I love how in the trailer they don't go to town on bullet time. I think I'd be happy only seeing it once or twice in this movie, as cool as it is.

Ok... im sorry but i LOVED the game..
And this is NOTHING like the game so far.
Granted, trailer doesnt show much..
But whatever that big bird thing was, was bullshit...
Game was about a cop who's family was killed and his vengeance, going around town, doing drugs and killing those in his way to get revenge.
Doesn't exactly look like that in that trailer

when i first saw Resident Evil 1, the first thing i thought of when we first saw Matt Addison(real name Eric Mabius), would have been the perfect Max Payne. We'll see what we get fron Dirk.

It's kind of liked a darker 'The Punisher' to be honest.. I hope they don't go too hollywood on this film..

Also hopefully they don't go to Frank Miller (sin city) either. I like dark but just keep the film noir with some action. No need to go to over the top with visuals.

The bullet time should look better than anything we've ever seen. Apparently they shot it at 1000 fps. Faster than ever. So it will look slower and hopefully cooler than ever.

Got to admit, Marky Mark was an odd choice, but after seeing how silly that dive looked in the bank shoot out, it's clear that anybody would look a little odd in this role.
They've already got the look down, now they just have to refrain from fucking up the story.

But man, when I found out Ludacris was in the this they lost me.

Ludacris was fine in Crash.
He was okay in crash, which on multiple viewings is pretty gimicky in its plot devices.

Before the final Con-only trailer, John Moore talked about the filming technique and how they wanted to stay true to the visuals in the game. Though the game uses bullet time, they felt that was overdone in movies and wanted to come up with something new. So they got a new camera titled The Phantom, which shoots at an astonishing 1,000 frames per second (most videos you see out on the web are running at about 23 fps). That allowed them to slow the shots down to an unbelievable level, which leads us into our new trailer for the film.

This one definitely has potential. It should atleast be better than the new Punisher.
I'm curious as to how they are working the Valkyries in, it's obvious that they are straying from the game plot but it still looks really good.

The director of this movie threw a big-ass hissy fit when they gave it the R rating, so they probably just edited in a bunch of cutaway shots.

Probably about 10 million dollars.
If this is "R", it makes 23 million tops opening weekend.
As a PG-13, it can hit the 30's.
At least I think it can.

I went to install it on my comp the other day because I couldnt really remember what happened and the fucking disk wanst in the box. I'm pissed.
It's been years since I've played the game. But I was thinking after I saw the preview a few times...what's with the angels and shit in the preview? I don't remember the game having a supernatural theme at all.

ya i definitely thought that as well.. i do remember the crazy drugged up sequences where you had to walk the tight ropes and shit.. but other than that i dont remember giant fucking birds.
I remember it as being about the underworld as in the mob, pimps, etc. Not underworld as in...well Underworld.
The action scenes involve Mila Kunis shooting SMGs and the main villain is Sucre from Prison Break. That is just too bad.
Beautiful cinematography though for sure.

I saw it. I wouldnt say it was a bad movie, but it wasn't great. Went a bit slow sometimes, but that could be because i was dead tired. It wasn't really what I expected, and if you want it to be exactly like the game, well it isn't.
But it was good for a night out.

Marky Mark is a wigger - this role needed someone more that could do a serious, brooding cop character without seeming goofy, and Wahlberg is exactly that with his mannerisms and accent. I never felt an emotional connection to him, nor did I care that his family got slaughtered by druggies. Clive Owen, Matt Damon, and any number of up & coming actors would've been better than him...IF the script had been worth a shit, and it isn't, although it apparently is somewhat true to the plot of the first game. Mila Kunis is decent to look at, but when she speaks all I get in my head is a big image of Meg Griffin. Beau Bridges is the only other major player, and he's more or less a walking stiff the entire time. If you don't catch that he's ultimately responsible for Max's family being dead the first time he shows up on screen, you may want to be screened for Downs' syndrome.
The last 20-30 minutes are good and there's some nice visual work therein. Still not enough to save the whole of the thing; I think whatever editing was done to get this down to a PG-13 may have hurt it somewhat, but even with more blood and a boobie or two it's still bad.
