The fact that we're even having a season 8 reeks of total butchery. Smallville should have ended this year, if not last. To compound the matter, the series show runners, Miles and Gough, left the show. Not good times.

Pretty much this season is not looking too good. I think only Clark and Chloe remain from the beginning of the series.

They are going to need to put Lois in a lot of Bikinis and Tight Leather this season. Hell even Kara is gone. Sure her acting sucked but she looked good in the Bikini episode.

Season Eight begins a few weeks after the Fortress' icy collapse, as a LuthorCorp (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/LuthorCorp) Arctic excavation team investigates Lex's whereabouts. Members of the Justice League (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Justice_League) reunite in the search for Clark, who has been rendered powerless by the fall of the Fortress. As the season unfolds, Clark's new position at the Daily Planet will mean working across the desk from Lois. The two will be forced to team up to cover Metropolis' most pressing goings on. Sometimes it's Lois herself who becomes Clark's biggest obstacle, especially when he's on a deadline. But with Clark and Lois thrust into such close proximity, sparks are bound to fly, and feelings will start to surface that come as a surprise to both of them. At the same time, Clark begins to discover the balancing act he must perform as he explores his dual identities as both reporter and superhero.
Even with Lex gone, the Luthor mansion (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Luthor_Mansion) isn't vacant for long. Its newest resident is the beguiling Tess Mercer (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Tess_Mercer), who, according to Lex's written instructions, has been placed in charge of LuthorCorp and all of its projects, including oversight of the Daily Planet (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Daily_Planet). Tess proves to be as inscrutable as she is cunning, and is an enigmatic new presence in everyone's lives. It won't be long before Tess' attention turns to Clark. But Clark is wary of her intentions, and as the layers of her past are peeled away, new mysteries surface. Through it all, Tess' resolve remains unshakable – to find Lex Luthor, as she is convinced he is still alive.
Clark isn't the only one who will face formidable challenges. Oliver Queen (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Oliver_Queen) returns to make Metropolis his home. He finds himself at a crossroads, forced to travel through some dark terrain – especially when demons from his past are reawakened. Oliver ultimately begins to question his role as a superhero, just as Clark is embracing his own.
With a new fiancé and puzzling new abilities that intrigue her as much as they frighten her, Chloe decides to turn her attention toward helping others. She takes over where Lana left off and reopens the Isis Foundation (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Isis_Foundation) to provide counseling for those with meteor-powered (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Meteor_infection) abilities. She soon finds just how tricky the meteor-powered can be. Chloe's life is further complicated when she meets Metropolis paramedic Davis Bloome (http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Davis_Bloome). A tireless public servant, Bloome strikes up a fast friendship with Chloe. Soulful and mysterious, Bloome has demons of his own. He is troubled by large gaps of time that he can't remember, and as he comes closer to the answers, he must confront his own worst fear – that at his core he is pure evil.

I think they have overused the 'lost your powers' thing. It seems to happen once a season now. They did it twice tonight. Clark then Martian Manhunter.

And now that Clark is working at the Planet I guess they are no longer in Smallville.

This weeks episode was pretty meh. I knew who the bad guy was before the 1st commerical break. Also Jackie Chiles seems less interesting when he is a powerless superhero playing cop.

Poor good lookin' Tom Welling — he's never going to get to leave Smallville. They must have something really good on him, since rumor has it, he's about to re-up. According to EW, Welling is just about to close the deal on being the big shining star for Smallville's ninth season. I don't know what I'm more surprised about: that Tom Welling hasn't started looking for seedy roles to dirty up his persona, like Jessica Biel (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/7th-heaven/what-are-they-up-to-7th-heaven-7147.aspx) posing topless while still starring in Seventh Heaven, or that there's more material for Smallville's writers to dream up.

So how long until we get the Legion of Doom?
