Theres a new Judge Dredd film on the horizon and having just watched the original again i have come to this suprising conclusion - its fucking awesome. Admittedly i have had a few drinks at this point but still this film does not get the recognition it deserves. Some major good points:

1 - Sylvester Stallone : Forget Rocky! The man was born to play this role. Badass to the end and delivers all the catchphrases perfectly.

2 - The ABC warrior : The thing is just awesome. 8ft tall. Wrist guns. Grimy, rusty exterior. My only question is why are we not building these things now?

3 - The plot : Manages to encapusulate most of the good stuff from the Judge Dredd universe in 92 minutes! Im sick and tired of having to sit through 3 hours of film to watch one third of a trilogy. This film keeps it short and sweet.

And everything else. Half grown clones. A cat fight between the sexy asian woman and the sexilicious Judge Hershey. Awesome "Heavy" Judge armour. A metropolis to rival Blade Runners L.A or Star Wars Coroscant. Mutant hillbilly cyborgs. A tolerable if not funny Rob Schneider.

So if youve seen this film i hope youll join me in praising it. If not you can probably get it for cheap on DVD and itll be worth it. Opinions?

Synopsis: In a dystopian future, Dredd, the most famous judge (a cop with instant field judiciary powers) is convicted for a crime he did not commit while his murderous counterpart escapes.

Sounds like a remake

According to IMDB its supposed to be out 2012

here is some concept art.

From http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/518/news-bites-thursday-may-20th-2004

Judge Dredd II: The film is in pre production in Toronto. No actor has signed yet, but 'Dan' indicates "the Helmet will stay on, the bad guy is Judge Death, and the original creators of 2000 A.D are on board supervising the script".

Looks like they are gona do for Dredd what theyve done for Batman. New big budget "gritty" semi realistic film. Who knows they might even have Christian Bale as Dredd and he can go apeshit at another stage hand.

The orginial was not too bad, and I enjoyed watching as a kid, but we will have to see about this remake.

I thought Judge Dredd the movie was awful. I liked Stallone better in Demolition Man. (As far as futuristic lawman stuff goes)
