24: REDEMPTION

Filmed on location in Cape Town, South Africa, and Los Angeles, 24: REDEMPTION stars Emmy Award winner Kiefer Sutherland along with new cast members Cherry Jones, Robert Carlyle, Gil Bellows and Academy Award winner Jon Voight.

After sacrificing everything for his country, Jack Bauer (Sutherland) is wanted by the U.S. government and now stands to lose the only thing he has left: his freedom. Working as a missionary in Africa, Bauer is called upon to stop a ruthless warlord from drafting innocent children into his murderous militia. First, Bauer must confront his own torturous past and face an impossible decision that will change his life forever. A decision that will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven, which debuts in January 2009.

Just saw this on a news site and figured I would post it:

Fox has announced that the first new episode of '24' in nearly two years will air on January 11 at 8 PM.

The night, a Sunday, will mark the start of '24's seventh season with a two-hour episode. Which will be followed by another two-hour block the next night, similar to what the network did with its sixth season premiere in 2007. The seventh season will take place in Washington, D.C. -- the first season of the show to take place outside of Los Angeles. It will begins with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) at a congressional hearing for interrogation methods he has used in the past.

The trailer does not look half bad. I have some hopes for this season!

Redemption was pretty much a decent tv movie, nothing to abhor about but nothing you would want to see again or pay for. The shows faltering and I really hope this season is going to pick it back up but I have severe doubts about it's longevity after the first few seasons. Focusing on shock value like reintroducing Almeida, who I loved as much as the next 24 fan, just seems like the writers scrambling to get ratings. Hopefully they bring the show back to what made it great, but I feel it's on the path towards mediocrity.

This is 24. All Europeans are liberal pacifists and every liberal pacifist is a stereotypical smug, arrogant, cowardly asshole. The bad guys are the United Nations and Amnesty Interna... Global (http://24.wikia.com/wiki/David_Weiss). Ironically, Republicans also tend to be scheming douchebags who can't wait to sell Jack down the river. I watch 24 for the action, not the politics, but it does crack me up.

I mean, Robert Carlyle steps on the one active mine in a 20 mile radius, even with Jack and the kids all around, and then the African baddies... And I've never heard of mine capable of blowing up ~5 guys at once. I thought they just blew off body parts and generally maimed people.

And Juma's people turning down trained mercenaries and then going through like 10 fully grown and trained soldiers to get just as many untrained children?

But whatever. Redemption delivered the action and that's what works and they should do more of it.

Overall, Day 7 looks like a great improvement on Day 6, not that that is saying much... The politics storyline seems to actually be relevant to the Jack storyline, the corporate bad guy seems to plug into current events well.

Entertaining, but the right-wing conservative values they ham up are really over the top. What's quite disturbing is the "warm fuzzy feelings" they are giving to their conservative demographic, really only contributing to their zealotry.

Other than that, "bouncing betty" mines or "spring-mines" jump up out of the ground before detonating, which delivers a fragmentation effect in a radius. Killing entire squads.

I don't think its a stretch at all to make Tony a bad guy. The president of the US is behind the murder of his wife, the murder of a Palmer, the attempted murder of Jack and finally they tried to kill Tony too. If anything was going to make you a terrorist, I have to say that should be it.

Jack when he has Tony at gunpoint on the ship, Tony runs and Jack JUMPS OFF THE SHIP, onto a cargo container, does a barrel roll/somersault, leaps off the cargo container onto Tony going "Rrragh!"I liked when the FBI was self-righteous with their, "We follow the law," bullshit. But it took Jack 5 seconds to convince the head FBI guy to not get a warrant. And then the FBI chick was like, "I can control him," and 20 minutes later she's about to watch him gouge a guy's eye out with a Bic pen, and 40 minutes after that Jack's convinced her that the FBI is compromised with spies and she needs to go rogue to capture Tony.

As far as Tony not being the bad guy, or possibly up to some kind of good. Remember Tony did commit treason and was arrested during Day 3.

Sounds like Jack needs to be on the debate team because he can convince anyone of anything.

Tony commited treason because he had no other choice, but being a terrorist is about a series of choices. Still think Tony is a bad guy, and I also think thats a good thing for the show.

I'm sure Jack is a legend in the 24 Universe. Look at the young FBI agent a few episodes ago that took the time to let Jack know he idolized him.

I find it hilarious that Motobo may be owned by deporation laws and some angry woman in a wheelchair. At least it'll save him from being owned by a pissed off Jack Bauer.

jack seems very low key this season. i wonder if that is going to last the whole season? he has had his moments, but for the most part the other guys are picking up the bauer torch.

I dunno, Jack's just a private citizen who's running around DC jacking cars and killing criminals. That doesn't seem low key.

maybe that is what is different. i missed the first few episodes. i guess since he doesn't have CTU to back him, his actions are that much more wild. the carjacking after the stabbing was a great part of the show also.

i dunno if it's just me or what, but these two individually are like the anti-boner. with their powers combined, they might just kill stiffies as we know them.

That's true...I haven't seen Jack waterboarding the disabled. Bonus points for black folks.

So is Tony up to something? Seems like something is going on with him. Whatever the reason is I just want to see more of him. They brought him back from the dead and haven't used much of him yet.

Also are they going to wait for the last episode for the jack-agent walker love scene. He does like to get slapped around.

Well if Bauer and Agent Walker do have a love scene, she'll be dead within the hour.

Yeah, but first she'll fuck away all his memories of Audrey. Probably Terri, too. Nothing beats "we almost died" sex with a hot redhead.

See i never liked "Red" from that 70's show, and this certainly the right role for him, further brewing the hatred i have for him... I hope he gets a bullet in between his eyes...
