MGS3 is one of my favourite games of all time.
It was a tough call between Metal Gear and Splinter Cell. I voted MGS because of the story line, character development and attention to detail. (Hideo)

Syphon Filter 2 is criminally underrated, and Hitman 2 is just monstrous fun, but in the end, MGS3 is as good as it gets in this genre.

Kojima has always said he wants to merge video games and movies. He has also stated his love for James Bond films. I defy anyone to play MGS3 and not think it is a perfect marriage of film and videogame as well as a damn good Bond film.
Although MGS3 was a great game, MGS1 gets my vote because the gap between nothing and MGS1 is greater than the gap between MGS1 and MGS3. The first MGS was ground breaking and genre setting.

I can understand your choice, I love the original MGS. However I just enjoyed every moment of MGS3 more than any other MGS game so I felt compelled to vote for it.
MGS4 was a fine send off for the franchise. There seems to be allot of hype lately for a possible MGS5. I will say now for the record that if Kojima replaces Snake or Big Boss with Raiden as the main character for the next game I will not play it.

Assassins Creed I always likes, many sidequests and story built up.
They could do so much with the franchise and I'd still play it. We could play as Old Snake (aka Big Boss), we could play as Frank Jager (aka Gray Fox) or even Zero. Pretty much anyone from the original Fox Hound would be cool.

You do know there were Metal Gear games before MGS.

MGS really took it next level, though. It took gaming in general to the next level.
You do know there were Metal Gear games before MGS.
I'd hardly call those break through games.
