1. I am the appointed administrator for this section of the forum; as such, I am the only user allowed to post gaming contests.
I will handle any and all judgment calls that develop accordingly. I may ask for your opinions in reasoning a given situation, but this is not a democracy - what I say goes, whether you like it or not. That's not to say that I plan on being an asshole about this. Fair is fair, and a spade is a spade, so I plan on dealing with you all as logically as possible.
Pharon has been assigned the task of moderator herein. His role is that of a general caretaker for posting scoring updates during times when I'm unavailable. He will from time to time post gaming contests, he will be involved in any and all claims of cheating by way of altering an image, and his judgment should be respected at all times as being second only to my own.

2. Gaming contests will be posted once a week and they will run from Monday to Monday for a total of seven days of competition per contest. However, there will be a few exceptions to this, as I will occasionally be away on business or vacation and during these moments I will extend the contests accordingly, making note of the extension in the description of the gaming contest.
It may also occur that a contest needs to be ended suddenly due to unforseen issues with the game, such as glitches, bugs, etc. The determination to end a game will be made only when it is clear that the entire contest is invalid, and if/when the decision is made to end a game no rewards will be handed out for that contest - rather, a new contest will be posted immediately. If you believe that a game I post for a contest has a glitch, contact me via PM (LINK (http://forum.gorillamask.net/private.php?do=newpm&u=26)) with a detailed explanation of the issue and I'll look into it as soon as possible.
I enjoy playing games as I work in an environment where I have a good bit of down time in between assignments. My personal hope for this section is to have as much participation as possible. By upping the rep rewards for winning and by promoting this section in other divisions of GMF, I hope to get this section the attention it deserves.
I STRONGLY encourage participation and competition. Participants and others are encouraged to make posts discussing the games and winning strategies, or just carrying on with your fellow GMF'ers. Trash talking, verbal jousting, laying the smack down - whatever you want to call it, it has a place here. Just remember to take whatever is said here with a grain of salt; set your sarcasm detector to high and keep your sense of humor active at all times. And if you can't take it, you probably are in the wrong place anyway because no one with a "thin skin" lasts long in GMF.

3. The task of picking a new game each week will fall to myself and Pharon by way of our personal judgment, but we will on random occasion have a poll in this section whereby GMF as a whole will pick the next game to be played from a selection of 5 games. These polls will run from Wednesday of the current game until the day a new game is scheduled to be posted. Only subscribed members of GMF are allowed to participate in polls; meaning that you will have to be either a paying member here or that you have earned your subscription via reputation points. I will, nevertheless, accept votes from non-subscribed members in the form of private messages sent to me (with the title of the game you would like to vote for made clear) while the poll is still open.
THE ONLY VERSION OF THE GAME YOU SHOULD USE FOR GMF GAMING CONTESTS ARE THE ONES LINKED IN THE INITIAL POST OF EACH CONTEST! If you for some reason cannot access the link that I post (i.e., you're behind a firewall that restricts access to certain sites), let me know via PM (LINK (http://forum.gorillamask.net/private.php?do=newpm&u=26)) and I will search for different locations from which the same version of the game can be found.

4. I'd like to think of this section as a team effort - even though I'm the one in charge, I'm very open to ideas you all may have. And in that same line of thought, it's important to the continued success of this section that you all suggest games in the "Suggest a Game" thread: LINK (http://forum.gorillamask.net/showthread.php?t=162).
When suggesting a game, please provide the URL of where the game can be found as well as a brief description of it. If at all possible, make sure the game link you post corresponds to the original developer of the title. There are sites (like eBaum's World) that take credit for games even though they don't have a right to do so, and we want to make sure that the parties responsible for each title get the credit they deserve.
In an effort to keep the "Suggest a Game" thread more organized, if your game suggestion is used please go back and edit the post that contained your suggestion so that it reads something along the lines of: EDIT - This game has been used! (Leave your URL link and description there, though, as it is important you not delete that information.)
Also, please refer to the "Played Games Index" when making a game suggestion: LINK (http://forum.gorillamask.net/showpost.php?p=731&postcount=14). The index is a running list of games which have already been used in previous contests, meaning they won't be used again, and also features a list of games known to have issues/glitches/bugs making the games unfit for our purposes. Checking here first may save you some time and effort, and might keep you from getting flamed as well.

5. The objectives here are simple - play the game, earn a high score, post a screen grab of your score, and whoever achieves the top five highest point totals will earn themselves prizes in the form of reputation points and GMF$ which will be distributed after a contest has closed.
ONLY A PLAYERS HIGHEST SCORE WILL BE COUNTED! In other words, one player cannot hold multiple positions within the scoreboard.
In the event of a tie, whoever posted their score first will be awarded the higher position in handing out the final awards. A running list of high scores will be kept in the initial post of each gaming contest thread, and it will be updated regularly as new scores are submitted. The scale for prizes on all games will be as follows.
1st: 8,000 rep, GMF$500,000
2nd: 4,000 rep, GMF$300,000
3rd: 2,000 rep, GMF$200,000
4th: 1,000 rep, GMF$100,000
5th: 500 rep, GMF$50,000

6. GMF Gaming Contest Seasons consist of 4 month periods of gaming wherein participants are competing for season points (in addition to the normal rewards for each GMF Gaming Contest) as well as an actual prize. All rules/regulations as stated in the "Points of Emphasis" thread transfer to season competition, with the lone exceptions being as follows:
If you are discovered to have cheated in this competition you will be banned from GMF - not just the gaming forum, but GMF as a whole. Myself, Pharon, Syndicate, Zaphrodesiac, and Titus_Pullo will serve as judges if/when an issue involving a suspected cheater arises, and if we determine by a majority vote that an entry has been altered you will be dealt with accordingly.
In order to qualify for season participation, a GMF'er must be eligible for GMF Gaming Contests (as is spelled out in point #8 (http://forum.gorillamask.net/showpost.php?p=706&postcount=9)) and also must sign up during an open registration period in the corresponding thread. Once sign up has concluded, NO ONE will be allowed to enter the season. GMF'ers not wishing to participate in the season may still play individual contests as the season competitions will be held simultaneously with normal play.
Season points will be awarded similarly to how reputation rewards are handled. The top ten season participants for each contest will be rewarded as follows:
1st - 100 points
2nd - 90 points
3rd - 80 points
4th - 70 points
5th - 60 points
6th - 50 points
7th - 40 points
8th - 30 points
9th - 20 points
10th - 10 points
Any season participant finishing a given gaming contest outside the top ten will receive 1 point. IT IS REQUIRED THAT ALL SEASON PARTICIPANTS TAKE PART IN EVERY GAMING CONTEST DURING THE SEASON! Failure to participate in a given contest will result in that gamer receiving 0 points for that week. The scores of season participants for each gaming contest will exist separately from gamers not involved in season play. For example, assume these are scores from an upcoming contest:
1. Gamer #1
2. Season Gamer #1
3. Season Gamer #2
4. Gamer #2
5. Season Gamer #3
--------------------
6. Season Gamer #4
7. Gamer #3
8. Gamer #4
9. Gamer #5
10. Season Gamer #5
Season gamers 1 - 5 finished 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 10th respectively for that gaming contest, meaning that season gamers 1, 2, and 3 would receive reputation rewards AND their season points, while season gamers 4 and 5 would only receive season points. After that gaming contest, the season points would appear:
Season Gamer #1 - 100 pts.
Season Gamer #2 - 90 pts.
Season Gamer #3 - 80 pts.
Season Gamer #4 - 70 pts.
Season Gamer #5 - 60 pts.
The winner of each season will be the gamer with the most season points at the end of the term. In the event of a tie, there will be an immediate playoff to determine the winner which will be a separate gaming contest. Whichever season participants are involved in the tiebreaker will have 24 hours to post their high score, and whoever is the highest scorer from this playoff round will be the overall winner and season champion.
The prize of each season will be an actual tangible prize. Prizes will be announced at the beginning of each season and they will be sent to the winner in prompt fashion once the season has ended. Prizes are not transferable, returnable, or able to be exchanged for their cash value. It is not the responsibility of anyone associated with GorillaMask.net, GMF, or any affiliates thereof to insure that the prize is received by the winner; it is the soul responsibility of the season champion to provide accurate shipping information to contest officials and to also be able to receive such a shipment.

7. Challenge competitions are gaming contests where two GMF'ers are pitted against one another in an arranged setting with rewards for the winner and consequences for the loser. Outside of the exceptions made in this post, all normal rules for gaming contests also apply to challenge matches.
A formal challenge may be issued at any time by one GMF'er to another in the . (The only GMF'ers who are ineligible for challenge matches are myself and Pharon; other GMF mods and admins may compete at their leisure but are not required to compete as doing so may interrupt their duties with the forum.) The challenge thread is to be used ONLY for issuing challenges and any discussion of scheduling! (Infractions for forum format violations WILL be issued to anyone breaking this rule.) A separate thread will be created for each individual challenge match - keep all trash talk, cheering, general bullshit to those threads.
Either myself or Pharon will contact the GMF'er being challenged to secure their knowledge of the challenge having been issued. Once the challenge has been issued and accepted, we will then schedule the contest to take place during a mutually agreeable timeframe. However, if there has been no sign of acknowledgment after TWO attempts at contacting the player being challenged, the player being challenged will be subject to a 1 week ban and must wear an avatar of shame for one week upon their return to GMF. One challenge match will be allowed per week, and they will run simultaneously with our normal weekly gaming contests. Once a challenge has been issued it cannot be refused. Only extreme extenuating circumstances - such as debilitating illness or injury, familial death, etc. - will be accepted as justifiable excuses for not participating in a challenge. Failure to compete in a scheduled challenge will result in automatic forfeiture and the gamer in question will be subject to the consequences of a challenge loss.
So as to lessen the potential for one gamer to gain an immediate advantage over whoever they have challenged, I will personally select the game to be played during each challenge. The games may have been used during previous weekly gaming contests, however no previous scores will be accepted. To insure that no old scores are submitted, I will supply a unique phrase which must be entered in the "submit high score" field.
The loser of a challenge match will not be immediately challenged again; one challenge must pass before a loser from a previous challenge can be involved in another match. However, a winner from one challenge may then immediately issue another challenge if they so choose.
The rewards/consequences of a challenge match are as follows:
WINNERS:
- 20,000 rep points
- $5,000,000 GMF cash
LOSERS:
- One week ban from GMF
- Wear an avatar of the winner's choosing upon returning to GMF for one week
Challenge matches will be held to the same standard as season competitions in that if you are discovered to be cheating you will be banned permanently from GMF.
CHALLENGE MATCH HISTORY:
- Limpnoodle vs. Pharon ([URL="http://forum.gorillamask.net/showthread.php?t=51732"]Dolphin Olympics (]GMF Gaming Contests Challenge Thread[/url))

8. Anyone who has a post count less than 50 and has not posted an introduction thread in the Introduce Yourself (http://forum.gorillamask.net/forumdisplay.php?f=10) forum is NOT allowed to participate in the gaming forum contests. In other words, you are eligible for competition herein if:
- you have written an intro thread
- you have a post count of 50+ and have not written an intro thread
- you have written an intro thread and have a post count of 50+
Conversely, you are not eligible for competition herein if:
- you have not written an intro thread
- you have a post count of less than 50
- you have not written an intro thread and have a post count less than 50
Entries made by individuals not meeting this requirement will be deleted without question - continuing to post entries without meeting this requirement will result in severe penalties.
And yes, GMF administrators, moderators, and vBookies are allowed to play these games.

9. All entries to each contest must be accompanied by a screen grab of your score as proof of your achievement. Any entry which does not contain a screen grab of the score will be disqualified from the running. Should you require assistance with taking screen grabs or don't know how to take one, please refer to this handy FAQ:
Ok, there is always some noob who doesn't know how to post their score, so here is a run down of how to post your score. Now you can stop asking how to do it every contest...
Play the game.
Get a commendable score.
Press the print screen button on your keyboard (third button from the right on most standard keyboards, with the label "Prt Scr").
Open your favourite graphic editor, paste it and save it.
MICROSOFT PAINT:
Open Paint ("Start" -> "All Programs" or "Program Files" -> "Accessories" -> "Paint").
Paste the image ("Edit" -> "Paste") [shortcut: ctrl + v].
Save the image locally ("File" -> "Save") [shortcut: ctrl + s]. Change "Save as type:" to "JPEG"!
Close Paint.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP:
Open Photoshop (you shouldn't have photoshop if you can't open it yourself).
Create a new image ("File" -> "New...") [shortcut: ctrl + n]. Click "OK" when you are prompted to enter the details of the new image.
Paste the image ("Edit" -> "Paste") [shortcut: ctrl + v].
Save the image locally ("File" -> "Save") [shortcut: ctrl + s]. Change "Format:" to "JPEG"!
Close Photoshop.
Goto a free image host, such as imagevenue (http://imagevenue.com/), and upload your screenshot.
IMAGEVENUE:
Open http://imagevenue.com (http://imagevenue.com/).
Click the first "Browse..." button.
Navigate to where you saved your local copy of the screenshot.
Click on the local copy and click "Open".
Repeat steps 2 - 4 (using the next "Browse..." button) to upload more images.
Click "Send file(s)".
Wait for it to upload your image.....................
Click the second from the top "Copy URL" hyperlink (or highlight and copy the text in the second from the top text field).
In the correct thread for the game you are playing, post a new reply and paste the text that you copied out of the imagevenue text area into your reply. You may also post a text representation of your score, so it can be seen without having to open up the screenshot thumbnail.
Participants in each game are required to make a new post with a new screen grab each time they achieve a score higher than a previous score. This way, it will be easier to maintain an accurate scoreboard as new high scores are achieved. Do not post a new score unless it is higher than your previous posted score in the thread. We will call this the 'hatepoppy rule', since he is the first and only person who's ever done this.
NOTICE: It's come to my attention that some gamers are concerned about programs/web browser tabs/IM windows and other utilities being openly visible in their screen grabs.
The general rule of thumb has always been that when capturing your screen grab, you should not edit the image in any way (THIS MEANS NO CROPPING OF THE IMAGE!). Nevertheless, if you're like a lot of our regular weekday warriors around GMF who work for a living (meaning you might have potentially sensitive materials visible on your desktop or something that could in some way compromise your identity), the lone exception to this rule will be for you to use MSPaint, Photoshop, or the image editor of your choice to scratch out any incriminating information from view.
An example of acceptable image editing: GOOD
http://img15.imagevenue.com/loc954/th_36312_acceptable_edits_122_954lo.JPG (http://img15.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=36312_acceptable_edits_122_954lo.JPG )
An example of unacceptable image editing: BAD
http://img143.imagevenue.com/loc810/th_36637_unacceptable_edit_122_810lo.JPG (http://img143.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=36637_unacceptable_edit_122_810lo.JP G)
However, use common sense and RESTRAINT! An open spreadsheet or Word document with confidential, proprietary information specific to your company or business is obviously something that no one here has right to view and something that is okay to scratch through. The same goes for IM windows; if you're chatting with your girlfriend and her AIM ID is visible in your screen grab, by all means feel free to scratch it out (unless you want the entirity of the Interweb sending her requests for boobie pics, in which case you can leave it well enough alone).
However, if you don't want us to see your WinAmp player open with a beastiality clip or you're ashamed of the fact that a visible Firefox window places you at neo-Nazi man-love website, then by all means close them before you take your screen grab. Likewise, open web browser tabs for CNN, GMF, the game page, and some other random website do not a security breach create. Egregiously taking advantage of this allowance will result in your entry being disqualified because, as has been stated, such actions will create suspicion and suspicion here is a very bad thing.

10. If you post a screen grab of your score that looks in any way suspicious - as in it has been altered to reflect a score which you did not earn but rather "created" with something like Photoshop - I will delete your entry to the contest and you will be banned from competing here in the future, PERMANENTLY. I'm on these forums a good bit, however I am not a constant fixture here. As such, should one of you suspect that an entry has been altered, please contact me via private message (LINK (http://forum.gorillamask.net/private.php?do=newpm&u=26)) and I will look into it as soon as possible.
On that note, unless you have irrefutable proof (as in it's so mind-numbingly obvious that a retard could pick up on it) that a participant in a given gaming contest has cheated, DO NOT come in here and publicly make some kind of bold accusation towards someone or their entry. Trust me when I say that you aren't going to get away with crucifying someone when they may or may not be guilty of anything. What's more, this isn't trial by jury - as has been stated I am the recognized authority here, and I will make the final decision on what is and is not allowable based on the evidence at hand.
If someone is found to be cheating, their crimes will be chronicled in the "POST OF SHAME (http://forum.gorillamask.net/showpost.php?p=728&postcount=13)".
Also, aside from cheating and ridiculous accusations, the only sort of posts in this forum which I will not tolerate are whining/complaining posts pertaining to the games and/or contests. This is supposed to be a fun section for competition between GMF'ers, not the area to bitch and moan. If you don't like the game I choose for a given week, too bad - just grin and bear it because next week there will be another game to play. I won't ban you for making posts along those lines, but I will definitely make it known to you that you've gotten on my shit list.
Don't believe me? Ask GMF'er S the D about this thread: LINK (http://forum.gorillamask.net/showthread.php?t=26998)

12. This post is dedicated to the individuals who have defied the rules of this forum by cheating in some manner. It should serve as an example to anyone who thinks they can get away with such stupidity that your efforts will not be tolerated here, and as is stated in the "Points of Emphasis" thread, anyone found guilty of cheating will be permanently banned from future competition in GMF Gaming Contests.
Details involved will include the username of the individual found guilty of cheating as well as the evidence used to make the determination. This evidence will have been examined by several veteran, knowledgeable GMF administrators/moderators so as to obtain multiple opinions on the matter.

The purpose of this post is to serve as a running list of games that have been played in past GMF Gaming Contests so that they will not be re-used in the future and of games that have been found to be unusable for whatever reason (glitches, cheats, etc.). Please refer to this master when making suggestions for potential contests as doing so may save you some time and effort!
NOTE: Many of these links correspond to threads that were active on the old GMF site. Because of the migration of servers and domains, quite a few of these links will not load the correct page or any page at all other than a vBulletin error message.
