Hollywood knew exactly who they were gonna call. And Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd look like they're stepping back into their Ghostbusting gear alongside costars Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson for a third Ghostbusters movie.

This is either going to completely own or completely be the worst sequel ever. No in between.

They've been saying they were gonna make a 3rd movie for almost 20 years now. I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm just wanting the video game to come out. Been looking forward to that thing for months now.

Harold Ramis is barely recognizable.
He might have to try Fatbusting before he does any Ghostbusting.
Not that Bill and Dan haven't changed a bit too.
I'm afraid it will suck, be over-acted and depend too heavily on Fx.
Crossing fingers just the same.

Aykroyd said he's going to try and get Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen on board to help with the writing, so we'll see how that goes.

The game's been postponed indefinitely, though. They're still looking for a publisher.

He's basically just saying what he'd heard...aka rumor. I mean, I could say right now I was writing a script for Ghostbusters 3. Doesn't mean shit.
The two guys from the Office have actually been hired. If Rogen and Apatow were writing something (it wouldn't surprise me if they were), it was before this deal was made between the two Office scribes, and Columbia.

I'm really surprised Bill Murray's up for it. He's the one that's been holding the whole movie up for all these years--I mean, him and Ghostbusters 2's reception.

Did you miss the part where I said 'real reason'? Secondly, it wasn't because their shit went tits up, it's 'cause of the merger.

Nobody's been signed for this.
No deals will be made with the original cast until the script is ready, but the gross percentage will certainly be an issue. Sony has a standing policy not to allow more than 25% of first dollar gross out the door.http://www.variety.com/VR1117991624.html

NBC’s OFFICE Writers Are Scripting GHOSTBUSTERS III
Sony has hired Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, Emmy-nominated writer-producers on the Steve Carell version of "The Office," to script a "Ghostbusters" sequel that would reunite Venkman, Stanz, Spengler and Zeddemore.
Harold Ramis, who co-wrote the earlier "Ghostbusters" movies and portrayed mold fetishist Egon Spengler in those comedies, is in post-production on next summer's Jack Black period comedy "Year One," which was directed by Ramis from a screenplay by Ramis, Eisenberg and Stupnitsky.
Ramis directed three season-three episodes of "The Office," namely "A Benihana Christmas," "Safety Training" and "Beach Games."
"Office" episodes scripted by Eisenberg and Stupnitsky include "The Fight," "The Secret," "The Convention," "Women's Appreciation," "Dinner Party" and "Job Fair."

Harold Ramis confirms 'Ghostbusters III'
http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_popmachine/images/2008/09/05/ramis.jpg (http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/05/ramis.jpg) I just received this e-mail from Harold Ramis confirming the forward progress on a third "Ghostbusters" movie (as mentioned earlier here (http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_popmachine/2008/09/ghostbusters-ii.html)), with Judd Apatow, some of his regular actors and perhaps Bill Murray involved:http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_popmachine/images/2008/09/05/ramisb.jpg (http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/05/ramisb.jpg)
"yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my year one writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. judd apatow is co-producing year one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1045778/) and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. not much else to say at this point. everyone is confident a decent script can be written and i guess we'll take it from there.
best,
harold
OK, so we're picturing Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson showing the ghost-busting ropes to Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco and Michael Cera. (Ramis already memorably and warmly played Rogen's dad in "Knocked Up.") Maybe Jason Segel or Craig Robinson (http:///)fit in there somewhere.
Is this a "Ghostbusters" you'd want to call?

How about Robert Downey Jr. in some capacity? I could see him in a Venkman-like role.
If we stick with the whole Apatow crew, it could look something like this..
Venkman > Jason Segel/Paul Rudd
Egon > Bill Hader
Ray > Seth Rogen
Winston > Craig Robinson
Then throw in McLovin for Louis and say...I dunno...Zooey Deschanel as the leading lady (assuming she agrees to show her tits in some capacity)

I just don't want them to fuck it up. The originals are classics that still hold up well today. Apatow and company don't scare me but I think this will be the first time they take on a property not wholly their own.
