MILWAUKEE — MillerCoors LLC says goodbye to Zima.
The joint venture between SABMiller's U.S. unit and Molson Coors Brewing Co. told distributors in a letter Monday that production of the malt liquor beverage was discontinued as of Oct. 10.
Chief Marketing Officer Andy England says the decision was due to weakness in the "malternative" segment and declining consumer interest.
He says distributors can get remaining Zima inventories most likely through December.
Distributors are being asked to put products from caffeinated alcoholic beverage Sparks on retail store shelves to make up for Zima's absence.
The brand came to the joint venture from Molson Coors, maker of Coors Light and Keystone.

My first "drink" at 15 was a Zima...with a Jolly Rancher in it. I stole it from my cousin at a family get together.
I still feel gay to this day, which is why you should wait until 18 to make any alcoholic decisions...your choices can come back to haunt you forever...

Sparks is like a step down to Zima. It doesn't come in that cool clear bottle, it comes in a damn Steel Reserve can. I mean Red Bull is cool looking because it comes in a smaller version of a can, but who's going to walk around in bar with the equivalent of two soda cans in one? Don't discontinue Zima, do what Coke and Pepsi did and add different flavors: Zima Lime, Zima Coconut, and Cherry Zima.

I used to drink this and "Purple passion" and even something like cough syrup called "Cysco"?? (sp??) anyway I'm not like an old time hard core drunk so Zima did it's job of letting me drink 7-upish flavored "alcohol" and not getting me to drunked up. I would just pretend to be drunk so when I was playing stone face I'd have an excuse of being a slut.

Around where I live, construction workers drink it during their lunch. You'd think that drinking a malt beverage would mess you up for the rest of the work day, but their foremen don't say anything. Wouldn't that make you feel a little unsafe especially if they were building you a new house or renovating your current one?
