It premiered tonight. Greg Daniels created it (guy who did the American version of The Office).

I thought it was completely unfunny in each and every way. Did anyone else bother watching it tonight?

I watched the first fifteen minutes. There were a few laughable moments but it was lame for the most part. Amy Pohler looked fat too.

I found it sorta funny. Aziz always kills me. Also, as a rule, I don't judge any show on their pilot

I found Poehler to be a parody of Michael Scott--his stupidity taken to the max. She makes Michael seem like a believable character. Aziz was the best part. Rashida Jones was nice eye candy as well.

It was funny, but not amazingly funny. I'll probably watch at least through its short run this spring though.

It was ok just the Office, but not.

totally agree. complete office clone and an unfunny one at that. characters look right at the camera, structure is totally the same. and i like how we got karen from the office as a reject character from her old dayjob.

made it even worse, i thought, that it was sandwiched between two fairly funny episodes of office

Same here.

Aziz was great

"No, I'm married, I'm just an open person"

Amy Pohler falling down the hill was good

I found it pretty funny.

I'll give it a chance.

It's a pilot so I won't judged it too harshly, but it will have to work hard to distance itself from the office because as it it right there, it's too much of a rip-off.

We should all remember that the Office was just ok in its first season. It took a big leap in S2.

Yep. While it may be good to be associated with The Office, it will hurt P&R to be directly compared to The Office.

Haha...yeah, I think the best part was Aziz trying to pick up Rashida Jones at the citizens' forum.

Yeah, I enjoyed it, didn't love it, a good way to pass time last night waiting for another office episode.

The Office was excellent in its first season.

Give Poehler some time to develop her character into something other than a Michael Scott parody and this show could be pretty good. Aziz is hilarious.

It was fine. Like whatever shit NBC lumped in with Friends for that fanbase, I'll watch this. It's watchable and comes alongside The Office and 30 Rock. Unlike those shows I'm not going to download every episode and keep them on my hard drive.

I'm sorry. We've been over this many times and most of the cast seems to agree if you listen to the dvd commentaries. Season one was good, but compared to the show's apex, it just isn't on that level. Michael was more of an ass than a doof and the supporting characters weren't developed at all. It didn't have the flow that say s2 or s3 had with the perfect mix of story and jokes. Good, but not great.

The Office season 1 was almost word for word of the UK version. That's why so many people didn't give it a chance, it was only late in that season/early season 2 did it start to offer something different to the uk version.

For that reason i think this show will be a winner in a few months time when people are more aware of the other characters back stories so that the writers can use them in different ways.

Overall i thought it was good, especially for a pilot it had me interested the entire episode and felt like a bit of an office 're-boot' with new characters and new environments which can only set it up for great viewing in the future.

I could only stand it up to the first commerical break. Don't think I'll be watchin it again.

Amy Pohler looked fat too.

Didn't she just have a kid right before that? Or was she still pregnant during the filming of the pilot?

I came to the show with diminished expectations and laughed a lot. Pohler was good, Aziz was great, Wainwright III was excellent.

Amy Poehler is the worst part of the show. Maybe she is miscast or something but the supporting characters are all superior to her in basically any important way.

jemeske
04-24-2009, 04:06 PM
I agree. I don't know why, but I kind of turned against Poehler a few years ago and now I just have a distaste for her and her acting. That weird face she makes all the time. Bleh.

Otherwise, these three eps have been very impressive. I wish they'd let Rashida be hotter, but that's not her character. Aziz and the boyfriend have been all money.

This show is fantastic. Was that the season finale?

When did you graduate? 1968. Oh, yea my buddy graduated in 2005, so.. probably missed him.

jemeske
05-14-2009, 10:55 PM
Yeah, it was the finale. I was thinking they were gonna have the boyfriend trip into the pit at the end and break his legs again, but Brendanawicz was even better.

Aziz talking about his wife was great both to Mark and then later to Leslie. "This is my wife and she's my age."

There is one thing about this show that is VERY much different than The Office.

On the Office, Michael is the best character, which some of the most awkward and funny laughs.

Parks...the rest of the cast is what brings the funny. Seriously. Aziz is awesome.

"Oh my god. Your boobs are dead."

"Sandwich, are you turkey or ham. Ham. ...Laaaaaaaampp, wishyouwerealampthatwouldlightupwhenyougettouched."

"We started we were Teddy Bear Suicide but then we changed it to Mouse Rat, then we were God Hates Figs, Department of Homeland Security, Flames for Flames, Muscle Confusion, Nothing Rhymes with Orange uh then Everything Rhymes with Orange, Punch Face Champions, Rad Wagon, Puppy Pendulum Possum Pendulum Penis Pendulum, Handrail Suicide, Angel Snack, Just the Tip, Three Skin, uhhh, Jet Black Pope. We went back to Mouse Rat and now we are Scarecrow Boat. God when I hear myself say Scarecrow Boat out loud I kind of hate it."

I hope they don't treat him like Roy and get him off the show once the inevitable breakup happens because he's definitely one of the funniest parts of the show.

NOTKyle
05-15-2009, 10:19 PM
Nah you can only push the douchey boyfriend character so far. I don't see him lasting too much longer, because Brandowitz and Rashida Jones are totally gonna hook up.

jemeske
05-15-2009, 10:48 PM
Well he started the season in the opening credits as guest starring blah blah, but the last two or three eps he was just listed after the credits/theme song.

No way Rashida hooks up with Brando.

jemeske

His character confused me in the last two eps. One night he leaves Aziz at the bar with chicks, the next ep he's hitting on everything that moves.
