I never have, because I didn't realize anyone did this until recently. I guess it makes as much sense (or more really) as tipping the bellhop.

When I was in training for work awhile back I remember taking off to training leaving all of my pocket change on the counter in my room. Came back, it was all gone with a note stating "Thanks for the tip. :)"
Fucking bitch stole my snack moniez!
Only tip I willingly give precedes the shaft up her ass.

Hotel maids steal enough to make a decent wage, so I don't tip.

always tip hotel maids if you do not want them to drop your toothbrush in the toilet and place it back on the vanity.
just like not sending food back at a restaurant--but in reverse. oh hell you know what I mean!!!

Up to this point the only nice hotels I had stayed in that would require this was with my parents. I stayed in the Hilton in Melbourne, but it was for like 7 hours while we waited for our flight because we got grounded.
So no I have not yet, but if I stayed more then one day in a nice place I probably would.

She also through out Jerry's joke that he wrote on the napkin in the middle of the night. Bitch didn't deserve one.

in her defense...HE WROTE IT ON A CRUMPLED-UP NAPKIN. maids are not normally Mensa candidates, you know. hence the need for tips.
MY TIPPING POLICY:
I am a big tipper for all waiters/waitresses (those who make that $2.13/hour wage + tips). I start at 20% and then take off from there only if they screw-up while waiting my table (have to ask twice for more tea, etc).
I also tip sky-caps and doormen that standard $1 per bag.
However, I do not tip much if any for pizza delivery people who I know are already making $10/hour and the pizza did not really get her fast...If they bust ass getting it to me, I might give them a buck.
I do not tip into that jar on the counter when I pick up a take-out order I called in. Why should I? I came to THEM. I did not use their silverware or mess up their table or take up 30 minutes of the waitresses' time. That jar to me is for people who did not leave a tip at their table.

When I go to a hotel I never let the maids in until I am done fucking up the place. Then I leave a $10 or $20 depending on the number of towels she gives me when I ask for it and how much I messed the room up. Usually go like $2 a day plus.

I'm glad to see this outcome, because the people I was talking to were all like, "Psh-aaw! Only ignorant fools don't tip hotel maids." I didn't think this was common practice.

I prefer to wait until my stay comes to an end, and if they have showed there ass (that means good service) and not awakened me unnecessarily, I shall and will hook a sistah up everytime.

So people should tip me on the street if they don't want me to punch them in the face?
