Boy, schools are sooo politically correct these days. You can't do anything. C'mon, they're just kids. What's the big deal? [/sarcasm]
Mo. sixth-graders face discipline for 'Hit a Jew Day'
Several sixth-graders from suburban St. Louis are being disciplined for creating "Hit a Jew Day" and then hitting Jewish classmates.
Four or five students at Parkway West Middle School in Chesterfield could be suspended and undergo counseling for last week's incident, school officials told the Associated Press. Others who taunted Jewish students or encouraged others to participate face lesser punishment.
Officials said fewer than 10 of the school's 35 Jewish students were hit. One was slapped in the face and the others were hit mostly on the back of their shoulders.
"There is a mix of sadness and outrage," said district spokesman Paul Tandy. "The concern is a lot of kids knew about it and they didn't take action or say anything."
AP explains:
It began with an unofficial "Spirit Week" among sixth-graders that started harmlessly enough with a "Hug a Friend Day." Then there was "High Five Day."
Soon, though, the days moved from friendly to silly. Next there was "Hit a Tall Person Day" and, finally, "Hit a Jew Day."
Principal Linda Lelonek told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch she learned about the incidents Monday and called an assembly Tuesday morning.
"What's tomorrow going to be? 'Hit A Principal Day?'" she asked.
Karen Aroesty, St. Louis regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, said this was more than a case of bullying. Her group is meeting tomorrow with district leaders.
"It is shocking and distressing to see anti-Semitism acted out by middle school students," Aroesty said a statement. "Our schools and schoolyards are places where respect and understanding should be the norm. We appreciate that administrators are responding swiftly and look forward to working with Parkway West Middle School to turn these incidents into teachable moments that will resonate both in the classroom and at home."
Later in the school year the the sixth-graders will be studying the Holocaust.
"It's going to be a little more meaningful this year than it's ever been before," Lelonek said.Link (http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/10/mo-sixth-grader.html)
There's no word yet on whether the kids all wore brown shirts.

Wow, 10 out of 35 students Jewish students involved. I don't even remember having 5 Jewish student in my school. It probably didn't help with the fact that I went to private school. And why did they have a problem with tall people?
Chesterfield is one of the richest suburbs of St. Louis and pretty much every person I ever came in contact with who lived there was a total asshole rich prick that thought they were better than anyone else. This really doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me is that there's only 35 jews in that school. It's pretty large.

If they didn't want to get hit then they shouldn't have been Jews.

Oct 24, 5:18 AM (ET)By JIM SALTERST. LOUIS (AP) - At least four students from a suburban St. Louis middle school face punishment for allegedly hitting Jewish classmates during what they called "Hit a Jew Day."
The incident happened last week at Parkway West Middle School in Chesterfield.
District officials said Thursday they believe that fewer than 10 children of the district's 35 Jewish students were struck.
District spokesman Paul Tandy said that in most cases, the students were hit on the back of their shoulders but one student was slapped in the face.
District officials believe a handful of children were directly involved. Those who actually struck classmates could face suspension and required counseling, Tandy said. Others who weren't directly involved but taunted Jewish students or egged on classmates could face lesser penalties.
"There is a mix of sadness and outrage," Tandy said. "The concern is a lot of kids knew about it and they didn't take action or say anything."
Karen Aroesty, St. Louis regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, said this was more than a case of bullying. Officials from the group will meet Friday with district leaders to discuss the matter.

Claydon and UNC suck balls. Probably each others. Will-Kill, you can join their party.
In addition, the principal's comment:
"What's tomorrow going to be? 'Hit A Principal Day?'" she asked.is pretty classic. Not like she's outraged that blatant acts simulating hate crimes are happening on her campus, but oh gosh, what if it was 'hit the principal day? then we'd REALLLy have something to be worried about.

Haha, in my middle school we had one day where we picked up our one jewish friend and called it Jew Toss, about five of us threw him in the air and he fell down and broke his collarbone. It was pretty funny, we werent anti-semetic, we were just dumb kids. Dude broke his collarbone and he didn't go whining to principal and there was no story. Whata bunch of pussies.

I’m considering to neg you into oblivion – in a fine anglo-saxon tradition of bullying of the weakest one, expecting from the rest to join me having fun.
Shhh, for sure you aren’t such a pussy to report me to admins? You know, I’m just trying to fit in, to be popular.

Why did hit a jew day cause more trauma than hit a tall person day? Tall people should riot.
Snatch

Ya, so, it's cool to hit people if they're tall, but if they're jewish they're anti-semetic...
That makes any sense whatsoever.
It's just asshole kids being fucking assholes. They're not bigots, because they feel like being assholes. They were punching them on the shoulder, not in the fucking face.

You guys never celebrated Hit a Jew Day?
Ya, so, it's cool to hit people if they're tall, but if they're jewish they're anti-semetic...I don't think that “hit a tall person” was all that popular, since taller than you might coincide with stronger than you.
It seems that typical WASP brats tend to bully only weaker and outnumbered ones. Even to confront someone equal to himself (without gun) would be to much to expect from a pussy.

We were like 11, there was no "weakest one" and we weren't bullying anyone, kid was our friend, its not like we targeted some jewish kid and threw him in the air, he wanted to see how high we could get him too, but then got twisted and landed weird.
And what the fuck do I care about my reputation on an internet forum? Go ahead and keep negging me if it makes you feel better, just remember that you're the one that keeps bringing up your conceptions that jewish people are weaker and can't run too fast in case they got hot and their sweat fogs up their glashes.
In your case I wouldn’t brag about how funny it was to broke someone’s bone by bullying him and then cry about being negged – what doesn’t mean anything to you at all, of course
As opposed to Jews who are all squirmy hypochondriacs?Hm, intehesting concept.
Call me prejudiced, but I guess that chances that you'd get hit back by a random person taller than you are higher than being hit back by a random Jew... or any random member of any kind of minority.
Sorry for coming in late on this one but how the hell did this even make it past "Hug a Friend Day"? In this day and age, that could have been considered sexual harassment.
My best friend's a jew and he laughed. I think this is now green lit to become a national holiday.
