what are the chances of him being assassinated. Obviously his race and religion make him a prime target for certain demographics of people (ie Racists Fundamentalist). Does this make him a higher risk? While only 4 out of the 20 presidential assassinations have resulted in success; is this motive greater than any we have ever seen? Of those assassination attempts, it seems that lack of planning, nerves, and/or bad aim have resulted in the failure of the assassination. While we may have higher security levels and have advance technology to protect the president, the proverbial assassin is also making those advances.
Obama is the embodiment of everything that ignorant American's despise (not calling America ignorant but ignorant individuals). Will this be the spark that leads to the assassination of a president? After all, racism and fundamentalism have been igniting conflict for centuries, what's to stop it now.
Or, have we reached a time when presidential assassinations are a thing of the past. Is our security too prepared, too vigilant for another attempt?

I think it is possible but pray it doesn't happen. Yes, I think he is possibly the biggest target any US president has had, but I am just hoping that the secret service fucking does their job. To have him not elected, to have something happen to him either before or after he takes office, would be such a total disappoint to me, and doubtless many others.
And I just really hope and wish and pray that he doesn't pussy out like Gore, and if this election as well ends up contesting any total that doesn't end up with him in office.
The only thing more retarded than this thread is the first response. Obama will not have more of a target on him than any other prez.

IDK, I've seen a lot more hate for Bush these last 8 years than I have seen for Obama by any racists. To his credit, he's only half black and no, he is not a Arab Muslim terrorist.
Then again, Bush had Cheney. It was sort of his insurance plan against assassins.
Obama has Biden? Biden seems like a more liberal arrogant asshole than Obama, but at least he's not black. At worst I think we might see an attempt.

I am voting for McCain.....and I think if Obama wins, there is a high probablity that an attempt will be made on his life, due to the color of his skin. It is an embarrassing reality as an American. All the polls say he is on top, but I also think that certain non-blacks who have supported him along the way, won't be able to pull the lever at the moment of truth, due to his race. This is embarrassing as well.

Let me retract and say that I don't think Obama is a Muslim, but he does have roots, and may hold onto to some of those beliefs. We do not know that.
I think Obama needs to get as far away from Wright as he can, as does anyone else who attends that church. Wright is an A-1 racist!!!
I am a McCain/Palin fan, but I have come to respect Obama more and more throughout the campaign.
