I know we had one of these threads on the old GMF. And I got quite a bit of time on the road on my way to work every morning, so I'd like to know what you guys recommend.
As much as I love ESPN Radio, I got to say the best sports talk show right now is the Dan Patrick Show. I think while it's a bit more serious than Mike and Mike, the journalism in it just trumps anything out there. Thoughts?
I have grown tired of the national ESPN shows within the last year. I like the local stuff. but that's about it now.

Ricky, do you regularly listen to Hacksaw down in the SD area?

Well, I got satellite, so I don't really listen to local stuff.

Mike and Mike have been trying too hard for over a year now. Cowherd has a producer in his ear making him take controversial positions that will piss off large affiliate audiences. Van Pelt is dull and lost me completely with his whole anti-fantasy sports Phil Simms-esque tirade. When is Patrick on? I've got XM, and I always look for the show, but can't find it.

The Max Kellerman Show is the only thing I will listen to on ESPN Radio in NY. He and Kenney do a geat show
Penguin Rick

I used to listen to Kellerman, he's so biased to NY it's just silly. And he believes he knows everything about everything, it's quite annoying.

QFT. I just wish he'd apply that big brain to the national stage more. As much as I love the Yanks, it gets to be overkill after a while. I like when he and BK go nerding out. It can be a bit much but it beats the hell out of the cliched stupidity that so many of the 'experts' who comment on sports for a living continue to spit out. It's amazing how many of them are so very stupid and can't fomulate a single personal opinion.

Not sure. He's on ESPN in NY from like 10-1 or some shit. Then the blandness double shot of Tirico and Van Pelt. Dan Patrick quitting ESPN fucked up my afternoon listening while driving around aimlessly at work. At least Screamin A Smith is finally gone from there.

Colin Cowherd has the best national show because he talks NFL and college football 365. But I prefer the local shows because they talk Georgia football, Falcons, and Braves 365.

there are gonna be mainstream haters of mike and mike, because they are the biggest, but i still think they have a good show. They have the best guests, and they are good people in person also. I look forward to Friday mornings with Peter Gammons. That guy knows his shit.
The only reason that I haven't went satellite is because of Mac, Jurko and Harry on espn in chicago. If Mac wasn't such a douche it would be 10x better, but i've been listening for 5 years and fuckin love it.
Unfortunately I dont get to listen to Waddle and Silvy very much because of work, but from what I understand they get great guests because of Waddle's connections. Which reminds me that Waddle was on Mike and Mike to fill in for Golic last week.
Any other ESPN chicago guys or you on the dark side with The Score?

Mike and Mike have great guests...... and lob softballs at them. I'd love to hear them ask some tough questions. Like once. Ever.
Waddle and Silvy get the guests in part because of Tommy's connections but it's mostly their producer Randy Merkin doing a kick ass job. The only guys they get because of Waddle are the NFL Network people. Everyone else is the producer. It's an awesome show.
I like Boers and Berns better than Mac Jurko and Harry because Tiny irritates the hell out of me. It's still a great show altogether though.
I'd rather slit my wrists than listen to anything on The Score
As for Mike & Mike it is a show for the retards who don't know sports at your office can listen to and then think they know shit. It's progressively gotten worse.

Dave Dameshek on 710am ESPN in the LA market is good. Too bad they moved him from afternoon drive time to the 7pm slot.
Colin Cowherd is okay. It really depends on the day. He'll have a weird take on issues and then try and defend it by using illogical logic and then repeating it over and over as if that makes his arguement any stronger. When he does that shit, I change the station.
I've noticed that not one person has mentioned The Jim Rome show. He's fading into Bolivian...

I hate Colin Cowturd, i cant believe ESPN replace Kornheiser with him, i would rather listen to my mom and dad have sex than listen to him
I love listening to the guys on the NFL channel on sirius, they are all great and they respect the callers when they call in
I love Dan Patrick and Keith Olberman
I love Scotty Ferrall
I have never listened to the Mad Dog Chris Russo but i will give him a try to see if he is any good
Cowherd bores me to death with his pompous posturing, etc. He's like the Jay mariotti of talk radio (boy am I glad Fagiotti quit here. His column sucked. All he did was name call and crap on the town. Why be here?). I am beyond thrilled we get a local show here called "Mac, Juerko & Harry". It's easily the best show in Chicago during the day.

if I couldn't stand 30 minute shows from him, there's no chance I'm staying coherent listening to him 3 hours, 5 days a week. and honestly, who the fuck are those morons or 'clones' that call into the show?
if you love NFL talk radio, i would suggest you get Sirius and listen to the NFL network, its better NFL coverage than you will get anyday listening to ESPN radio

I was going to ask if any of you guys in California listen to him. I used to listen when he was on in Pittsburgh. I don't know if he does it out there, but he always had on guys who blogged about the Steelers, Pens and Pirates. It was cool to hear some different opinions instead of the same reporters all the time.

yeah, he basically does the same thing, only with the LA teams especially the Dodgers and Angels now. but come the NBA season, all you'll hear is the Lakers much like most LA stations.

I agree colin cowherd is a douchebag. Cant stand that voice. He annoys almost as much as Jim Rome and scott farell
How can i be the man, when you the man?
i love Scott Ferrall, he is great on Sirius
he doesnt hold back on his interviews, i cant stand when guys give lame question after lame question
anyone on Espn radio for that matter
i know his voice might not be for everyone , but i enjoy his show, for ufc/mma talk, it doesnt get any better than him or bubba the love sponge
also ADD, as a wrestling fan you would have loved to hear him interview a drunken Iron Schiek

Scotty Ferrall is who I listen to if I'm driving around late at night other wise I pick up the replay in the morning when Stern is boring.
On NFL Radio Adam Shine is knowledgable but whenevr he says "NFL Radioooooo" is annoys the shit out of me.

But I do like his show from time to time.

Ferrall is not for me. He's way too NYC-centric. He talks way too much about hockey and baseball, his "check it-check it-ouuuuut" is annoying and I hate his staff.
If your a hockey nut living in the NYC area, he's probably number one on your dial, though...
