Yeah...especially in multiplayer mode. The maps on MW were awesome. Plus the guns kicked ass.
WaW was too clunky for me.
Then again, as I said before...I really sucked at both games. Although I was better at Warfare. my k/d ratio was up to like 0.95

No, I'm not sure. Everything I heard has been speculation. All I know is that Activision owns the Call of Duty franchise. Treyarch sucks and Infinityward is awesome. The fact there is no mention of Call of Duty in the trailer or site only lends merit to these accusations.

I like WaW. As an overall game, it's a great one. If it's compared to MW, however, a game that's different than it in many ways, it will never stack up. It's the same with MW2. It's always going to be compared to previously awesome COD games, instead of being reviewed as a game in and of itself. Even if its the greatest COD-type game of all time, it will only live up to expectations, which is its own failure.

Granted. But the reason that WaW is so unpopular, in my belief, is that it was touted as the next greatest thing ever.
One of the major critiques of it was that it was too similar to MW. So, how does MW2 succeed at being new and innovative, without being just a replica of MW, and is it fair to compare them in that way in the first place?

Infinityward is also really good at listening to the people. I'm sure it'll have more character and weapon customization.

People bitched after the first Modern Warfare was made, that it wasn't in keeping with COD2 and COD3. Now, all of a sudden, it's the standard barer for COD games.
How would WaW have been viewed, if not for MW in the first place? It would have been the new 'revolutionary' game.
People are only entertained for so long.
If MW doesn't entertain, revolutionize and keep 'true' to whatever the critics say it should at that time, it will be deemed a failure, and most gamers are too narrow-minded to disagree with the critics.
It's no longer CoD, it has risen above. As for WaW, it's right on par with a CoD game.

Seriously, I loved CoD4. I was one of the first lv 10 prestiges in the game. I have most of the golden guns and decent stats considering I refuse to play with guns anymore. Knife, stuns, claymore set behind people, whatever.
WaW made me go limp during the beta.

I can't put my finger on it, since I played both games a lot and liked both, I just liked WaW more.
I think it was less 'cheap,' in that there was much less opportunity to camp out and snipe people from half way across the board, with virtually any weapon. In WaW, unless you have a dedicated rifle, it's hard to shoot that far, whereas in MW, any submachine gun or machine gun can easily kill virtually any player on any board.
It takes the challenge out of the game, as the team that gets best positions first almost always wins. In WaW, it's constantly changing, much more fluid, which I think is more fun and realistic.
But that's just me.

Honestly, I think WaW isn't as popular because it's seen as another WW2 shooter. Also because it was made by Treyarch, who have a bad rep to start out with.
And you've gotta compare the games that way, how else could you? Even taking it on it's own merits will draw comparisons, if not only because it's being built on the same engine (I think).
What will differentiate this game from COD4 will be what they add. The feel will probably be exactly the same, probably some improvements and of course an entire new game of content, but I don't think it'll be the transition that Halo 1 to Halo 2 was. Going to be one to look out for though, no doubt about it.

I am really looking forward to this game... I don't see a ton I would really change in it though, lots of stuff I would fix. Killing people through walls cause you can see them would be one.
See if they change the air strike and helicopter as well. One thing that would be nice is if you can take your silencer with you. Sure you have to unlock it but you can take it off and put it on the weapon(kind of like in Vegas)
I have both games, MW and WaW. There are things I like about both, I like the revive feature when you equip last stand.

All I want to see in MW2 is more weapons. A lot more weapons in fact. There were only a few weapons people use in CoD4 online and it gets old. You could never run out of ammo if you used an M16 for instance.

I just paid 800 points for 3 maps on WaW. Although IMO the Knee Deep map is probably the best multi player map I have played.
Also the body damage would be a cool add on to MW2. Getting legs and shit blown off... I heard that they gun camo feature cut down on what they could do there.

From what I saw it looks like what I call a 'piggy back' mission. ala you're the gunner on a NPC controlled vehicle. If you look you're moving and seem to be 'zoomed in' on a target. Seems odd a driver could do both... I may be wrong.
I agree on the underwater shit. Also I REEEEEEEEEALLY hope they have some awesome hand to hand combat. I saw the flip, I hope it's a new melee animation.

Yeah but most people don't know how to camp properly. And to do so you actually have to move. I was playing WAW tonight on Roundhouse and this guy kept going to the same corner every time. He got me the first time but I just lobed a grenade over there and killed him every time I was in that area.
A silenced sniper rifle would be cool too. The M21...

The point is to not give anyone the means to camp. The people that camp now take the existing, semi-balanced weapons given to them to do so. A silenced Sniper would be nothing more than a camping tool itself.

Yeah that is what ruined Vegas for me. The spawning was always in the same spot and the spawn raping was brutal.
But a massive amount of guns and a decent amount of maps, 12 - 15 would be awesome.
If they use claymores in the game again once you place the claymore the red lines disappear.
I also heard that they were putting in a Shield. I am wondering if it is a riot shield of some sort.

Campers usually get way less kills as well cause you have to wait for people to show up and if they know the camping spots they usually just grenade that spot before hand. But those guns are in the game so people can use them for what they are meant to...
Personally I don't care. Camp... I'll get you, I can use my smoke to come to you.
I hope they add a hardcore free for all. Main reason I play WAW.

Camping makes the game fun though. For example, when you're assaulting, a 5 snipers doing thier thing means there are 5 less people to dick you around while you're clearing a building, or 5 less people moving about trying to flank you.
I hope they get rid of the intelligent spawn system or whatever the fuck they called it. Nothing was worse then automatically spawning in a flanking position and visa-versa.

Activision exploring an MMO-style service for Call of Duty
According to a "mysterious" survey making the rounds, Activision is considering creating an online service that would bring timed exclusive content, as well as premium extras, to the multiplayer side of the Call of Duty franchise.
The survey -- of which we can’t verify its validity, but certainly felt interesting enough to pass on -- specifically mentions that the supposed service would “enhance the multiplayer experience and provide exclusive access to a group of gameplay enhancements.” This includes early access to expansions and betas, and exclusive access to character skins, enhanced stat tracking, game modes and even “support for competitive play.”
The service may come with a monthly fee attached to it or may come bundled with a copy of Call of Duty for a flat rate. The monthly fee idea is especially interesting: in March, Activision’s Bobby Kotick hinted at the possibility of a Call of Duty MMO (http://www.destructoid.com/call-of-looty-activision-suggests-cod-mmo-73763.phtml).

Earlier rumours suggested that Call of Duty fans would have to cough up the cash for extra online services. Infinity Ward has slammed it saying multiplayer will always be free.
The recently discovered survey suggested that gamers would be required to subscribe for a service offering new features, modes and early access to Map Packs.
Thankfully there will be no such thing after Call of Duty developer infinity Ward posted a message on its forum denying it has anything to do with them.

While the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may not lend itself to the bundled controller business model, Activision and developer Infinity Ward are preparing the next best thing: an over-the-top limited-edition release. As revealed this week by an Infinity Ward YouTube video, Modern Warfare 2 will come in three different packages, the most extravagant of which--the Prestige Edition--will feature working night-vision goggles.
The video, hosted by Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, lays out the content of the regular Modern Warfare 2 release, the Hardened Edition, and the Prestige Edition. The Hardened Edition will come packed in a metallic case with an art book featuring concept sketches and other details from the game's development. It also includes a downloadable code for the original Call of Duty on PC, Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3. Though the Prestige Edition remains unpriced, Bowling's Twitter page (http://twitter.com/fourzerotwo) lists the Hardened Edition as selling for $80.
The Prestige Edition will come with the special Hardened edition of the game, the Modern Warfare 2-branded goggles, and a sculpted head to display the pack-in when not in use. North American retailers like GameStop, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Amazon.com are currently accepting preorders for the regular and Hardened editions of Modern Warfare 2 but have yet to list the Prestige Edition.

It's just good marketing. "Smart" Gamers knew what it was...but the casual gamer may have not known. Adding the Call of Duty name back to it will increase it's sales.
Then again, 90% of people who have/do play CoD: World at War call it CoD5...so people are just retarded anyways.

I've had some beef with the radar gun so far from these videos, because as far as I know, it doesn't exist, however that video of the gunship in multiplayer has completely restored all faith. My biggest wish from playing 1 was having that gunship online. I always play hardcore, its the best, the gunship is gonna create some serious havoc in hardcore mode.
Also, does anyone know what that missile launcher is? It doesn't look like a Stinger. I am gonna be real bummed if there are a bunch of fake weapons in this game.

the AT4 is NOT an AtoA rocket. It's a portable, squad based Rocket similar to an RPG (in terms of taking out armor)

I guess I can get over the fact that the AT4 is not an anti air weapon pretty easily, given that they are including the AA12 in the game.

That gun is pure sex... Yeah I don't know that much about the AT4. Just saw it splash up on the screen when he switched weapons. Does anyone know what other guns were in that clip I posted?
