Watching epic battle scenes and figuring out with a buddy of mine what could have been done to turn the tables has always been a fun thing to do, but we disagree now about the outcome of the final battle scene of Scarface.
I think its likely, considering all of the firepower he had, along with his position over the intruding enemy. He ended up losing for various reasons like making tactical mistakes, i.e. not covering his rear because he had to know it was unsecure. Had he kept an eye behind him, then he may have seen the assassin sneaking up behind him.
My friend disagrees, and thinks there is no way Tony could have survived, even if he acted in a tactically flawless manner. He says the size of the intruding enemy was too big to withstand until all of them were defeated.
What do you think?

His position didn't grant him much opportunity for escape.
It's Tony fucking Montana. Yes, absolutely.

It's nowhere near as unrealistic as Sylvester Stallone matching up with Carl Weathers in a legit boxing match

I'd guess yes. They did make a video game sequel with him surviving.
I'd guess if it played out like the battle in GTA: Vice City it would have been possible.

I think the mountain of cocaine was the influencing factor.

If he had taken out the leader, he might have driven off the rest of the invaders. He really needed more ammunition and more cocaine. I’m also thinking he was hallucinating and was distracted by pelicans.
This poll and it's title are spoilers.

I think you need to not just look at it tactically, but why he's so lousy tactically at the end. Montana isn't smart, but he's very canny, and he's able to make very astute moves early in the movie, like having part of his crew wait in the car during the drug deal and the phone call to Frank. By the end, I don't think he's making mistakes just because his skills are slipping but because he's genuinely self-destructive. There are all kinds of smart ways of saving the ambassador, and he picks the one that's guaranteed to put a price on his head. By the end, he's killed Manny and Elvira. After that, I think he really wants to leave this life, he no longer has anything to live for. He's like a cockroach, he'll keep going and survive almost anything, but he's okay with the fact that the assassins will finally kill him.

When I die I want to go out like Tony Montana.
Mainly cause people would ask why I was killed by a south american drug cartel and where I got the fully automatic M16 from.

He would have if his daughter, Hannah Montana, was there to help.
