Took my old lady and my buddy to Gordon Biersch last night for the buddy's birthday. I had the steak (which was fantastic) but more importantly, he and I each had a beer sampler. I've had it before, but never really critiqued them. So, here's my ratings:

1-Czech Lager - Fantastic! Very hoppy and has a good bite to it. Tastes like a beer should. Reminds me of the beers we drink in Croatia.
2-Red Ale (seasonal) - smoky with a very woody finish, taste reminded me of BBQ. I wish this one was made year-round instead of Hefeweizen.
3-Maerzen - Slightly sweet and fruity, but tasted too light. I think this batch may have been done poorly, because I've had it before and liked it more.
4-Golden Export - Clarity, Color, Body, and Taste is like a continental light beer (e.g. Bud Light, Miller Lite). Very smooth. If you're drinking for mass quantities, this would be the one to pick.
5-Schwarzbier - Black beers have always made me wary, but this one isn't bad. A roasted coffee flavor is very prevalent, which didn't excite me very much.
6-Hefeweizen - Terrible. It's a wheat beer, which I've never liked, and it seemed to have a aftertaste like a banana. It's also unfiltered, so it has an off-putting cloudy look.

Czech Lager is super-duper good, but I could order any of the top four and be happy, as I think each is above average. The black color of Schwarzbier makes it unappetizing to me and Hefeweizen is extremely poor.

I have heard good things about less known american beers and would love to try getting some, but as im living in Sweden with the governments alcohol monopol my only chance of finding it is through an order. Can't really try them out myself.

There are so many small breweries and sort-of national brands, it'd be impossible to get all that specific. As far as known national brands and items that are more readily available, one of my personal favorites is Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Not too bold, but not bland. Really can pick up on the cherry in the background, but this is by no means a "dressed up" beer with fruit in it.

Another favorite of mine is actually a brand called Shock Top. It's an Anheuser-Busch label but it's a more traditional Belgian-style wheat ale with a bit of a citrus finish.

It's tasty; not quite as stout as I was expecting, clean finish, no real discernible aroma. I like it alright but my current favorite is their cherry wheat variety. It's like a Belgian style beer but with a distinct cherry flavor (it's not sweet, though).

I'm not too sure how available this outside of Texas, is but it is awesome. I got excited when I saw it in the frosty beverage section of my local grocer. It is only available in the fall and I really got into it last year, so I am trying to drink myself sick of it while it's still available. I tend to like the upper scale ales as a rule, but I have to say as far as refreshing after a hot ass day in the shop and testing literally hundreds of types of beer. Blue Moon for some reason is the absolute most thirst quenching refreshing brew I have ever had. I've tried many other citrus wheat ales such as Leinenkugels and what not but they just don't match up.
I don't really care for the lemony beers or even Blue Moons Harvest Moon, they just kind of taste nasty to me.

I was at a get together a while back and towards the end the only thing left in the fridge was Landshark and nobody wanted to drink it. That was even before they knew it was made by Anheuser Busch. That was from people who drink Keystone lite and Pabst and they didn't want to drink Landshark.
I didn't find it to be terrible tasting myself, it just seemed like another AB specialty "trend" brew that wasn't altogether memorable.

All I really care to say about it is that they've done a tremendous job of ripping of Sam Adams. It is maybe a bit less stout than Boston Lager, but not by much. An uneducated drinker might not even note the differences, but they're there.
