bullshit, if it were just for kids, it wouldn't be called fucking Dragonball, they made this movie they way they did because it has a built in fanbase. Even though the fans may hate it, many of them will still go see it, even if they'd have stayed away if it had no connection to anything
ergo, by basing this movie on an existing property, they increased the market for their film and will therefore make more money off it

I truly hate to agree with a fucking FACE, but I agree. The DBZ fanbase is far into adulthood. Even those teens who would have started watching with the shitty americanized dubbed version of the show in the mid 90s would already be well into their 20s by now.
