Big catch-all category. if the vote tallies warrant it, maybe more than one title makes it to the favourite game poll.

Another hard one, [Cool Storytelling + Polish - Nothing new] vs. [Intriguing Story + New exp - Some kinks] vs. [Gritty Story + Expansive Sandbox - Getting pretty played out]
Hmmm.

Okami and SotC were both really, really good. I love me a good GTA game, but for games to break totally new ground like that, that's something else.
ZoE2 is brilliant, as well; mechas, space battles, and Hideo Kojima? Killer combo right there.

SotC I definitely liked, but I can't seem to love it. Cool environment, love the concept, pulled off pretty well. But it always felt like it was missing something. Would preorder the second one in a heartbeat though if they choose to make it and it was cross platform. New graphical powerhouses, DLC, Achievments and the 360 controller would make me a happy puppy.

Somehow they need to cross Fallout 3 and SotC. Add some RPG elements, no need for them to apply to 'boss battles' even. I don't care if my 'skills' I level help me during the epic battles, but give me the player stuff to do out in the world and make a few choices.
I fucking dare you to beat NG: Black on the hardest difficulty. I double dog dare you!

I've already done it once, why would I do it again?
Archangel

Yeah, SotC was a bit empty. But then, that was the whole point of the game's moral dilemma: In an utterly barren wasteland, you kill its only inhabitants (save for a few birds and lizards), which also happen to be awesomely majestic creatures. And for what? I think the desolation of the game world gives the story an even more disturbing spin.

True enough.

I call shenanigans. I picture you as a mediocre gamer at best.

And I'm lieing out my ass about NG: Black. I stink at that game, but I think my friend did it. He has a hard on for insanely hard combat in games.
It's what makes Ninja Gaiden such a good game. It's not impossible difficult, you just need to be badass. Not a game for button mashers.

FPS I'm above average, but not by whole lot. RTS I get smoked at online. But anything else give me some time and I will pwn that shit.
Edit: Actually, I'm only above avg at FPS because I don't spend enough time on any single one. If I had the amount of play time under my belt as the guys that play online I'd probably stand right there with them.

Nah, fuck it, Okami it is. Great story, totally original, gorgeous visuals, a shitload to do, and just the perfect balance between exploration, character development/levelling, action and plot to make it stand the fuck out. Anybody who hasn't played this should turn in their gamer cards.
I refuse to play RTS online. I like to fuck around and build large bases with lots of defenses and super weapons. I get zerg'd online every time. Other wise than that I'd call myself above average on any other genre. (Minus sports and racing because I don't play those.)

I cracked the top 500 worldwide at Soul Calibur IV last year, which I guess means that I don't suck at it. But I haven't played it in so long, I doubt that I'm still in the top 5,000 these days.

I've almost bought it a couple times, but then I hear 'Oh its like Zelda' and I stop dead. Zelda just isn't MY game anymore. I'd say it needs some sort of reboot but then again I know most people still flock to it. I want to like it, but it just comes down to pacing and controls.

god of war II was complete shite. it was almost as bad as heavenly sword.
Another game that would top this list if anyone actually played it is the Otogi games by Sega.

I broke the top 500 in Geometry Wars in a few play modes for awhile, but I'm willing to bet those are long gone now.
Also I think I was in the top 100 or even 50 in the COD: Modern Warfare for the Training test thing for the first week or so. But then everyone found some bug where you can bug through a wall and it I lost interest.
I was number 1 on Zuma in the original xbox arcade!

I never even knew there was a end to survival mode in DOA 4 until my roommate started beating it 10 times a day.

Really? Fucking Crackdown was put on this shit and GTA4 wasnt?
God damn, if this doesn't sum up how retarded this entire 'favorite...' thing is I don't know wtf does.
Crackdown was/is fucking terrible, it's a GTA rip-off but with crazy jumping abilities, ZOMG KOOLZ!!!!. GTA3 and 4 were both steps forward for the entire franchise.

One was nominated, the other wasn't.
Explain to me how that is the fault of anyone but, say, you.

GTA III
Where would the world of gaming be if not for GTA III? Crackdown, Saints Row 2, GTA VC, GTA SA and many others wouldn't be around.

Yeah, but does originality trump quality? Because while GTA III is certainly a great game besides being ground-breaking, GTA: VC is just superior in every regard.

why stop there? was san andreas worse than vice city?

In certain aspects, yes, at least in my opinion. Sure, the game world was ridiculously vast, but for all that, it was also relatively empty. Every corner of Vice City had character; for the 150+ hours I (happily) spent in San Andreas, I still can't tell certain street corners from others. You could do every mission and side quest except for the horseshoes/graffiti/photo op stuff, and not have seen half of the map.
Also, one question. If you're gonna have mountains and forests and shit, where the fuck are the animals? How cool would it have been to drive around Mt Chiliad with a mountain lion or a bear chasing your arse? Or to have some cows and pigs on the farms you could shoot and eat to replenish your health?
I suspect PETA had their gay hands in this.

That game would be complete if it was Multiplayer....doing drive-bys with Sawed off shotties and Tommy Guns......Gold.
Assassins Creed really pissed me off.
Its takes a while to get used to, movement at times seemed sluggish and slow. Small crowded areas tend to be harmful to you.
Still, game had a great storyline.
