But to comment on the WotLK cinny... I thought they could put more into it. I like the King talking in the background with his promising outlook on his son and the future while is son is the badest of the bad guys. I think Wrath will look a lot better than BC just for the simple fact that all the gear will not be purple and pink crystals flowing around everywhere.

I'm playing through the beta also. I haven't touched it in a few days though. So far I'm happy to say I haven't had to replace any of my gear. (70 rogue)- Granted I had pretty much all epics (mostly T4 raid gear though). I haven't gotten very far as I've been messing around with a Death Knight as well... and my mouse decided to die on me.

That's freaking great, when I was working at Gamestop I had one of the local coppers come in, my first thought was that he was going interview me for an arrest that happened in our store the night before but instead he came in to pick up the BC exp. I think the greatest part was that he tried installing it on his laptop on the cruiser and when that did not work he would bring his own laptop and post up near a starbucks on his lunch break and do some leveling.

I will roll one to do the pre-quests. I hear it is the best 5 hours you will ever spend ingame. After that... who knows. I believe the DK that comes out on 11/13 will not be the same DK that you will see in 3 to 4 months.

Yeah the DK quests are a ton of fun. It was all I played of them in the Beta, I didnt want to grind one all the way to 80.

I'll probably (if I am still playing) focus on my rogue. Get him to 80, then worry about a DK. Tons of fun though for those first few quests.

What is Icehud?

It basically takes your health/mana/energy/rage bars (and that of anything you target) and puts them in semi-circular arcs right around your toon. Essentially it puts a whole lot of info right in one small area, so you don't have to look several places for it as you would have to with the default UI.

I loved getting infected in Silvermoon and then heading to the auction house. Infecting every one of the auctioneers. Shatt is horrible cuz everyone keeps killing off the flight master etc. but it's a pretty fun event. (and you can still hit 70 easily w/ the event going on)

EDIT: so I've just seen that WoW has reached the 11 million subscriber mark. This is simply amazing, up from around 10.7? Million 6 months ago. This estimates, at $15/mo, to $165 million/mo incoming to Blizzard! Or, $1.98 Billion per year! Geezuz that's crazy. . .

Nah, its mostly because I have bought: Spore, Saints Row 2, SOCOM:Confrontation, Fable II, Fallout 3 and soon to have Left 4 Dead in the last 2 months.

I hadnt planned on playing a DK... but hell man once I got started on it, there was no going back. The Instance type of questing you do is pretty nice, the story line is pretty twisted also. I highly recommend you try out the starting zone, they did a bad ass job with it!

You can group in almost all of the quests, however you and the rest of the party will need to be on the same quest line. If one person isnt, they wont be able to see you.

I played through the DK starting area in beta. Very well done. It really makes you feel apart of the story. As for live I'm pushing my paladin through Borean Tundra at the moment!

That is pretty crazy. And yes, had to be a phukking Blood elf huh? Most I'd seen was the night/morning of it's release, around 3am or so someone on the server got the first to reach tradeskill to 450 achievement (skinning of course). Lvl 80 already. .holy damn. . .

I've played this a bit now and played the DK through the missions. . .those are very cool and quite refreshing quests! They actually start to FEEl epic. And since they so smoothly transfer you between the normal world w/ all of the other players to an almost "instance" type gameplay throughout it really adds to the feeling of being in the game. I'm very impressed!

it was definitely epic however my favorite quest was the flying seige quest. To make a section of WoW More of an action game in a sense, being able to actually dodge balista bolts was pretty kewl.

76 right now, halfway to 77. I want my cold weather flying like now. My server kept crashing last night so I wasn't able to finish the level. Make sure you all hit up Grizzly Hills when you make your way into Northrend. It has been one of the most fun areas to quest in.

I took a day off from leveling to work on mining and Jewelcrafting. I'm happy to say it paid off because I earned the achievement for Realm First 450 Jewelcrafter on my server. ^_^

Make sure that if you're playing you log in today for your WoW 4th Anniversary Achievement and while you're in, don't forget to check the mail and grab yourself up your little Blizzard Bear Vanity pet. Accountbound, so you can send it to any new characters you create at a later date. (On the same server)

Got my DK almost to 76 and gotta say I'm having more fun in WoW than I thought possible after starting, stopping, starting again several times since day 1. Finished all the quests in Tundra, Fjord and Dragonblight and now headed into Grizzly Hills.
Pretty funny getting into a group as a tank and having them ask "You sure you can tank it?" then by the end of the instance they're saying "Hot damn DKs can TANK!".. course, I'm spec'd for tanking and have a bag set aside for tanking gear..

Gonna be sorta screwed trying to get to 80 without a flying mount. Maybe need to get my 70 priest miner/herb into Northrend for some mat farming to make some cash. Tough to do that boring stuff while having fun leveling the DK though.

If you stick with the quests that are given to you as you progress, they'll actually lead you to the next areas.

If you dont' have them already, sounds like you're ready for some MODs. They're seriously REQUIRED if you're playing this game much at all. I've found that the Curse client seems to be the best out now for organizing/updating the Mods as new ones are released.

Some of the actual mods that I enable in "addons" on my character select screen once installing curse are as follows, and note that I might use others that I'm not listing. These are just what I can think of offhand.

Questhelper (a MUST if you're gathering lots of quests and don't want to make a lot of back and forth trekking)

Cartographer (Get the normal 2.x version from curse, not the new 3.x, it seems buggy and screws with questhelper for the time being) This gives you coordinates on your map again, as well as other handy bits.

Auctioneer (the standard mod for everyone that ever uses the Auction house)

Gatherer (Your best friend if you are to do ANY of the gathering tradeskills)

Fishingbuddy (excellent outfit switcher, information, easycast/etc for fishing. a MUST)

Equipcompare (So you don't have to have a notebook next to you to compare what you're buying/looting with what you've already got equipped)

Enchantrix (Excellent information on your loot/etc. What it'll turn into if disenchanting/etc, values and more

and, I KNOW there are many I'm forgetting so feel free to add any more, anyone.

The thing about Curse, is that it runs in the background on your computer. Even if WoW is not running. It keeps mods updated, starts up and keeps things organized while you run WoW and I've found it just to be the smoothest easiest way to make things work, and stay working.

I used to use Cosmos for everything, but they've recently stated that they're no longer keeping things updated. (and was a LITTLE less user-friendly)

Once you get Cosmos, primarily Questhelper I think you'll easily see where to go next. It even prioritizes to minimize travel-time, tells you how long you've left when flying flightpaths, and gives waypoints and little arrows to follow on your minimap or even as an HUD.

If you stick with the quests that are given to you as you progress, they'll actually lead you to the next areas.

If you dont' have them already, sounds like you're ready for some MODs. They're seriously REQUIRED if you're playing this game much at all. I've found that the Curse client seems to be the best out now for organizing/updating the Mods as new ones are released.

Some of the actual mods that I enable in "addons" on my character select screen once installing curse are as follows, and note that I might use others that I'm not listing. These are just what I can think of offhand.

Questhelper (a MUST if you're gathering lots of quests and don't want to make a lot of back and forth trekking)

Cartographer (Get the normal 2.x version from curse, not the new 3.x, it seems buggy and screws with questhelper for the time being) This gives you coordinates on your map again, as well as other handy bits.

Auctioneer (the standard mod for everyone that ever uses the Auction house)

Gatherer (Your best friend if you are to do ANY of the gathering tradeskills)

Fishingbuddy (excellent outfit switcher, information, easycast/etc for fishing. a MUST)

Equipcompare (So you don't have to have a notebook next to you to compare what you're buying/looting with what you've already got equipped)

Enchantrix (Excellent information on your loot/etc. What it'll turn into if disenchanting/etc, values and more

and, I KNOW there are many I'm forgetting so feel free to add any more, anyone.

The thing about Curse, is that it runs in the background on your computer. Even if WoW is not running. It keeps mods updated, starts up and keeps things organized while you run WoW and I've found it just to be the smoothest easiest way to make things work, and stay working.

I used to use Cosmos for everything, but they've recently stated that they're no longer keeping things updated. (and was a LITTLE less user-friendly)

Once you get Cosmos, primarily Questhelper I think you'll easily see where to go next. It even prioritizes to minimize travel-time, tells you how long you've left when flying flightpaths, and gives waypoints and little arrows to follow on your minimap or even as an HUD.


I got my DK to 71 last night and it was easier for my dk then my mage.

Hah I'm with ya there. I loved the DK intro quests, not sure why I didn't continue him (guess 2 other "primaries" are enough for now) but I'm sure I'll get back tohim. He WAS much easier to level. And the new expansion does make it much easier. New, different actually EXCITING quests in Northrend, great exp and money.

The first guy I'd heard to hit 80 (maybe it was posted here) traded off with a friend for nonstop play, to be the first lvl 80. A few on our servers did the same type of thing.

One of my friends that started playing while Kerjack and I were at around 40 (my currently 70 hunter) passed us up and hit 80 in no time. And he was teasing me for how much he thought I was playing. It's insane. (Plus he has another lvl 30 or so now I believe as well)

Hit 79 yesterday with my mage. Got my achievements up to 2000 and I stopped playing Dk's since they are planning a nerf on them soon.

I got my mage up to 77 and my Hunter to 72. Then I decided the game was to much like a job and the x-pac sucks so I traded my account for an Xbox 360.

I'm only running at around 1400-1600 achievement points right now on my 'lock. Then my hunter's at like 800 or so.
