October 26th- METALLICA!!!!!!!!
I fucking hate you that your show is so soon. I've gotta wait till 2009. Though, I get Machine Head 3 times, so it's not a total loss. I would have loved them to hit Milwaukee when they hit Des Moines the first part to see Down, but I understand logistics and why Chicago and Milwaukee are always on the same part of a leg.

A bit much, no?
When it's your favorite band, it's understandable (as long as they play a different set). I've seen Metallica and U2 both multiple times in a few days.

08-14-2008, 07:47 PM
I fucking love QOTSA, but I think 4 times in 4 days would be overkill
Maybe you need a more established band. For example, I guess for a band like Metallica, U2, Bon Jovi, DMB, etc. that practically never play the same show twice, it would work (I'd see all 4 of those 4 nights in a row if I had the money and they ever did 4 straight shows). I adore Korn, but would never see them 4 times in a row. Come to think of it, I've never seen them more than twice on the same tour, and that hasn't been in about 5 years.

Or like Incubus....another band I love, they have like 7 albums, and I've seen them probably 10 times. I think I've heard them play one song from their first album one time. They'll play like 60% songs of their newest with a smatter of other hits. It's fucking aggravating
s0bv1ou5lyd3sprt
08-14-2008, 07:55 PM
It's not a tour that I am seeing 4 days in a row. Coheed is doing a 4 day show in New York and then in LA. Each day they are playing an album to go along with the story line behind the books. Different backgrounds and shit all to go along with the books. It's going to be awesome.
Edit: Also includes an acoustic performance pre-night 4.

A lot of times, when a band was with an inde or another label their first album or two, they don't play any of those songs live now that they're with a major label. My guess is a major label might now want them playing what they don't control. Chevelle hasn't played a fucking thing of their first album since about 2002.

happened to find this in the other concert thread....weird
Incubus a few months back.
They were incredible. Played a good variety of their music. Pity they didn't play anything from their first two albums. Their closing song was played incredibly. Aqueous Transmission. Never thought much for that song but that way they played it live was breathtaking.
Openers Saosin sucked pretty badly live though...And they played for an hour. Was expecting more from what I heard in their self-titled debut.
Nothing from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is a fucking travesty to a long time fan like myself and that's the shit that pisses me off

So I'm back from the show, and it was fuckin sick. They played every song from In Rainbows, as well as some oldies I didn't expect (ie Talk Show Host).
I will admit that they seemed to stay away from the more recognizable songs, but the stuff they chose instead was fantastic.

Got tickets for Hold Steady, Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes and Ben Folds in the autumn. Looking forward to them a lot, my 4th Ben Folds gig and he is always great fun.

That is the problem, saw them for the first time at the London leg of this tour, and though they are an amazing band, everything is tight as hell and sounds brilliant, I like the hits and they didn't give many up.
I like the first 3 albums (when they were more rocky and poppy) a lot more than the last 4, and that isn't what they are playing at the moment.
If you do go to see them listen to In Rainbows a lot firsthand, it is actually really good, there just aren't that many choruses.

While I was picking up a mold in Detroit yesterday I noticed the marquee for the DTE music theater in Auburn Hills said that Steely Dan was playing that night. I just kind of laughed because I didn't even think they were still together. Hell, I would have definitely gone to see them if I had known sooner. Steely Dan has some kick ass tunes.

Saw Weezer in Lowell, MA last night and they were fucking awesome. They did all their old songs and their new stuff is awesome too. Great entertainers. Angels and Airwaves opened up for them and they were kind of sucky. All their songs sound the same and Tom Delonge just doesn't bust out. He's got a great voice but he aint' using it. Delonge came out and sang the "Sweater" song with Weezer which was cool. No mention of Travis.

Trapt is the reason to go that show mainly as it is. I'll probably be at a bar by 9:30. Then again, it is the Jager Tour, I'll have to see who's working the show that night. If I know anyone, I might just stay and drink.
