If there's only a "shoot" button, it's not a simulator. Also, way too few titles since 1999. Knock yourselves out.

Rogue Squadron's a shooter.

Hell, pretty much anything on a console is, Wing Commander ports (which all sucked on a joypad) notwithstanding.

I'm REALLY not sure about Ace Combat...

Ace Combat is an arcade style Flight Action video game series published by the Japanese company Namco Bandai Games. Emphasizing action and dramatic plots over realism, the series has established itself in Japan, and the world as a prime example of the pseudo realistic flight action genre.

But because there are rather few titles out there, I'll think about allowing it.

TIE Fighter (PC)

It's the only one I've played at length, and really, why would you play any others?

LOMAC (PC)
BlackShark KA-50 (PC)
X-PLANE (PC)
FSX (PC)
Freespace (PC)

Might have to take one of those out and add Chuck Yeager's Air combat or Fighter Ace, those where the bomb diggity for their times.

TIE Fighter (PC)

Because Privateer 2 had Clive Owen and Christopher fucking Walken in it.

My two favorite intros to a flight sim.

Decent: Freespace (original)
NJ-xcgBL1mY

Falcon 4.0

Touche', sir. Video games with Hollywood talent are usually worthy of mention. (Example: GTA series) A development company isn't gonna put out a shitty product if you've got to put up the dough for A or B list names to be involved.

X-Plane 9
Microsoft Flight Simulator X
Chuck Yeager's Air Combat
Falcon 4.0

And I'd probably add Blackshark if I actually get ahold of it to play it.

Otherwise, I might actually throw Microsoft Space Simulator up there. Wonder what ever happened to my copy of that. Hrm...

TiM asked me the same question, and there is no way that Starfox is a simulator.

I've been watching through Babylon 5 again lately, and find myself wishing that the space combat sim based on that show hadn't been cancelled, as I'm totally confident it'd be on this list
