Radiohead: Miley Cyrus & Kanye West on Humility

03/13/2009 12:45 PM, E! Online

When Radiohead refused to meet Miley Cyrus and Kanye West at the Grammy Awards last month, the starlet threatened to "ruin" them and the rapper refused to stand for their performance. Now the In Rainbows band is fighting back.

Cyrus kicked off the feudin' during an appearance on the Johnjay and Rich radio show and rambled on for more than six minutes about how the band dissed her after she begged her manager to set up an introduction.

"I'm like, these are the people I really want to meet," she said. "I'd freak out. They're my rock gods. These are the only people that I would cry over…My manager asked and said, 'Miley's really obsessed. And they were like, 'We don't really do that.' "

She continued on in disbelief about the Thom Yorke band's lack of interest in meeting the Hannah Montana, admitting she was so disappointed about the diss, she left the show early.

"I left 'cause I was so upset," she said. "I wasn't going to watch. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone."

The three-time Grammy winners responded by putting the teen in her place…

"When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement," the quintet said in a statement.

But the Radiohead beef buck doesn't stop there.

During the taping for his episode of VH1's Storytellers, West complained that Yorke snubbed him as well.

"When he performed at the Grammys, I sat the f--k down," the rapper said.

The British "Creep" singer, already in full retaliation mode, concluded a blog post on the band's website with a wink and a nudge to both stars. "Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people I have managed to offend by doing nothing," Yorke writes.

Bring on the next round in these wars of words ('cause you know they're coming)!

War of words? A bitchy teenager and a ****** vs. Radiohead, yeah, that sounds about right.

I think I would probably snub Miley Cyrus and Kanye, too.

I'm a big radiohead fan but dont they meet their fans all the time? It seems to me that they are penalizing these two for being famous.

Seems more like they penalized them for being shitty excuses for artists.

Both have a ridiculous sense of entitlement. Kanye thinks he's Jesus and Miley is well.... yeah.

I think the reactions basically justify the snubs.

I thought it was a well known fact that they keep to themselves and rarely make appearances other than touring. I just saw this as two other famous people assuming that radiohead was gonna welcome them with open arms to a conversation or something of that sort and instead got reality slamming them in the face.

Ed O'Brien: Jeez, what a li'l crybaby!
Colin Greenwood: Are you gonna cry all day, crybaby?
Thom Yorke: You know, everyone has problems; it doesn't mean you have to be a little crybaby about it.
Ed O'Brien: Come on, guys, let's go. This kid is totally not cool.
Thom Yorke: Yeah, that's the most uncool kid I've ever met.
Phil Selway: Little crybaby!

That makes me love Radiohead even more. All though, If I were them I'd meet her, say hi and ask who she was. Then when she said "I'm Miley Cyrus" I'd laugh and punch her in the boob. But that's just me. It's kind of a nice "fuck you" to people that think they're the cream of the musical crop.

For some reason I can't picture Miley Cyrus sitting around listening to Treefingers on her headphones.

I think they're just saying that they're not going to go out of their way to meet someone who thinks by using their contacts they get to meet them ahead of their non-famous fans. Get the fuck in line Cyrus like the rest of them... or something like that.

They are not huge fans of the fame game anyway, speaking to a friend of mine who's from Oxford (their home city) he said that if they were spotted they'd do all they could to get away - not through arrogance, just they didn't like the attention.

I dont understand how people can call them rock gods. Dont get me wrong they are an amazing band and I love every song ( except creep) that they have written but they are hardly Rock Gods, oh wait look who is calling them rock gods, she probably calls dad a rock god as well.

On a side note, I would like to thank every radio station in America for taking a great band and making it look like they only have 1 hit ( creep)

Personally I can only think of one decent radio head song, the rest is a lot like proto-emo pre-coldplay (white pop) shitz, but Kanye and Montana are full of themselves. But this quote is awesome

I think Miley Cyrus will end up killing herself before she's 21 once her fifteen minutes is up, probably be a overdose of either heroin or concentrate of Miley Cyrus ego juice, she'll jack up for the final time to the sound of the superb The Bends album which will be ironically beautiful.

Taters, my hand is hovering over the Neg button for that days work laddie! But alas I resist...For now.

I don't think you've listened to a lot of Radiohead. They have seven albums and I can't see a comparison to the pop sound of Coldplay being made past the first two.

But in response to the snub, Radiohead does whatever they want. Putting them in the vicinity with one such as Hannah Montana would likely result in an event horizon.
