First off I will admit to being a casual follower of baseball. And secondly, I will admit that I don't give a flying shit about steroids. And it really pisses me off when another big name is leaked to the media, becuz I know it will dominate sports talk radio and the mainstream sports media. I don't want to hear about this crap. i want to hear about how fucking awesome my Lakers are doing.

Anyway, on to my question...for all of you die hard baseball fans, is this steroid thing a major issue for you? For you casual fans, do you care? Do you think that the general population really cares about this? My personal opinion is that the sports media has too much time to fill since they went to the 24 hour news cycle...

It is a bit important, but the Media themselves are the ones that make it important. If they would just let ALL of the fucking names out, we could have gotten past this a lot sooner.

But just as soon as some talk about it dies down, they throw a Clemens or A-Rod out there to re-spark it.

Yes, somewhat. It matters to me, as a stat-freak, more in that it impacts how this period will be viewed. Forever now you'll be forced when making all-time great teams/rotations/etc to say things like "Bonds in left, unless you care about steroids", "Clemens in the starting 5, except for roids, and now maybe the same for ARod. I also do buy into the "Think of the children" argument, as the idea of the game becoming something where you are forced to take dangerous drugs simply to compete is rather distasteful.

I still want a little more info before I wholly buy into the ARod story, but yes the roids thing bothers me (my only issue with the reporting on it is my issue with any 24 hour news/sports network, they have an hour of programming that they repeat ad infinitum).
