After being stumped about this since it was put up I went ahead and voted Saren because
A. He needs some love
B. Out of everyone he it the one I'd most want to see on the silver screen.
C. I voted for Fallout3 in the RPG thread.

I'd have loved to see Sin in a movie.
And then I got my wish, only the movie was called Cloverfield.
Tough call between Psycho Mantis and Sephiroth but decided on Sephiroth because Psycho Mantis isn't my favorite MGS villain while Sephiroth was my favorite FF villain.
That and you get to smack his ass with an Omnislash.

Because there was nothing special about Liquid? You shot at him when he was in a great big robot, then you went toe to toe with him on top of the same, and finally, you shot at him in a vehicle chase. Big deal. Mantis, on the other hand...

I mean in terms of storyline. Mantis was just a stooge, if it wasnt for the whole controller swapping thing he wouldnt be very memorable.

I'd say the whole bunch from the les enfants terrible project are special. It's more than just the battle that makes a villain a villain.

Sure, but with all the ridiculously imaginative villains Kojima throws at you, I found fighting Liquid to be, say, a bit too straightforward - with one exception: the Liquid/Ocelot fistfight at the end of MGS4.
I'm leaning towards Sephiroth, though: If his appearance in FFVII hadn't made him awesome enough, his optional (hard as fuck) boss roles in Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 should put him over the top.
Plus, THAT fucking music.

That fight has gone down in my memory as one of the greatest gaming moments of my life. During that whole fight I mad a massive grin on my face, particularly when the snake eater music kicked in.

I know that my man-love towards ZoE is getting on your nerves, but Anubis was the shit, too.
A final boss whom you cannot beat, no matter what the fuck you do. That's how Kojima sets up a sequel. And then, the satisfaction of zero-shifting his arse all the way to hell in ZoE2...

I loved the original ZoE but I never picked up the sequel. I hope he makes one for the PS3.

I still contend that ZoE2 is the best looking game on the PS2, full stop.
As for a PS3 sequel...
In a recent GameSpot interview with Kojima, he was asked about a third installment of the game. His response was: "I've been getting questions about that, and I've pretty much counted each one as a demand...I'll be sure to count that one too." An even more recent interview describes Hideo Kojima as saying: "I want to make it, but I'm so busy with MGS4 that I have to focus on that right now." While no confirmations of a third game were made, the possibility of one has been brought to attention many times. Kojima has even stated that he "has an idea for the next Zone of the Enders game"
I wouldn't even know what ZOE was if it didn't come out with the MGS2 demo. But I played it and loved it.

I loved Dead Cell from MGS2. I am probably one of the few people that actually tried to listen to all the codec calls to Hal and Stillman concerning those guys. There was so much to be heard there, and so much backstory- it was brilliant. I wish they had the same thing for MGS3.. instead the bosses just explode? (Apparently some sort of last resort/suicide device so no trace of them is left..?) A bit disappointing, but great stuff nonetheless.

I always liked Sagat, he could go match up well aganist anybody while his story grew from a villian to almost a anti-hero.

Sephiroth - because after he kill Aeris you really, truly hate him. Thats what makes a good bad guy. You have to hate him as much as the hero does.

You hate Cloud? I mean, the guy's a bit emo, but still.

He was a murderer and a tyrant who espoused a silly worldview, and you spend the best parts of the game trying to kill him. Even if you buy into his/Ayn Rand's nonsensical worldview, he was definitely an antagonist.
Though I do admire the fact that he killed himself in order to take back control of his life. Very existential.
