'll feel twice as good to don the proton pack come summertime.

Re: the Ghostbusters game, Sigourney Weaver is on record as saying (http://kotaku.com/5102759/signourney-weaver-declined-aliens-game-not-offered-ghostbusters) she was never contacted about a Ghostbusters game. The game's developers, however, tell a different story.
Speaking at a press event in Stockholm, Sweden yesterday, Brendan Goss - from developers Terminal Reality - revealed that the Aliens star was indeed offered a part.
Which she promptly turned down. But only temporarily!
See, once Weaver found out the game was the real deal, and that even Bill Murray was involved, Weaver wanted back in. By then, though, the game's production had moved on, another "leading lady" was put in the game and Weaver was left out in the cold.
You snooze, lady, you lose.

I just found out through my sources that the Ghost Hunters tandem of Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will be included in the multiplayer aspect of the game.
The art director's response:
"Currently, you can play as them in the multi-player part of the game. They are not in the storyline of the single-player game, which sucks. But it is kinda funny. If you play multi-player, you are still wearing the Ghostbusters uniform, but you have the option of using either Jason or Grant’s head. "

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is the closest thing to a third movie that series fans are likely to see for at least a few years. For anyone not familiar with the progress of games as a storytelling medium, that's an awfully sobering thought. But it's not until you sit down with the game, hear the core cast members like Bill Murray reprising their roles, and chuckle at the script penned by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd that you realize any gap between a third film and this game isn't actually that wide.
That's what we found out with our latest, most extensive hands-on time with Ghostbusters to date. With the game due out for release next month, we've been given the opportunity to play from the very beginning of the game on through the third major mission. The story takes place two years after the second film. Manhattan has developed another case of the haunting undead, and you'll be fighting them as the newest member of the Ghostbusters crew. Your character is an unnamed, voiceless fellow who serves more as a vessel for you to engage in the action rather than the story. Your lack of any real identity is explained in a pretty clever way when Venkman refuses to bother learning your name after "what happened to the last guy."
You're given a crash course in ghostbusting when Slimer makes a sudden escape from the team's firehouse headquarters. Chasing him down, you're introduced to the basic three-step process of catching ghosts: Zap 'em, cap 'em, and trap 'em. You wear them down with your blast stream by holding the right trigger, and then once their energy level drops enough, the proton pack will automatically switch over to a capture stream, which holds them in place rather than weakening them. From there, you can have fun and slam them all around as though you had them lassoed. But in order to finish the job, you have to throw out a ghost trap and lure them over it with the capture beam to safely seal them away.
Adding a little challenge is the fact that firing a stream for too long will overheat your pack and cause it to short-circuit, which you obviously want to avoid. To do that, you need to hit a button to vent your pack before the little red gauge on your pack gets maxed out (typical heads-up-display elements such as this one are shown on your pack, a la Dead Space). You're given more options for dropping the hammer on ghosts as you unlock new abilities down the road. Some of the ones we achieved in the first three missions were the boson dart, which fires supercharged bursts of energy like a rifle; the shock blast, which sprays a number of dark-matter particles like a shotgun; and the stasis stream, which temporarily freezes ghosts in place.
After that brief intro at the firehouse, the team is whisked off to take care of ghosts at Hotel Sedgewick, a five-star accommodation for the city's upper crust, which was shown early in the first film. The mission starts off at a fairly slow pace as you and Venkman (voiced by Bill Murray) walk through the building's ornate hallways looking for spirits, but things quickly grow out of control when the ghosts show themselves and lead you on a cat and mouse chase through the kitchen and ballrooms. We particularly enjoyed this sequence for the opportunity to hear Murray's witty dialogue at extended length, which blended well with the action as he sarcastically quipped his way through situations most would consider terrifying.
Later in the level, things take a slight twist toward BioShock territory when a fisherman ghost turns an entire floor into a flooded, undersea wasteland. The water effects here were pretty neat, but it also made the area somewhat difficult to explore. With no map or radar, getting lost was a somewhat frequent occurrence in most of the Hotel level, but it was much less of an issue in the next level: Times Square. Here, wide-open space was the order of the day as we chased after the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. It began on the streets of a Times Square littered with destroyed taxis, moved into an office building, and then turned into a rooftop battle. The objective was to keep the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from crawling up the side of the building while we dangled off the side.
After this, it was back to the firehouse for a little plot exposition about the Ghostbusters' troublesome relationship with the local government. The voice acting during these long sequences is particularly well done, and each character bears a solid resemblance to his circa-1980s self. Following that, it was off to the library--a level that the team visited at the beginning of the first film and one that we've previously covered in fair detail.

Cool gameplay video:
http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/ghostbusters08/video/6210009?hd=1
Oh and there arent any levels from the first two films although they are based on them. Slimer breaks free and returns to the hotel you caught him at so you have to go get him, and you get to take on the librarian ghost from the first film. The fight with the marshmallow man looks pretty awesome too.
It's a shame in one way, I was hoping they would make a few levels from the last two films training levels so that when we get to the main story the gameplay could really open up. Having the first few levels like this would have been my wet dream:
1: Capture Slimer
2: Stop Gozer
3: Capture the Scoleri Brothers
4: Stop Vigo
Maybe if this game is a hit we'll get a sequel based on the Classic Ghostbuster movies.

not sure if the euroheads know it but the us version of the game on the 360 is region free.
There are reports that the North American edition of the Ghostbusters video game for the Xbox 360 will be region free.
The game, which goes on sale on 19 June, will be available in Europe only on PlayStation. But it is thought gamers could get round this exclusivity by buying the US 360 versions online, through so-called "grey imports".
The Xbox 360 European release is scheduled "later in the year".
Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox 360 have been battling for a larger stake in the console market.

OH god yes.
I haven't even beat the game yet. Actually quite a good chunk of single player action. Plus the story is fantastic. The way they combine shit from 1 and 2 in this is really good.
And I just started playing multiplayer yesterday. Also very good. It's like if Call of Duty was played against ghosts. You have "Campaigns" and you are working as a team to take down as many ghosts as possible, but also trying to take as many down as you personally can so you can rake in more money than your teammates.
