I'm not 100% sold but Jonez is a creative genius so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I will stab you in the heart with the ancient bone saber of Zumakalis if that is the case.

I hope its as close to spikes original vision as the first cut of the film that he had made.
you know, the one screener audiences thought was "too dark".

Karen O is doing the whole soundtrack. Thats a bit weird.

Wow... did not realize they were making a movie from the book. I will definitely have to go see it!

Might just be like Johnny Greenwood on the There will be Blood Soundtrack.

Thats about the most perfect music choice I've ever seen for a trailer.

A friend of mine was involved with this film in the prop department...it seems like an eternity since he worked on it.

I hope it doesn't suck.

I'm going to agree. I've obviously only seen a two minute trailer so I could be wayyy off, but it looks (and sounds) like an indie film. And while that might be a great way to appeal to the generation that the book was released for, keep in mind that it is supposed to be a children's book.

My biggest concern is that we're turning a book (which was ten sentences long) into a full-length feature film. There is literally more dialogue in the two minute trailer then the entire piece of literature.

The saber doesn't really have to be made of bone to kill him.

Looks like he doesn't like some strange man plowing his Mom. I don't recall that being in the book.

Yeah really just like anything sharp just laying around the house.

Usually previews will just take a song that fits the mood or the maker likes it. 2 recent examples are the trailer for Watchmen used a Smashing Pumpkins song from Batman and Robin and Observe And Report is using a song by wrestler John Cena. Neither songs are used in the actual films.

Perhaps the soundtrack isn't done. The movie doesn't drop for a while (October I think).

I saw the preview yesterday before Monsters Vs. Aliens in 3D and was like "oooooooooh". I had been wondering how they were going to make a full length movie out of a 48 page kids book that is mostly pictures.

I could see how it might be visually awesome... but there's almost no story to work off of. Has anyone read this stupid ass book lately? There's nothing there.

I have no idea how it will be turned into a compelling feature length film.

I heard it was first teased before the Jim Carrey Grinch movie.

Ya, with Bowie, I think.

Also, Dave Eggers wrote it, and he's fucking awesome.

I think it was one of the best trailers that I have ever seen for any film ever. I guess it looks like an indy film, because there is attention paid to the art direction? It's Spike Fucking Jonze.

Eh. I hated Being John Malkovich almost as much as I hated Adaptation. Not excited. Guillermo Del Toro should have done it.

What good English language film has Del Toro done?

You hated Charlie Kauffman movies, that doesn't mean you hate Spike Jonze.

I loved the Hellboy films. Not exactly as "high brow" as Spike Jonze, but I don't think Where The Wild Things Are requires a cerebral approach. It's a story about a child's imagination and personally I think someone like Guillermo Del Toro would better convey that. Pan's Labyrinth was almost the same story.

Why, did I not read the part of the story where there's a monster with eyes someplace weird?

(Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favorite films)

Do you know how challenging of a film this must've been to make? Shooting in sunset, with creature effects? It will be great. This is one of the most anticipated movies of my entire life.

I know that I am going to be in the complete minority of GMF for liking anything interesting or artistic, and not just Sci-Fi or Comic Book stuff.

I'm not denying for a second that it was a difficult film to make. And I like artistic films as well, but not in this case.

Where The Wild Things Are is literally ten sentences long... And its a children's book. We're not talking about The Catcher in the Rye here. In my opinion, this is the last piece of literature that needed an indie film treatment.

Is it getting the "Indie Film treatment?" Does it seem insincere and overly stylized.

From what I've heard from friends that might be stupid, and this can be completely wrong, but the movie is based on the story, but also the experience that the story drummed up in the life of Jonze.

From the trailer, I felt connected to the film immediately. When I watch "indie films," I usually feel sick to my stomach. Garden State and Juno are two of my least favorite movies.
