For me it is football. It is action packed, the crowd noise is something to be in awe of, and it lasts between 3 and 4 hours, so you tend to get your money's worth.

Your thoughts?

I love football, it is my favorite sport, but the last few Dallas Stars games I have gone to have made me a live hockey fan. The game is fast paced, the fans are fucking nuts and it is an all around good time.

Knowing nothing about the game, isn't there only like 1 hour of actual play?

Knowing nothing about the game, isn't there only like 1 hour of actual play?
yes, with four 15 minute quarters.

with that said, almost every game lasts between 3 and 4 hours due to times out, halftime, and game-clock stoppage.

Yes, but you've got to get in 2 to 3 hours of commercials.
There aren't any tv commericals if you're at a live game, dum dum.

unless you count the ads on the jumbo tron.

Soccer and hockey are better live. Basketball is better live because I hate the camera angles they use. Directors need to learn how to set angles for 21st century TVs. Football is better on TV b/c of instant replay and all the awesome camera angles. But being there live is kinda like a being baseball game, it's more about the experience and going to the game than it is about watching the game. Basketball is the best because there's a lot of scoring and action and things can also come down to the wire.

Yeah, I know they don't show the commercials live. They stand around waiting for some guy with a tv to tell them they can start playing again.
well yeah... why didn't you just say that instead?

Yeah, I know they don't show the commercials live. They stand around waiting for some guy with a tv to tell them they can start playing again.

Yeah, there's a lot of waiting. That's where the beer comes in. Football is too comlpex a sport to truely understand live. If you're at the game, you dont really realize what's going on. You get the general idea, but there's a lot of shit behind the scenes that make the game cool and it's tough to focus on those when you're basically partying in a staduim.

Three years ago I took my wife to her first hockey game. My Flyers beat the Hurricanes but she had an awesome time. She now likes the Hurricanes but only because of Brind Amour. We try to go to atleast 3 or 4 games each year.

Boxing by far. Even though I'm not a hockey fan, I really enjoyed seeing the couple St. Louis Blue's games I was lucky enough to go to. The first time was during the Shanahan/Hull days and they put on a good show.

When I was a kid in South Jersey, there was a fighter named Mike Rossman who was supposed to be the next big fighter out of Philly. I got to see a lot of golden gloves fights but not any pro bouts. I do remember going to a lot of Flyers Games back in the days of The Broad Street Bullies. Like the old saying goes " I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out. " .

I concur with this. I'm a huge baseball fan, I played it for 13 years and still play as much as possible, so going to a game is just therapeutic for me... but I went to two Stars games last year (one regular season, one quadruple OT Game 6 vs SJ) and I've never, ever been more sore/hoarse/tired than I have after. Great shit.

With hockey, the game is more entertaining and the atmosphere during the actual game is amazing.

However, on the whole, I think football takes the cake for the greater experience overall. There's nothing like road trippin to a game, tailgating, and then experiencing the game live.

I will almost say it surpasses watching a live soccer game.

Mustard

NASCAR, golf, bowling, porn, they all fall under the "Other/Write-In" option.

The reason I didn't give them their own option was because they would garner few, if any, votes. Though in hindsight I figured that basketball would have more votes...

Football is awful live. You people need to separate football the game where there's one little clump of action that is frequently really far away from you and football the event (tailgating and all that shit).

In America we know how to understand questions as they are given and we also have a name for people who consider modes of transport to be sport...we call them rednecks.

I'm not saying that gulping popcorn and guzzling beer on a sport stadium isn't fun – but that doesn't constitute a sport. Check a dictionary, tard.

OK so 70 other replies took it one way but you're right. Experiencing a sport live is exactly the same as playing it in the back yard with friends. Everybody else is wrong.

NHRA Top Fuel drag racing.

The noise and speed of those cars is unreal and is NOTHING like watching it on TV. When the light turns green your vision blurs and you feel pressure on your chest as 8,000 HP comes alive. 4.5 seconds later the dragster is going 340 MPH (530 KMH) and crossing the finish line. The 0 to 100 MPH is under 1 second.

Keep in mind that I can't watch more than a hour of it on TV, but I can spend an entire weekend at the track watching these things fly down the drag strip and never once be bored.
