Ok... I consider myself a big Slipknot fan. I just saw them in concert last month and it was the best concert I have ever been to. I was sporting a semi while downloading All Hope Is Gone this morning BUT that semi turned into a vagina after the first run through of the album.

Corey Taylor can sing… we get it… and we get it with Stone Sour… I WANT THE SLIPKNOT COREY TAYLOR.

They are going to look stupid as hell wearing masks and looking badass on stage singing a song about “dead memories in my heart” all sweet and slow.

I am ready to kill…. fuckitall.

Right before I posted this “snuff” started. It’s slow singing, acoustic guitar, and baby bunnies hopping around in a field of flowers at the end of a rainbow.

ACOUSTIC GUITAR?! LOVE SONG?!

WHAT – THE – PHUCK – IS – THIS – SELLOUT – SHIT?!?!?!??!?!?!

OMFG I am going to hear Slipknot on all the pop/soft rock radio stations… seriously… why?

This band could drop 3 members and be much more appealing. Sorry, the "novelty" wore off on me long ago. You have masks, we get it. Stone Sour's a much better band.

Yeah, i used to be a huge slipknot fan but kinda lost interest. I can still listen to their stuff every once in a while but for the most part they wore out their welcome. And i still don't understand why they need 3 drummers. That being said, i like corey's vocals so i like stone sour and i might actually give this cd a listen.

I didn't even know they were coming out with a new cd.

And old rednecks apparently from what I saw at Mayhem fest last week. I couldn't help but laugh at men 18+ dressed as Corey Taylor or Joey Jordison.

I like Slipknot, but in small doses and actually at this point on CD. They're alright live, but to me, they try to hard (as it's been said, 3 drummers? really? They would be completely fine with a singer, 2 guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and Sid). It's almost like they had friends who wanted to be in the band, but had no talent so they told them to put on a mask and bang on a garbage can. They're a gimmick band like KISS is a gimmick band. Which is fine, but no offense to the "maggots" here, but most of their hardcore fans are complete toolbags.

I agree about their fans, a lot of them are borderline retarded. They get even better when they hide behind the internet and talk like they are 12 year old Asians "OMFG Slipkn0t iz teh bezt!"

I disagree about the percussionists. Not only do both of them do backup vocals, they add a lot of sound that a traditional drummer cannot. They aren't playing regular drums, they are creating different sounds from beer kegs/altered drums and from using unorthodox drumsticks. Also during their live shows Crahan is a lot fun to watch, he really gets into it and has fun. Could they get by with just Crahan? I think so but I don't think it's worth even complaining about if they keep the second. It would also be shitty if they dumped Crahan, his family originally funded Slipknot and he has contributed a lot throughout the life of Slipknot. After this last album though... I can barely remember the percussion being used. POS album.

Masks? You're a fucking tool if you wear one to a concert. I think it adds a little to the show because it's different than the typical concert. Like GWAR and the face paint of KISS, Mudvayne, and even lone musicians like Wes Borland... it's a gimmick. I like the fact they are personalized by each band member and changed each tour. Once again, I don't think I like them more or less because of the masks.

Crahan is the one I can stomach the least. If he one day disappeared, I'd be ok.

Their new song sounds pretty much like a stone sour song to me.

But yeah, I still listen to them every now and then, but I think this new album (which I have heard absolutely nothing from) is completely unneccessary.

Not a big fan, but I want to see them in concert. I've seen some vids online and they look crazy live. Never listened to Stone Sour besides the single that got some radio play. Didn't like that at all.

Gematria, vendetta, psychosocial, all hope is gone, and this cold black are all great songs. I love their self titled, and Iowa. Both wonderful cds. Vol. 3 is garbage. But im not hating this new CD. it sounds way more old school slipknot than Vol. 3 does. yea the singing is rather annoying sometimes. but it doesnt detract from some songs. snuff is gay.

Whoops. This band needs to start being more careful. First Sid breaks both ankles, now Jordison breaks one. Europe... CANCELLED

SLIPKNOT has released the following statement:

"It is with huge regret and disappointment that we have been forced to cancel our imminent European festival appearances at Leeds, Reading, 2 Days a Week, Area 4, as well as exclusive performances for MTV Europe and Virgin TV. The other night, Joey Jordison [drums] broke his ankle and doctors have advised Joey to stay off his leg for 4-6 weeks to prevent further injury or permanent and more serious damage.

"We know you will be hugely disappointed and so are we. Canceling shows is never an easy decision and we apologize to all our fans, friends and family for not being there to throw down with you. We will be back in Europe this November and can't wait to see you all then."

So I went out and bought the Disaterpieces DVD this weekend and finally got around to watching it last night (and I have it on here at work on my second monitor this morning).

I am very impressed. The audio is great and because it was filmed in 2002 (soon after IOWA) it has all the old kick ass songs. The video quality was also good and they had 30 plus cameras covering the concert including a camera mounted on the masks of each band member. If you have never seen them live this will give you a pretty good idea of what you will get when you see them, a overall kick as show.

Some of the highlights:
Sid Wilson (Turntables) jumps into the crowd like 3 times, the last time was during Spit It Out and when he gets back on stage he is practically naked because they mauled him (yes you see his ass). It was funny as hell because Sid punched all the people pulling on him in the head repeatedly. While out on the crowd they ripped off his camera but someone returned it at the end of the show. The DVD also includes an amazing drum solo by Joey Jordison where his entire drum set goes into the air, turns on its side facing the crowd and the spins. If you saw them on their recently at the Mayhem Fest it is very similar. If you are a drummer or a fan of drummers then this part alone is worth the $20 for the DVD. The "Behind the scenes" parts of the DVD are typical of most band/concert DVDs. I always like seeing those because I can't imagine what it would be like to get ready to play in front of thousands of fans. When I have to get in front of 10-50 people for a presentation at work, no matter how many times I have done it, I get nervous and seeing them do the same is always cool.

The Dislikes:
I understand that switching camera angles quicker when the music is fast is the industry standard but good God... slow it down sometimes. There are a couple time I just wanted it to slow it down just because my mind is like 2 screens behind and trying to comprehend what is going on. Back to the "Behind the scenes", the fan signing before the show makes me want to punch puppies. Out of the thousands of fans that get shit signed they managed to show all the fucktards wearing masks to the concert. There's also a 14 year old that goes nuts and throws himself on the floor and flops around like a fish. That little fucker is a 14 year old past due abortion that I would be happy to preform the procedure on.

Overall I am very happy with the purchase and just ordered a copy for an out-of-state Slipknot friend. She is going to fucking love it.

I retract most of my statements about All Hope Is Gone.

I listened to it again after giving up on it but I changed something. I listened to it in my car, not on my computer at work via headphones.

For some reason, and maybe it's just the version I downloaded origionally, it sounded horrible. I couldn't hear the drums, the vocals were too overpowering, and the guitars just weren't right. I downloaded another copy and burned a CD to listen to it on my hour drive home a couple weeks ago and after a few play throughs, I like it. Even the cope I have on my work PC and listen to at work is better. I think I got a shitty copy origionally.

Keep in mind, I retract 'most' of my comments. It still isn't the old Slipknot but it is alot better than I first thought. I am still more than willing to drive out of state to see them live again.

10-14.I disagree man. I'm 33, I've been into metal for over 20 years and I'm a big Slipknot fan. Seen them live twice and they were awesome. Corey has a rare talent that alot of metal bands lack these days and that is audible screaming. I have a hard time listening to alot of metal now because I gotta read the lyrics in order to understand anything they are saying. Song after song of inaudible screaming just becomes annoying and intolerable.

The masks are a little silly, I admit. I don't take it very seriously, but I do really enjoy their music.

Yeah, I'll be passing on this. Trivium is pure shit and the mix of 'Knot crowd vs. Coheed crowd will suck.

Grammy-award winning hard rockers SLIPKNOT announced today their first U.S. headline tour in support of their #1 album "All Hope Is Gone". The tour, which kicks off on January 23 in St. Paul, MN, will hit 33 cities across the country, and include an historic stop at New York's Madison Square Garden, a first for the band. COHEED AND CAMBRIA and labelmates TRIVIUM round out the bill.

Frontman Corey Taylor says of the trek, "2009 is the 10 year anniversary of the world's first taste of this band. To celebrate we are coming back out with a killer tour, a couple great bands and the same ferocity with which we attack life. We want all of our maggots to come and celebrate with us, because if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have been here for 10 years. Get ready for chaos!"

A special iTunes presale will start on December 3 and be open to those who took part in the band's digital album presale earlier this year. Internet (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=109590#) pre-sales via Ticketmaster will commence on December 5, and the majority of dates will go on sale December 6.

SLIPKNOT is currently playing to sold-out arenas on the other side of the globe; including stops in Russia, Japan, Australia, Europe and wrapping in the United Kingdom with three sold-out nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo. Preceding "All Hope Is Gone"'s #1 debut, the band held the headline slot on this summer's sold-out inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, which drew the biggest crowds to a metal festival since SLIPKNOT played Ozzfest in 2004.

I never really got into Slipnot's music. I remember I was in high school when 'Wait and Bleed' hit the radio and all the white-trash kids in my school went nuts over it. I just couldn't stand listening to screaming. If I listen to it for more than a few minutes I actually get a headache.

I respect that it takes a certain degree of talent to scream like they do, but to me it just sounds like noise. Maybe if they just released instrumental albums I'd like it.

Exactly, i've always said, "once they sell out, they might not be half bad". But as long as their music sounds like shit, their crowds will be limited to "metalheads" who just want to break shit, and teenagers letting out their youthful angst. Stone sour on the other hand is actually pretty decent.

Jack Johnson is one of my favorite songwriters of the past 10 years. I like Sublime, I like Bob, I like tons of shit that you've never heard of too. Everything from Charlie Parker to Jimmy Hendrix. Music to me is something more than just what I listen to when I go home. I have spent more than half my life studying music, learning about chord tonalities, harmonies, cadences, intonation. Its really easy to tell if something passes the music test. If when you turn it off, you can hear an audible sigh of relief, its noise.

"On his release from the Army his father, James Allen "Al" Hendrix (1919–2002), took him, and changed his name to James Marshall Hendrix in memory of his deceased brother, Leon Marshall Hendrix."

Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix on November 27th, 1942, in Seattle (his name was changed to James Marshall Hendrix four years later). He acquired his first guitar at age 16 and joined a group, the Rocking Kings, a year later. Following an abortive stint in the Army, he hit the road with a succession of club bands and as a backup musician for such rhythm & blues artists as Little Richard (http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/little-richard), the Isley Brothers (http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/the-isley-brothers), Jackie Wilson (http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/jackie-wilson), the Impressions (http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/the-impressions) and Sam Cooke (http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/sam-cooke). In 1966 he was discovered by Chas Chandler, the former Animals bassist, while performing at New York’s Cafe Wha? with his group, Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. Chandler became Hendrix’s manager and brought him to England, where he absorbed the nascent psychedelic movement, changed the spelling of his first name “Jimi” and formed a trio with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell.

Busey - Try me.
Just for the record, I like all those bands/artists you listed, except Jack Johnson. Too cheesy for me. Anyways, here's a few.

I mean just the parts the drummer is playing, not the percussionists. Regardless, that shit is fucking hard to play. I played that when I was a teenager, I'm not really up to that anymore unless I spend a lot of time practicing. And yes, Herrera is nuts, that shit makes my thighs burn just listening to it.

Clown did a remix of Coheed and Cambria's "Welcome Home." It's rather good.

watching coheed live was like watching jack black in school of rock. reminded me a lot of dream theater.

My cousin went to see the Slipknot/CoCa show. He said Slipknot were awesome but Coheed sounded "like they were lip-synching".

i saw them about two weeks ago. fantastic show, but i completely missed trivium. from what i heard from the lobby and from other spectators... i didn't miss much.

coheed was excellent on a technical level, which i ordinarily like. what i didn't enjoy was watching the second guitarist pitch a bitch when some of his equipment was fucked up and his techie couldn't seem to work fast enough. admittedly it also looked like the bassist was mailing it in, and not actually playing.

slipknot came out and gave 150% from curtain rise to curtain fall. it's the second time i've seen them in person, nth time i've seen them live in some capacity, and they never fail to impress.

So fucking pumped... under two weeks till the show.

Maybe this time I won't cut my finger to the bone, lose my shirt, and crack a rib.

I'm not a big fan of Slipknot anymore, but they do put on one hell of a show. I've seen them 3 or 4 times (once in the past 5 years) and they've yet to let me down.

Your complaining because Mic Todd is so good on bass it looked like he was faking it?

definitely not complaining. for my first experience (live or otherwise) with coheed they were pretty fucking good. they weren't the band i was there to see, but they were decent nonetheless. my point on the bassist is that a lot of times he just stopped playing and walked off; not sure why. and as far as technical excellence is concerned i could name more than a few bassists off the top of my head that would literally put him to shame. again, not trashing him, just sayin.

I know what you mean and I agree. I could name several bassists that are much better than him. It just sounded weird when I read that.

Also, not speaking from experience, but I'm sure it's hard for a band to come up with a 50 minutes set list and be happy with it. Especially when you average song length is around 7 minutes and shit goes wrong with your equipment. Last couple times I've seen them and they were headlining, they played The Final Cut for over 20 minutes alone. We will all get the experience come March when the Neverender box set comes out.

Now back to Slipknot.
