The Rogers Picnic in Toronto was pouring all day, but the music was great. City and Color, Tokyo Police Club and Animal Collective were all great. 7/10

Incubus a few months back.
They were incredible. Played a good variety of their music. Pity they didn't play anything from their first two albums. Their closing song was played incredibly. Aqueous Transmission. Never thought much for that song but that way they played it live was breathtaking.
Openers Saosin sucked pretty badly live though...And they played for an hour. Was expecting more from what I heard in their self-titled debut.

I saw John Mayer about two weeks ago. His pop songs are lame but he's an excellent guitar player. His concerts are always so entertaining. He did a cover of Freefalling and a blues song called "Mercy." I forgot the other covers he did because I was too busy staring at his sexy body. I saw him in Houston so it was like 100 degrees outside so John performed sans a shirt. It was so hot! Plus, his pants were so low I even saw his coinslot a few times.

Last night saw Envy on the Coast, The Sleeping, Secret Lives of the Free Masons, and The Gay Blades. Had free tickets so it was definitely worth it. Emarosa was also on the tour flyer, but aren't on the tour. It was a little disappointing, being that I wanted to see them with their new lead singer, Johnny from Dance Gavin Dance. I missed the Gay Blades, but heard they were really good. I'll have to download to find out. Secret Lives of the Free Masons were surprisingly pretty good. I have an early cd of theirs which is ok, but the vocals are just off. Worth checking out though.
It was cool to see The Sleeping. They took some time off and have now come back with a new guitarist and keyboard player that fit in really nice. About 3 summers ago, I wasn't living in my apartment so I didn't have my computer, so The Sleeping cd was the only one I had all summer. I'm not sure if I just got sick of it or what, but I haven't listened to that cd since. It's ok, but they put on a really good live show. Played 2 new songs as well which were better than what was on the cd.
Envy on the Coast was awesome. It's my third time seeing them now and they are great live. I was a little disappointed they didn't play any new songs, but was still great. It was a short set list, but they managed to pack in a lot, plus they saved a lot of time to hang out with everyone afterwards which was cool.

One of the local radio stations puts on a festival type show every year. Last year it was, Chevelle, Flyleaf,Fuel, and a local band Parmelee,on the main stage. Parmelee and Fuel rocked out, but I wasn't really impressed with the other two.

311 and Snoop last month. Snoop's posse got arrested that day, but he was still decent. I am still wondering why he did "jump around" by house of pain. 311 is fucking amazing, my 10th time seeing them and that was one of the best.

Last concert I saw was Tool in Hartford, about a year and a half ago.
Tool- 10/10
The other bands that opened for Tool- 0/10
The T-shirt I got- 8/10
The fact that I spilled something on that shirt and had to throw it away- 0/10
Those Tool shirts are also ridiculously expensive. Not even the Stones charge that much. That said, I of course bought a Tool shirt on impulse. Then felt bad the next day.

Saw radiohead in may in ATL. obviously a great show. never realized how intense of a song "optimistic" was, until i saw it live. (maybe it was b/c i was stoned). but it was also great b/c it was the first time of the tour that they busted out "paranoid android"....the crowd blew loads in unison. i really fell in love with "house of cards" though.

Radiohead - Arenes de Nimes, France : 20/10 Fucking great sat on the top of a roman ampi-theatre smoking a huge spliff listening to Radiohead
Creamfields - Andalucia, Spain : Best set was - The Chemical Brothers : 10/10 Right next to the beach in the south of spain during a 12 hour non stop electro festival totally off my head watching The Chemical brothers with weirdo laser drawn humans dancing on the stage, great stuff.

Coldplay at The Forum last month was seriously the best concert I've been to so far. They played a lot of songs and all the things they did with the stages were awesome. I though it was really awesome when they went into the top of the Arena and played a stripped down version of "Yellow."
10/10. I am following the rules haha

I didn't even know this was here. Tom Petty at the Gorge. Great show, Steve Winwood opened and was fantastic. Of course Tom rocked the motherfucker.
The concert gets a 10/10, but getting out of the parking lot took over an hour and I'm a very impatient man. So..

My band recently opened for The Pink Spiders, and going into it I wasn't particularly excited about the idea of watching them. But, they actually are very entertaining live even if you don't like their dreadfully poppy sound.
However, I guess they broke up 2 weeks after that show. Bummer.

Linkin Park
This was my 8th Linkin park show, and they continue to impress live. Good setlist (better than last year) and in support of an album I'm not too fond of. They pulled the stuff of better this time. Chris Cornell came out to sing on "Crawling" which was pretty awesome. Simple stage set which was nice because it doesn't take away from the performance. Say what you will, and I know it's cool to hate on LP, but for a "newer" band, they are pretty great live.
7/10
Chris Cornell
The co-headliner and he was awesome. He sounded great, better than when I saw him twice with Audioslave. His live band is pretty good. He played a nice mix of solo, Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog stuff. His new songs are surprisingly good for being Timbaland influenced. "Black Hole Sun", "Spoonman" and "Hunger Strike" with Chester Bennington were great.
8/10
The Bravery
Not bad, not great. They didn't really fit the bill.
6/10
Ashes Divide
The surprise of the day. For not having much material, and simple being know as "the band with that guy from A Perfect Circle", they did well with the time they had.
7/10
Street Drum Corps
Boring. They wish they were the Blue Man Group.
3/10
Atreyu
I've know seen this band at various touring festivals 5 times now. Very repetitive. I like them in small amounts, and not so much live.
6/10
10 Years
Another band I've seen a few times opening for other bands. The new songs are great live. Not a lot of time, and they made the most of it.
7/10
Hawthorne Heights
Another band that didn't really fit. Not bad, not great. This was the first time I've seen them without Casey (RIP). Pretty good.
6/10
Armor For Sleep
I don't get it. Most of the crowd over 15 didn't either.
3/10
Overall, a fun show. I ended up selling my 2 pit tickets, and then had a voucher for a $6 lawn ticket. So good show, and I made some money since none of my friends wanted to go. This year beat the crap out of last year's PR bill.

Radiohead last night
Liars opened but we didnt get there until the closing song of their set unfortunately. the plus side is that their last song was "plaster casts of everything" which is my fave off the album.
radiohead were brilliant. i havent seen them for 7 years and it was worth the wait to see them again. one of the best live sets ive ever seen and i go to a lot of shows.

went to this last night (8-24), missed testament, motorhead didnt sound good. the sound generaly sucks at verizon. and seeing as LEmmy eats 4 packs of cigs for breakfast a day, didnt help.
heaven and hell was actually pretty good. except every song seems like it was 10 inutes long.
judas priest was decent. not the best ive seen from them. but decent.
all in all, on a scale of 0-5(5 being the best) i would give the METAL MASTERS TOUR a 2.5

Saw the Hoodoo Guru's tonight, not a band i listen to very often but i can say i was impressed with their live show. For a bunch of old guys they just put on a slick show and even though i didn't know a lot of the songs i had a really good night. I give it a 3.5/5, and i'm sure if i was actually a fan of their music it would be higher
last concert i saw was widespread panic about 10 years ago... good show

TV on the Radio last night
not sure who the opening band were but the singer had a really whiney voice. they were okay, but TVOTR were great. played new stuff but plenty from the first two albums too - definitely glad i ended up getting tickets beforehand. the biggest downside was the extremely drunk chick standing (well, trying to) in front of us since we sat in the balcony... why get balcony seats if you plan on standing and attempting to dance? oh well. 7/10

The Black Keys couple of month ago. For just a guitarist and drummer, they fucking rock. The guitarist-vocalist guitar work is so thick. The opening band for them was the buffalo killers, who were pretty good too. They have a 70s rock sound.

Common at Stubbs in Austin
great great show.
Took a while for him to come out though but it was well worth it.
He played alot of his newer material but didn't give song names so I'm still not sure if it's gonna be on his next album or if he was just freestyling over other beats.

Mindless Self Indulgence
i've been listening to these guys more and more over the past few months, and when the opportunity came to see them, then why not? there were two opening bands that i didn't really care for, some band with a chick for a lead singer and the other one had a long haired blonde dude on keyboards. MSI put on a pretty good show, lots of energy and tons of 15 year old rave chicks (which was not a plus, imo). they played most of the tracks from the new album that i wanted to hear and plus a few classics. one of the biggest pluses for me was their hot ass bassist in her "harry potter schoolgirl" look. i would definitely say this show was worth the 20ish bucks per ticket.

Estelle/The Roots/Gym Class Heroes - Estelle really surprised me she was really good having only one big single on the charts. Good stage presence. The Roots crew was unreal. This was either the second or third time I had seen them and they did not disappoint. They were the reason I went to this show to begin with. Gym Class Heroes were pretty good. Lead man got the audience involved alot. All acts were plugging Obama like whoa though. Awesome show overall. 4.7/5
Chester French/N.E.R.D./Common - Opener Chester French were an odd crew. The guitarist and singer supposedly tracked down Pharrell's music supervisor for Star Trak (his label) and get him their demo. They are the newest group to be a part of Star Trak but I'm not sure they will get anywhere near as famous as Pharrell unless he has something to do with them getting big. N.E.R.D. were solid and brought some fly ladies onto the stage during "Everybody Nose". Common put on a show. He was crazy good and I had never seen him before. Totally blew expectations out of the water. He even freestyled about my buddy who I was with holding his phone trying to snap pictures. Good stuff 4.3/5......Lupe Fiasco tonight. Pretty pumped to see this dude for the first time.

Opeth/High on Fire/Baroness:
Didn't catch Baroness because I was standing in line.
High on Fire played a really energy filled show but was mixed very poorly. The bass was wayyyyyyy too loud and the vocals weren't audible.
Opeth was bloody amazing. They played at least 1 track from every album except for Orchid. The pit was very energetic but not overly violent.

I could really go on for hours about the Neverender show, but I'm still tired as hell from it and don't feel like typing at all. Night 1 as I said was great. The Color Fred opened and he did really well. Told some stories about the early days of Coheed and played a lot of Braking Pangea stuff. Then it was awesome to hear all of Second Stage Turbine Blade live. They encored with the first songs off each of the following albums.
Night 2 started with Mike (bassist) just talking for about 20 minutes about the band. Got a lot of insight and some funny stories. In Keeping Secrets was probably my favorite day. Crowd was intense and Coheed played really well. Forget the exact encores, but it was just 3 random Coheed songs.
Night 3 had was suppose to be Matt Pinfield, who signed Coheed in 2001, was suppose to give a talk. He couldn't make it, so Richard Christie of the Howard Stern spoke about his love and the greatness of the band, also telling us about his infamous diaper story. This was the craziest crowd night in my opinion. And The Final Cut live was rediculous. Lasted about 20 minutes and I must say, Chris Pennie is a god on drums. Encored with another 3 songs, one being The Trooper by Iron Maiden.
By night 4 is was so damn tired, but it started with a meet and greet, followed by an acoustic performance. It was a mix of songs from all 4 albums. Then Travis (guitar) played some songs off his Davenport Cabinet album. I only gave the album a once threw previous to this (since it just came out a week ago), but he was really good. Coheed then came on and put on a great last night. I love hearing some of their heavier stuff like No World for Tomorrow live. This encore was the best of the 4 nights. Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule) came out and they played I Shall be Released, followed by what was probably the best version of Welcome Home I have ever heard. And it then ended with Neverender.
This whole thing was fucking amazing. Best part about it, it was all filmed for a CD/DVD. Can't wait for it to come out. http://www.coheedandcambria.com/neverender/
If you are in the Chicago, LA, or London areas, I highly suggest checking this event out.

My buddy scored free tickets to Lenny Kravitz through work, so I went.
Overall it was good and sounded good. It got pretty slow in the middle but Lenny does have a pretty talented band. They hammered out the trumpet and the sax which I have not seen too much of in better known bands live.
He played most of his hits and was very thankful towards the audience.
If I were a bigger fan I would have loved it and I was generally impressed. If I'd gone with a girl instead of a guy I would have had my world rocked after the show.
The opening band, Thornley, sounded like shit. Ian Thornley can certainly wail but whoever is doing sound check for them should be shot dead.

I just saw Lupe Fiasco last night at an intimate club in LA. It was definitely one of the best concerts that I've ever been to. Aside from me loving his music, the show itself was amazing. His live band was great, and the sound quality was on point. Sometimes when you see a live band play, it sounds muddy and distorted, but it was definitely one of the best, BEST concerts that I've been to.
Also, Hey Champ opened for him - they were recently signed to his label. They were a really good band, with music that I could definitely see playing at parties in the future; great beats and catchy melodies. Definitely look out for them!

i saw diplo and his Mad Decent labelmates at blackcat in DC last night. the opening acts were alright except for a band called No Age. they simply didn't fit in the lineup as most of the stuff being played was electro/trip-hop/hip-hop. i've seen diplo spin at MIA concerts before, but have never seen him do any solo stuff live. he didn't spin as much of his own stuff as i thought he would, although he threw in a couple MIA and santogold tracks. his set went on for a little over an hour and was ridiculous.
Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin TX. Lots of different types of music. I stuck to the punk stage mostly. Krum Bums, Dead Milkmen, Killdozer, Bad Brains and many more. Very awesome 2 day festival.

Just saw NIN last night in Hamilton... first time I have seen them live.

They put on an amazing show. Very Visual. Some very interesting things with lights and light effect... This one thing Trent does is he has a big screen that drops in front of the stage so it covers the entire stage... One it a few times he puts his face like the digital face on the movie The Lawnmowerman... Very sinister looking...
The opening band was a band called Boris... ummmmmmmm, yeah... Go check youtube. There might be a reason there is only like 3 - 4 vids of them on there... They were definatly not my style...

Saw Kanye last night, was a decent show but left with a sense of disappointment. Yea the stage was awesome n the "story" had a decent enough flow. What killed it was the fact that he's not the "brightest star in the universe" nor was it the "greatest show on earth"....zero relevance to real life and no real engaging with the crowd in between songs. He was just in his own world on his lil spaceship....7/10

Last show that I actually went to (I had tickets for a Twilight Singers show about year ago that I had to give away because I had to go out of town for work) was My Morning Jacket at Bogart's in Cincinnati in June of '04. Dr Dog opened and they were a pretty decent jam type band.
Jim James was great as usual. It was their first time playing Bogart's and Jim talked about how it was kind of teenage dream come true because he used to come up from Louisville to watch shows there when he was younger. I liked the show because they played a decent amount of old material (Tennessee Fire & At Dawn stuff) and not much of off It Still Moves or whatever their new CD was at the time.

It was fucking brilliant.
Concern's is the most unique set I've ever seen live, just a dude in a hoody making beautiful noise with knobs, dials, and tape decks. Epic.
My local Symphony Orchestra (that my dad plays viola for) guest starred Leila Josefowicz tonight...
First of all, she is pretty damn attractive (see below). Second of all, she is a fantastic soloist. Tremendous skill and has the power to make the likes of me, who has been to many concerts and seen many big-name classical musicians, stare at her in awe. She dominates the stage, playing her violin in such a way that tells the story visually as it does musically, all while not overpowering the symphony orchestra accompanying her. For any classical music fans out there, if she comes near you, I'd highly recommend dropping in on that concert.
She played Alban Berg's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra: Andante-Allegretto, Allegro-Adagio
For everyone else, yea, I listen to classical music. It comes with the territory when you are raised by two musicians. Bite me.

saw crystal castles for the second time in a year at the music hall of williamsburg on new years. i caught a disgustingly amazing show of theirs in barcelona during the summer and didn't think they'd be able to carry that sort of energy over in a less intimate, larger venue, but i was wrong. alice glass was nothing short of amazing, and hearing some of their new tracks and remixes was pretty cool. hopefully the rumors of them dropping another record in april are true.

I saw Neverset and Sevendust 2/7 and it was sold out in San Antonio. Both put on great shows but Sevendust got the crowd more into it because they are obviously more well known. Sevendust has amazing presence and Morgan Rose is a fucking amazing drummer. He was throwing his sticks off the wall in the middle of a song and would catch it and keep playing.
Lajon was really good except he always does this weird semi-dancing thing.

I know... I know... People don't care about Britney on this forum. But I wanted to review the concert anyways. The opening act was the Pussy Cat Dolls - they were alright. Nothing special. They performed for 45 minutes, ontop of lip syncing their dance or whatever wasn't exciting and they weren't in sync. I expected more.
Between them and Brit Brit, The Apple Circus from New York performed acrobatic and stunts. It was pretty cool. It kept with the circus theme. The stage was a big ring circle in the middle with 2 slightly smaller on each side in the middle of the venue.
Then Perez Hilton's video came on as the Queen of the circus.... Then Britney came down from the ceiling and performed Circus. During the whole concert, she worked the circus theme into it by performing in cages, acrobatics, mid air suspension, fire, costumes, magicicans. Ontop of the performance on stage, the videos playing above the stage were equally entertaining. There was never a dull moment.
My favourite part of the concert was when she performed songs from Blackout. I didn't like Circus as much as Blackout. So I was really happy when there were like 5 Blackout songs. She did a couple of early songs like, Opps I did it again and whatever.
I'm so glad that I went. I really want to go to another show. It was amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Probably the most entertaining concert I've been to.

-Hed Pe, Dirtball, Mower, and DGAF-
DGAF ehh 3/10
Mower the usual opening band entertaining enough 4/10
Dirtball is a very technical and fast rapper and was 6/10
Hed Pe was very energetic and actually played old and new, and they never play their older stuff. Interesting covers of Sublime, Marley, and Buffalo Springfield. Very political as always great crowd and energy 8/10.

The Cool Kids came to the University of Iowa last night and did a free concert. It was a smaller venue, about 800 people were packed into the room. They did a great job of getting the crowd involved. They performed for two hours, did some of their older stuff and did some new songs from their upcoming Mixtape and CD which was awesome.
Overall 9.5/10

Lamb of God/As I lay Dying/ God Forbid/ Municipal Waste at the Ram's head in baltimore last night. God Forbid was garbage, and there were too many people in the venue to circle pit 7/10

My friend wanted to see these bands that were playing in Spokane. It was a small, tiny fucking bar venue and the bands that played were: In Fear and Faith, Dance Gavin Dance, A Skylit Drive. And more, can't remember.
Fucking awful. The crowd mostly consisted of 12-14 year old girls and the only good thing was the bar side area in which I did not have to deal with the little fuckers.

In March I saw
Slightly Stoopid, The SuperVillians in Bossier City LA. SS are way better live than they are on album. And Supervillians are ska/weed band that sound like a very young SS.

Oh yeah and I saw G. Love & Special Sauce at the same venue, they did one of their long jammy jazzy shows that I'm not too crazy about. But the opener was a dude named Eric Hutchinson singer songwriter w/ a 3 piece band and he tore it up. He made it worth the price of the ticket.

I saw the Toadies Thursday night, great as usual. The opening band Willoz were so good, I bought all their music. ( I wrote a little more yesterday about the show, but it went away.)

I went and saw Mogwai in San Francisco on Sunday. It was fucking bad ass, but we came early and the opener band sucked.
Got hella stoned as soon as Mogwai started playing, it was intense. Me and my friend brought earplugs thankfully. I saw people around us starting to plug their ears at some points of the show. Very loud, but in a good way, very powerful.
At one point the laptop crashed at the beginning of a song so the ambient noise went nuts, three roadies immediately dashed out and the show got back on track. One of the guitarists explained that they just wanted us to know that they do their music live. Whatever it's always funny to hear their Scottish accents though lol.
I was amazed by the amount of instrument changing they did, literally every song, roadies rushed out and exchanged guitars to at least 2 of the members, sometimes all of them minus the drummer. Mogwai roadies must have to work extra hard.
I also liked the set they played, ranging from songs from ten rapid, mr. beast, happy songs for happy people, rock action, and one song or two I didn't recognize, might have been from the hawk is howling I haven't fully listened to that one. I was pretty happy that they picked songs with no singing, with the exception of the vocoder effect in hunted by a freak.
Edit: found teh setlist online -

After the encore, it was pretty intriguing. One of the guitarists hung his guitar up on the mic stand so it would keep feeding back, and he started messing with all his effects I'm presuming and the other guitarist started doing some shit with his effects too but he wasn't really playing or anything. it ended up being a feedback loop thing and then after a couple minutes, bam music stops and lights go out.
Only thing that sucked was during one of the first songs don't remember which one, during the heavy chorus part of the song the flashed strobe lights on the crowd, making everyone uncomfortable and blinded. Luckily they didn't do that shit anymore.
Including opening act, 7 out of 10
Just Mogwai, 9 out of 10

The Toadies, Kansas, Kool and The Gang, Rick Springfield, Hoobastank, Badfish, Tonic, Night Ranger, and The Wailers.
It was a very strange mix for a local outdoor festival, and that meant a ton of different people and too many kids. There were about 30 I wanted to kick in the head. The good bands sounded good and the old sounded old.

Opeth/Enslaved
Enslaved was the only opener. They played a very tight set but the crowd did not seem to be too into it. Awesome stage presence and good execution of their more difficult songs.
Opeth took about 40 minutes to set up all their shit but played over 2 hours of music. I was pleasantly surprised to hear KARMA!!! off of MAYH. Hell dick!! They played a lot of shit off their newer albums but also treated us with The Night in Silent Water (which remains one of the best Opeth songs ever).
Overall, good show. However, Michael is getting tired of touring and it is very apparent by the way he talks to the crowd. I highly recommend that if you are a fan of the band, try to catch them on this tour because they may not come back for a while.

I've been to a couple in the last few days...
Ladyhawke
As performers with Asperger's Syndrome go, she was pretty good with the crowd. Didn't speak much, but she was clearly loving playing her music. Fit as fuck, and with a great voice her songs sounded better than on the album. There were some issues with the sound levels for her vocals which were annoying her at one point.
It was in a great, intimate venue which meant you were really close to her; I've seen a few gigs in this place and it works well (except for the dodgy levels).
9/10
Maximo Park
Fucking awesome. With three excellent albums they now have a good catalogue of songs to pick from, there were a few they didn't play which I missed but I'll be seeing them twice at Glastonbury. They've only played one arena gig so far, but I prefer them in the smaller venues as the fans who go tend to be really in to their stuff and everyone was well up for it.

TV on the Radio w/ Dirty Projectors (5.23)
Dirty Projectors opened, i recognized a few of the tracks from the one listen I have had of Bitte Orca and they sounded pretty good. TV on the Radio were great, I saw them a few months back at the same place and it doesnt always have the greatest sound in there, it was the same last night but they played a great set that I would say topped the one last year. This show definitely made me feel okay with not being able to make it to Sasquatch festival this weekend. DP 7/10 TVOTR 10/10 -1 for poor sound

The Kills w/ two shitty bands 5/15
the two opening acts were horrible. fuck them.
the kills came on way late due to technical issues by the first two bands. they hit the stage about 12:15 or so. either way, they tore shit up. i have seen them once before, this was better. the first time i saw them about 3 years ago, he was on guitar and she was on drums. that made for her singing to be a little tough to pick up all the time. this time they were both on guitar w/ a drum machine. way bad ass. VV has a stage presence that is amazing. helps that she's hot as hell. Hotel is his usual strung out self, but never misses a note. it's only fitting that VV's album w/ jack white drops this july. she's due for the big time. too bad i'll never see her in a venue for 200 again. :(
9/10
Yesterday I attended Wing Ding 16 in Rockford, IL. Due to no local venue wanting to deal with all the people (15,000+ yesterday), this is supposedly the last one. This one was held at the airport and organized extremely poorly. One lane of traffic to park, which I was in for 75 minutes, then another hour standing in line to get in. So though, I heard Halestorm and Parlor Mob, I didn't actually see them (I have seen PM before). But at $15 for 10 acts, it's not a bad deal and the weather was awesome for once.
Once I got in, the first band was 10 years, who I've now seen 8 times before thanks to local radio festivals and thanks to them opening for about 4 other major tours the last 3 or 4 years. Pretty good, nothing great.
The next act was muther fuckin' Coolio. Yes, Coolio who was big when most of us were in junior high or grade school. He also hosted the event from then on (last year was Tone Loc as the station sponsoring it usually gets some washed up rapper to host/perform). Collio did 3 songs. 3 fucking songs and no "Fantastic Voyage". So it was weak, but it was Coolio. Who I then hung out with for almost an hour after Powerman 5000's set. Apparently Coolio either has to buy his own beer, or get his own beer because he cut me in the beer line, got me a $10 beer and then told me to come to the tent which was full of contest winners and few crack whores. Good times. He is an old man who wishes he was still 25. But he's a nice guy, didn't seem to be "all there".
Before Coolio, Powerman 5000 performed about 8 songs. Pretty much the radio singles and 2 new songs. Not bad, not great, but it's basically the "Spider Show" at this point with him being the only real member left. Halfway through the set, he did some impromptu rap byhimself, and the rest of the band returned wearing space masks. He also made the 4 other members dress the same.
Then Saving Abel played. Much like 10 Years, I've seen this band about 8 times now for the same reasons. They've gotten much better since I saw them the first few times last year. But their set is still the same and the band has little stage pressence. I was surprised they were playing that high on the bill, but I guess album sales dictate those kind of things.
Saliva was after than. Saliva, I like, but have gotten really boring live the last few years. Almost the same setlist as when I saw them back in October, same jokes/comments in between songs, etc. The only difference was they weren't headling and had a shorter set. I also believe the singer has yet again gotten bigger since last time, but didn't wear his custom made Fubu jersey.
Shinedown headlined, and were the reason I went. Normally this band charges $25-40 depending on venue, so this was basically my $15. 5th show I've seen them at since 2004, and they keep getting better as a live band. Great setlist, which wasn't just hits and they covered a lot of the new album, but also dusted off a couple non-singles from the first album. A lot of stage pressence a good setlist and just a good way to end the nigh.
Overall 3/5 for the whole show based on everything. Part of me is sad this is the last Wing Ding, but part of me is fine with it because of how poorly run/organized it is.

Animal Collective w/ Grouper (5.25)
Grouper opened doing her "noise" thing... a couple of the songs had nice melodies but its not really my thing, maybe after a few bonghits and with a seat but not standing on the balcony leaning against a metal bar. Animal Collective, however, were absolutely fucking fantastic... i love their cds but somehow underestimated quite how good they would be live. Unfortunately Davey had some ear trouble after the set so no encore, but they played for almost an hour and a half before that and it was excellent. highlights included Comfy in Nautica as the 2nd track, Fireworks which they jammed out for what seemed like about 15 minutes, and of course My Girls made everyone go crazy. highly recommended if you get a chance to see these guys. 9/10 overall
I saw X last night. They're a bit long in the tooth now, but It was pretty much the best show I've ever been to.

As usual....fucking awesome.
