I'm not sure if I should be starting a new thread for this, but it's actually pissing me off tonight so maybe someone here can at least solve this for me.

So, I wanted to play some GTA San Andreas again and started up a new game, after I played for about an hour I go to save it it tells me that the save has failed and to check the memory card. This seemed strange since I've never had a problem before, so I checked to see if I had space, and I did. I reset it and tried to save after the first mission this time, again same problem. I even threw in Vice City and saved a new game without any problems.

I'm just wondering if it is any of these things, because it is all I can come up with ...

- I just need a new memory card.

- The disc somehow is now flawed (seems unlikely, but maybe)

- There is some little blue boxes of corrupted data on the card, is that possibly causing the problem?

- none of the above?

It just seemed like an odd problem to have spring up when there is space and no other game seems to be doing this.

Just some other things you may want to check out:

-Trying the memory card in both slots

-Trying a different memory card as you suggested

-Getting rid of that corrupt data, it may prevent you from making any new saves for whatever reason.

-Make sure no dust is in the memory card slots, probably wont be but you never know.

I used to have a memory card that was really particular about when it decided to recognize itself in my console. It didn't sit so well in the slot for some reason and you had to slightly adjust it, move it a little to get it to read the data. But as you said, other games you play don't seem to have this problem..

I've been trying to dig up a definitive answer, but there doesn't seem to be one I can lock onto. If you're able also, try using a friend's ps2 to save, though this may not be necessary since you can save other games perfectly fine. I doubt it would be the disc, especially if you've played it in the past. It's most likely due to the memory card.
