Final Fantasy fans will have plenty to download on their Nintendo Wii (http://kotaku.com/tag/wii/) consoles this year, with two WiiWare titles and the appearance of the original games on the Virtual Console (http://kotaku.com/tag/virtual-console/).

Formally announced at Nintendo's keynote (http://kotaku.com/5183222/nintendos-satoru-iwata-gdc-keynote-liveblog-party) at the 2009 Game Developers Conference, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Dark Lord (http://kotaku.com/tag/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles%7c-my-life-as-a-dark-lord/) is the follow up to last year's My Life as a King, so one would reason it's the same thing, only different. It's joined on WiiWare by Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (http://kotaku.com/tag/final-fantasy-iv%7c-the-after-years/), a port of the official FFIV sequel released last year for Japanese cell phones.

This year also sees the original Nintendo and Super Nintendo Final Fantasy titles making an appearance on the Wii Virtual Console, beginning with the original and following the natural order of things after that.

With the original games already re-released umpteenth times and My Life as a King definitely not my cup of tea, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is really the only truly exciting news, and we sort of knew about that already (http://kotaku.com/5161587/the-esrb-rates-wii-final-fantasy-iv-sequel).

Dear Nintendo. Don't tease us with Square Enix news when this is all you have to show for it.

I actually look forward to some FF, FFII and FFIII on my Wii. Just makes me feel warm inside playing them on a nintendo system.

YOu beat me to it by 2 days.

I got a rock hard when I heard about and read that a sequel to my favorite FF was in the mix, IN THE OLD SPRITE STYLE. Now I have to go back and beat part 2 (Never beat the boss).

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, released in Japan as Final Fantasy IV the After: Tsuki no Kikan (ファイナルファンタジーIV ジ・アフター -月の帰還- Fainaru Fantajī Fō Ji Afutā -Tsuki no Kikan-?, lit. "Final Fantasy IV the After: Return of the Moon") is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Matrix Software and published by Square Enix, and is the sequel to Final Fantasy IV. The first two chapters of the game were released in Japan in February 2008 for NTT DoCoMo FOMA 903i series phones, with a release for au WIN BREW compatible phones in May 2008 and Yahoo! Keitai compatible phones in November 2008.[2] The mobile phone release was distributed in monthly installments, the first of which was free to download, while the following chapters available via subscription.[3] An English-language release was announced as a WiiWare title on March 25, 2009.[

They need to hurry up and release this. Its already sold 3 Million downloads in Japan.

Now if they would do the same with Chrono Trigger....

CT won't be done for awhile. They just released it on the DS. So it'll be about a year or so. Like they did with FFIII. DS first then VC.

I'm hoping to see some of the old PS FF games on the system.
